We Need Book Satchels

A container that holds only books.. all books.. rune books, spell books, mastery books, skill books, etc.

PLEASE.. my backpack is soo full, and it would be a great addition to the game. Sorting books for each different chore I do in game is such a drag.

A container that holds only books, no other items. If you die, the books will stay in the satchel and not pop out all over your backpack.

I beg you.. PLEASE!!

I Totally agree and have been thinking of this for a while now even as you described ( A Satchel ) in which only books can be placed in and dont move YES YES YES merry XMAS 2D !

The EC is 2d. There is no 3d client in UO.

The fact that a large portion of CCers/Jurasssics consistently refer to the CC client as 2d when the EC is also 2d says alot....

Both, the CC & the Ec, show the game from an isometric perspective and use the same tileset. So how can one client be 2.5D and the other 2D?

Personally I'd like a large volume runebook myself. Something that holds say 100 runes.

IMHO if you require more than say 4 or 5 books then something is wrong, most books I carry are 3.

Rune books, Mastery book, Necro book, Mage book, Chiv Book, Ninja book, Bushi book, SW book, Myst book.... If you change your template a lot it's probably just easier to keep them in your bag.

I usually have 5 books (necro, bushi, mastery, chiv, mage with lrc and MR for healing on run back to corpse) but before I had 10+ with rune books. I dumped rune books because I can't gate anymore, so that helped but still, I would not mind a "book bag".

Not about that... seems like you have an organization issue that is personal. That's why I suggested EC. I don't see how moving your books from one bag into another bag with a different title is going to help with your changing templates and books. You're still going to have your same bad organization problems. Adding another bag may be more confusing in fact.

You could buy a brown bag and it'd do the same thing you're asking except when you die the books stay in it. Which as a reminder, I don't think happens with anything today unless you get back to your corpse. So it may use more dev resources than you realize.

If there was 50 -100 runes per book - it would be horrible and time consuming to reorganize that book.

Put books with the soulstones so when you swap skills the books will be there so you do not need to carry them with you. Why carry books that do nothing but take up space in your pack. IMHO it is not a royal pain as much as it is laziness.

Laziness or whatever. I see it as an issue of convenience. The more streamlined a mechanism could be, should not be a point of contention. If you don't like using the satchel, don't use it, but allow the folks that want one to have access to it..

It's just not a great idea. I've had a lot of bad ideas myself. This is a waste of time.

Introducing a satchel is a rather cheap solution. Another container? No thanks...
Best would be if they would remove all the spells from the books in the first place and incorporate all the spells directly in the UI just like we have now in the skill gump.
Keep books as items because they can have magic properties.

If there was 50 -100 runes per book - it would be horrible and time consuming to reorganize that book.

That completely depends, on how that feature is implemented. If done right, slots could be manually sorted with drag and drop. The whole necessity for runes could be removed as there could be a mark button for each slot, just like the recall button would cast recall, it would cast mark and store the "rune" without the need for a "physical" item.
There's always a fast & lazy approach and a real solution, which requires thought and time...

My mage has about six rune books and six spell books, being prepared for any encounter on the fly is a must these days. I would like to take that space back for sure! How it would be implemented can be argued but the Ideas are sound and should be looked at.

Yes I carry deamon, reptile, elemental, dragon, repond, undead, I also carry my event 3mr 30sdi so seven spell books total.

I carry a full Mage spellbook being a mage, a Chivalry book for it's non regeant requiring heal & cure abilities for healing after rezzing, a Mysticism book to JoaT replace Healing stones I alternate heals with chivalry after rezzing, and a Ninjitsu book to JoaT to rat or bunny form for 20 more points of stealth at times. Then toss in town, dungeon, foraging, cemetary, main travel, three hunting spot books and any more runebooks for what I'm currently doing, like eight or more mining spot books, and it's a mess in the backpack after getting dirtnapped and rezzed. A books satchel that stayed packed and arranged would be great.
