rare 18th anv plates

so, finished collecting all my 18th anv bags on all the NA shards and ive noticed a big decrease in the rare drop with gifts.

out of my first 417 toons i have gotten 3 of the rare plates.
that is a nasty drop rate!

damn you RNG!

ill start in on the HK shards here in a couple days just to see if i can change the % on that a bit.
but wowsers thats a low % for the rare drop this time!

@RoseBlue There are player named plates. as in your character that you logged in on when receiving the gift.

Im on account 3. log in attempt 300 some odd.... still no player named plate... bleh.

picked up a couple more rare plates.
totals break down like this

account #1 : 177 characters / 2 Plates = 1.1%
account #2 : 152 characters / 3 Plates = 2%
account #3 : 142 characters / 3 Plates = 2.1%
account #4 : 117 characters / 1 Plates = 0.9%

Total 558 characters / 9 Plates = 1.6% drop rate over 4 accounts over all 27 shards.

So a plate with your character's name on it is rare, but why would it be desirable (collected by others)?

As for the drop rate @Poo all I can say is welcome to my world. This is how UO is for me all the time.

Nope, once the plate is created, that's it. It's just an item in the world and not linked to your char in any way.

My claiming the 18th bags is finished. 481 char and have four plates with char names on them...now for the conspiracy theory behind the RNG...last year I also got four towels with char names on them...hmmm...coincidence?

I really don't see why a plate with your name on it would be so rare. Mostly it's only important to you. I'd think it should be like at least a 10% chance. For the most part though I'd prefer the normal game drops over most of my characters.

Two accounts with over 80 characters and I got two plates - interestingly enough both characters have the word "Sorrow" in their names. Those two are the only ones named as such and they both got plates. Hmmmm...

Even if it is rare, I can't get excited about it, since who else but me would even care if I tried to sell it or my house went IDOC? I just don't see people lining up for a Yadd plate.

I found it interesting that of the 13 accounts I have active with well over 900 characters I got 7...

And even more interesting was that there are at least 40 or 50 Malag'aste characters, at least that many characters named Setatabon/Xunroos or Calibus... another 30 or so Myhrea's and what do I get for names..... Tifa, Walt, Clone, and Vincent???? Now Vince I can see since I have at least 20 or so of them..... but Walt? Tifa? Tifa was a character my son had.... and neither one of us can figure out who or when a character of that name was created on Yamato of all places.

I would have loved to have had one for either Willa or Malag but no... can't get that lucky... the odds had to be in my favor but Noooooo the RNG seriously hates me or something. I don't get it.

Walt and Clone were characters made by my friends who gave me the accounts ages ago.... which is sort of nice.... but I would have preferred if I had gotten one named after his character Hawkeye... but didn't get that lucky either.

Also of note only 6 out of the 13 accounts got a special plate. Which for 3 or 4 of the accounts isn't a big surprise since they honestly only have 8 or 9 characters on them at the most..... but still. Sad odds if you ask me.

Best one of all I got though I think was A Wailing Banshee's First Adventure....

That would depend on your definition of "complete"... over 200 of them are "Functionally complete" as in depending on what I was doing I could say go to an EM event and survive and maybe get an item... I could participate in a champ spawn... though I likely wouldn't survive long against a hard core PvPer/PKer... alone. Though with my connection and all unless they were running a speed hack I'd possibly get away and hide run away without dying.

Of those I have over 20 Tamers another 5 or 6 archers, 2 or 3 throwers, 1 "sampire"... about a dozen crafters... a few necros, 3 or 4 THunters, 4 Beggars, 3 or 4 Fishers,...

It's been my "goal" to have a fully functional Tamer on EVERY shard. It's a long term goal that I don't really work hard core at but I piddle with from time to time late at night when none of my friends are about.

No but I have played pretty much non-stop since I started "just" after Trammel. I grabbed my copy of UO:R off the shelf at Wal-mart. I haven't really stopped playing since I started outside the initial 3 months when my computer went to computer heaven shortly after I built my first character... and a 2 week stint here and there like when I moved and had no internet.... I had such UO withdrawal I played the Sims Medieval and created Sims of all my UO friends. Was a hoot.

how is that excessive?
ive got 558 characters and every single one of them is suited up and maxed out and scrolled up.
granted ive been playing since the game started and i actually enjoy character development.
its really not that hard of a thing, once youve made a couple dozed characters you find fast easy ways to make them and then BOOM your flying.

when i started going to other shards years ago i realized i needed certain characters to make myself playable on other shards.
so you get a set bunch of templates you need.
then once youve done that you just move onto another shard and repeat.
then to another shard and repeat.
the 21 main characters i make on every shard are all the same.

18 years of playing is what 6570 days which is like 940 weeks.
say you take a week to a week and a half per character or even 2 weeks per character youd be up to 500 fully developed guys.
