Throwing for Ninja's

So I've read the past posts and think it's about time Throwing was allowed on other races.
Many people asking for it means it's not a wasted skill (like it is at the moment on Gargoyles)
Make it tied into the Ninja school if you have too since it seems most want it so they can finally make a worth while Ninja char.

The time has come, make it so. :arr:

this would make archery mostly obsolete. and make being a gargoyal mostly obsolete. your not a garg for the sake of being a garg. your a garg so you can use throwing, or can move at mounted speed with taming / collosus. so one third of gargs would now not really have a good use.

its much easier to craft armor for a human, as well as human loot artifacts being much easier to get. but you have to put balanced on your bow. thats the tradeoff.

human garg would be so oped. there would be lots of very unhappy garg throwers out there.

If anything, i would allow throwing weapons to be altered to make them usuable by humans, but they become 2 handed.

I'm fine with them being 2 handed weaps for Humans, I can have a throwing star in both hands then ;)
I think the bonuses the garg gets like the HCI and not having to be mounted ect would mean there will still be Garg throwers.
I just don't like the garg. graphics and those claw'ry feet things...but I do like being able to throw stuff :D

But the same could be said for the Mace skill, when was the last time you saw an active macer? and not just somebody that stoned the skill for one champ spawn.

Don't forget, Gargoyles can't use Armored Swampies, and so miss out on 20% Damage Reduction in PvM.

Yeah. I made a an oldschool Pure Warrior specifically for doing Exodus with, and he has Macing. First of all, i didn't have much gold on the shard at the time, and the 120 Macing PS was 200k, while a 120 Swords PS was 6 Mill. You know something's ****ed up with Macing when it's 120 PS costs 1/30th the price of a 120 Swords PS. Second, i figured the extra Stamina damage from Mace weps would help, but it really isn't that much. Hit Fatigue out does it.

The making a skill obsolete argument isn't really a valid point, it's upto the devs to make each skill have it's own bonuses.
On a lore point I cant really see it either, ok Elves have Spellweaving but so do humans/gargoyles now and that's an arcane art and not just picking up a weapon and throwing it.
I mean, c'mon....how long do you really think it would take the other races of UO to learn how to throw something?

Gargoyles also have the bonus to Imbuing so they will never really be obsolete and gargoyle rage when they are low Hp.

*walks by and see's a small rock on the ground and a can on a wall*
*sighs* if only I knew how to pick up that rock and throw it.....:violin:...........[thought nobody...EVER]

EVER]

the devs did do this, but its based on the full benefits of the race, and which race can use what.

human/elf - much more powerful armor
gargoyal - much more powerful weapon

if i could use throwing on an elf or human, i would change every single garg throw i have to that and never ever using throwing on another garg. and i have 17 garg throwers. Gargs would then be just for tamers and mystics.

you cant give access to a more powerful weapon to human/elf unless you also give access to human/elf armor to gargs.

if you dont believe me about the armor disparites, try making 2 characters with comparable stats. one elf/human one garg. both 211 stam suits with stats that are pretty much standard mins in pvp these days. 140hp 211stam 140mana. garg suits are much harder to make, usually costs 3 to 4 times the amount for a garg suit. but they have a more powerful weapon (throwing) so is worth it. Give that weapon use to human elf and theres no point to being a garg on thrower.

I like throwing on my Garg... I don't see how it's considered a useless skill today as you said in your original post?

And since when did Swampies give 20% Damage Reduction? I thought it was 10 for plain and 12 for exceptional?

Can't all human armor be converted to Gargoyle? This seems like a weak argument.

12 is the paroxymous drop mount. 20 is exceptional crafted.

no lol. i wish. 3lmc human / elf armor (studded/bone/hide) can not be converted at all. You need to make stone. if your doing basic imbued yeah its the same, but if you want a competive suit valorite runic malets are insanely expensive, and thats if you can even find them. Even copper runic mallets run around 200k per charge, while copper runic hammers (human equivilant) run around 10k per charge. can use regular smith valorite runics for the earrings, but thats about the cheapest peice your gonna make for a garg suit.

stone gargoyal artifact shame loot is also much more rare to find simply because its not available on all the places high end loot is farmed.

You can alter human glasses, plate arms / tunic / legs. its a good option in some cases, like for a mage/caster, but not if your going for a 55lmc thrower suit. youd max out at only 45 lmc in full plate. which really isnt viable at all for a thrower.

id love if all human armor were convertable, but that would also destroy the market for runic mallets (which are insanely hard to get thru questing and dont come from doing bods) I feel the whole armor system would have to be carefully revamped to balance throwing on a human / elf. that, or as i said the easier fix would be to allow throwing on human/elf, but just make them 2 handed so you still have to have to waste an imbue slot if you want to chug pots.

Thanks for the extra info. I haven't spent a lot of time trying to alter items but seems like something they should look into.

Found this in one of the many threads I've been reading trying to get to grips with new armours and such....

Archery has some advantages over Throwing:
- Range doesn't depends on your Strength
- Thrower does about two times less damage on the last quarter of his range
- Bows/Crossbows have 50 more imbuing weight and can be enhanced for additional mods
- 20% damage reduction with an armoured swamp dragon
- Quivers give you 10% DI when you use Archery

Seems to me there will always be a place for Archery.
