Pets & Shadowguard - WARNING

So I was with a group earlier today doing some of the shadowguard rooms on my tamer. I had to leave just as we finished up a room, so I logged before we got booted from the encounter. Came home a few hours later and went into shadowguard on a different character and my dragon was just chilling there. Loyalty was very low, so he had obviously not timed out with my character.

Did you try re-logging the tamer to see if pet returned to him?

Yes, when I logged in the tamer, I was there with the pet in shadowguard... pets loyalty was "content". Feed him and took him home just fine... but if I had waited until tomorrow to log in, I would have had no dragon.

Good to know. I haven't logged out there yet, but, until it's fixed, I'll keep that in mind if a situation where it's required comes up.

On a related note, I had a buddy who died inside while testing his dexxer on the roof. He got booted due to his death but his paroxy swampie was lost on the boot out. It was just gone. So be careful peeps.

this isnt just shadowguard (although it may be a more frequent occurrence there) Theres always been a chance pets dont log out with you no matter where you are.

Yes, this extends beyond Shadowguard. The only guarantee that you will have your pet with you the next time you log is if it is properly stabled.

Cheif Paroxy Dragons have always been wonky. I recall having to help folk often get them back but since they can't be traded makes them hard to return to their owner.
