UO Alternatives

Theres been a whole host of games over the years trying to emulate Uo's sandbox classless system, its crafting, openworld environment, PvP etc etc. For me none so far have managed to give me that UO feel. SoTA and Shards are the most recent pretenders and I have played the former and kept an eye on the latter.

Ive just come across a game I'd never heard of called Albion Online which has just finished Alpha, with Beta starting in November.

Just wondered if anyone here has played it and what their thoughts are so far. Is it a true worthy sucessor to UO?

It seems to have great crafting and gathering, guilds, pvp. housing, classless system and an open world.

Anyone checked it out or know anything about it?

Only problem is that it is not UO. I too have tried other games including leveling 6 toons to 85 on WOW, SWTOR, LOTRO etc... I have never met UO's equal. Shroud of the Avatar looks promising though

I love this game. :) I'm always looking for the next UO, but I also look forward to what Broadsword does. How cool is a developer named Broadsword?! :p Bad *** name.

Ive played the SOTA beta and if its meant to be the next UO then its failed badly imo. I dont like it at all. Shards looks a better bet. And Albion Online a better bet still. I was sure someone here would be playing the Alpha and be able to give a comparison to UO .... it seems to tick an awful lot of boxes so far.

I've been getting the fix I used to get from UO in ArcheAge this last year.

Did you even read my post? I can find a link to the website easily enough. My question was if any UO player here had played the Alpha and could make a direct comparison having played both.
There are other sites listed in the Google search but I guess you want others to tell you instead of reading for yourself.

He doesn't want THEIR opinion, for some reason he wants the opinion of Stratics users who've played it.

Have you tried Exanima? Awesome potential, and is a precursor to the devs 'Sui Generis' game.

I've played in the Summer Alpha/beta? whatever, of Albion and it has no where near the depth and open world feel of Ultima. It is repetitive, small world, and more based on PvP at the higher levels than anything. I threw it in the, "good time wasters" bucket but nothing more.
