Er... pretty sure the Grim Reapers aren't spawning. Do you mean the ghostie-pumpkin grimm's? If so, they aren't that tough. An RC can easily handle them.

Butchers can be nasty, best thing against them is a sampire with an undead slayer.

I think I have a ratio of about 1 death for every 5 butchers lol. Gonna try the undead slayer Got 5 different pumpkins so far so I''ve got some farming left to do. I'm so use to using my favorite weapon I didn't really think about it.

See, that's how long I've been away...we didn't have Halloween when I was playing. I'd read about the pumpkins and Butchers but people kept mentioning Grims or Grimms, and the only other reference I could find to that was Grim Reaper!

Those 4 dex, 1 stam regen boots are pretty nice. They cost 50 doom artifacts to acquire.

i think most people where trying to get as many of the boots with the +dex on them for their melee toons.
i know that seemed to be the big push last year with everyone i talked too.

While begging today I got a 'chair in a ghost costume' and a 'Halloween guillotine'. They are miniature size. Do not remember getting them last year and did not see them on list of begging rewards

Do you get the Doom Artifacts from killing anything in Doom, or do you have to kill specific monsters?

You get them from killing any creature in Doom. But the Doom artifacts are not active yet except on Origin and Izumo.

As S_S said, any monster in doom will do.
The most effective way to get them is to party up with a few people and hit the guardians room in Doom. 2 guardians will spawn per active player/summon/pet in the room, up to 32, iirc.
You will get quite a few drops there this way. Being on a party actually seemed to improve the drop chance a fair bit last year, when farming that room.

The doom event is not even on Origin yet, it won't be activated until the publish is live on all shards.

Best mobs to kill down there are the gibberlings...though I tended to do the lost souls...but the faster you kill the better.

I was very unlucky last year so hopefully this year I will do better and not have to fight a bazillion people down there lol.

I've gotten 4 skulls and one of the Devs on a pole using Trick or Treat. Does Begging give you the same items or different ones?

I get devs heads on a spike/two kinds of spider wep/skulls on a pike/a grim warning/iron maiden/ghost chair/halloween guillotine...

All the halloween items come from just saying "Trick or Treat" and targeting an NPC. Some of the more rare items like the colored skulls and heads on a spike do require that you have some degree of begging skill as well.

All seem totally random for me.

Day 1 of trick or treating : all candy and a rare small orange web
Day 2: Candy
Day 3: Candy, webs, skulls, mini iron maidens, grim warning.

I spend less than 1 hr on each trip. go figure.

You don't.

I think maybe in the past you had to, but I'm at 92 begging and haven't gotten but 1 web, my friend who JUST started a begger and is at 67 has gotten 12 heads on pikes as well as all the other goodies.

I think the LOWER it is the better lol.

I think it has a lot to do with the very flawed nature of the RNG.

Though I often wonder what the point is of all that work I did to GM begging.....

Like having 120 fishing I think ought to keep me from fishing up so darn many boots and other crap I don't want yet doesn't .....

I never understood why having GM begging doesn't keep me from being Tricked as often... at the very least.

Another question: I remember gypsies would be able to train begging; was this removed? The camps in Ilsh don't work for this, and in tram I found none... Is there another profession training that skill?

Shoot, I had this same problem. Tried Ilshenar, Tram and Fel thief guildmasters, eventually I had to ask because I went crazy looking for gypsies and thief GMs, @MissEcho finally found an npc that trained, but I've forgotten. It seems to be bugged/buggy.

@Kyronix So is there any point to GM begging? Apparently you can get Dev heads and the Skulls with 0 skill... Do GM beggers get an increased chance? Or have a whole bunch of us completely wasted our time on a skill that is useless?
