Hunting Ettiquette: In Game Changes to help?

Hello all, After careful thought I figured I would make a post about this problem.
I currently have a problem with players only coming at end of monster to get rights and try for drop. Of course this is about a certain area not any em monster of event.
For example we all stand around navrey talkin and waiting then we kill monster together to try for the drop (which are few and far between) .
Of course out of no where it seems we get the same person or persons that only come at end to try for kill then they leave till the end is near again.
I may be as guilty as any in the coming late part. But I stay and fight a few more from start to finish(sometimes quite a few).
Is there any way we can get the devs to code anyone whom does'nt do any damage to monster before it reachs half health no looting rights?
I believe this would eliminate the late comers and make them stay start to finish ( adding to the community). Currently the system we have is a greifers dream and I see this as a problem for the community as it stands. Anyone else have any ideas to help combat this problem I would like to hear it.

While I can relate and somewhat agee with some of what you're saying I have to say that the LAST thing I want in UO is the sillyness of many games where if one person takes a whack and hits somthing it is "theirs" and no one else can do anything...

I know many Greed driven SoB's are all over now in the game but I suppose we have to put on our big girl/boy panties and just deal with it. Otherwise I think it would kill the game and the immersion of the game. Though I will say this... I wish there was a BONUS for being in a party or group for things. Like your drop rate would increase for the more people in your party doing damage and healing damage taken. But that would only encourage more of the multiboxers so just leave it as is.​

Can they hide themselves nearby and just play another client checking in off & on? I often just hide in a hunting area when I kick back a while taking five and not bother going to a safe spot. The monsters don't bother my character.

On Atlantic, there's a house just SE (Tilted Map) of the Ter Mur map that has a portal directly to Navery. Not really sure how it happened as I just returned to the game. Ma Nerva does a nice event on Sunday where she gives out coins for the fountain at the house.

"hole" was a Stygian Abyss "server birth" of sorts. players picked them up. they were deemed legal to own, not sure how many exist.

we currently have in place the after half dead you can not join in exodus. after thinking about it the only place that does not require keys where this is being done is at navrey. does anyone else have a monster where you are seeing this come at end tactic being used?
As far as some one liking the way it is scenerio. thats your opinion glad to hear it. Im not sure who has thrown a hissy about my thread,I've not seen it posted.
Perhaps the name calling and other elite phrases used by these same people to discourage you is liked also. once again that's your opinion,glad to hear it.
I simply stated this type of behavior is discouraging to players in game, and I would like to see something done about it.

Navery isnt a peerless boss that requires keys.....it is more in league with miasma. and yes anyone can walk in at anytime and hit miasma too. If there is no one there solo it.....if someone comes in who cares....you are playing an MMORPG you arent playing a stand alone game on your xbox.

miasma drops no tangles or other boss loot. Noone said navery was a peerless boss. just mentioned short of getting keys it is the same league as some. Who would want to steal your miasma and talk down to you nothing to gain there. Navrey totally different monster. This is a problem i see, and i think you meant move on not more on. So you would want people with problems to move on from ultima? good idea lets lower our player base even more. guess you didnt read the op . It talks of friends there thats more than one person. making the post about mmo. as far as xbox i dont play xbox sorry. just lookin for some way to fix this other than turning into the villian like Mira. did i spell the name right?

Hello all

UO unfortunately has always been like this. Fel only they would just kill you and take over. Tram comes in and most people are mature and know how to share/play well with others but the same children that didn't play well in Fel came to Tram because Fel didn't have the sheep and the only way to harass people was to steal kills or refuse to rez you so they could loot your body. It is sad to say that little children still play UO and always will, you will have to be the adult and do the mature thing and let it go, children will be children you know.. You will find that you will get flamed for even suggesting thing like this and please keep it in mind that the same people flaming you are probably the same people in UO that are doing what you want fixed. Alls I can say is good luck and do not let the little children ruin your game to much.

This would be fine "if" the exodus thing actually worked. Sometimes it does not.

I'm really surprised you would be advocating for this Governor Ma Nerva. I personally can't understood the idea of how a monster in a public dungeon is someone's personal property. I hit it with my sword therefore it's mine? Or we were here first so leave? That sounds a bit entitled in my opinion. The game already has programmed in level for looting rights. The person showing up late to Navrey runs the risk of not doing enough damage to get looting rights at all. So what if they come in late each and every time. Maybe they get webbed and thrown out of the fight maybe not. For someone who supposedly wants to promote more community your desires here certainly don't seem to indicate that.

For the most part as I travel shards I find a tremendous amount of courtesy when it comes to hunts and bosses.

If it's public, it's public.

It kind of sounds like you're getting upset about the kids making noise while eating at a famity restaurant.

Maybe you should head to a higher end establishment or in this case boss.

I think the Fel rule set would allow you to solve your problem or maybe even a journey to Siege.

All in all I feel things are fine and a nice invite to the late attendee to your next hunt goes a long way towards getting them to help out with the whole thing

I was either telling you to move on and had a typo on the old iPad Kb or I was referring to you as a moron and had a typo on the kb .....either way you are wrong about this....so yea move on. No one owns any spawn...period. And yes when miasma first came out people would whine about this then too..."I was there first...they are stealing my kills" back then the sought after item was miasma chests.

Yes you have a higher chance of getting a drop if you solo a named monster. Do you have an entitlement to expect people to perform as you think is appropriate.??? Not in the slightest. Maybe the player can't solo it...so hides until navery is slowed down and her mana/stamina is low so she will survive. She is just as entitled to attack as you are....

I thought UO fixed the use of spy cams. And it is funny that the people that think this is OK but think that bank sitters (AFK) should be kicked to the curb. Try looking around and see if there is someone hidden there, reveal them and then page.

1) Who cares if someone jumps in? Everyone with rights gets a chance at the in pack drops. More people getting rights wouldn't impact your chances unless I misunderstand how pack item drops work.
2) I agree that it IS rude but being rude is not, nor should it be against the rules. It's also rude to not takes turns, so sometimes you may be forced to jump someone "claim" to a fight.
3) You are wanting to be entitled. You consider a monster you attacked to "belong" to you. It doesn't. It's a monster in a public area, and anyone is free to attack it at any time.
4) If someone does enough damage to get looting rights... why should it matter when they came in? They helped kill the monster, even if you would rather they had not.

You are assuming this poor slob is afk....
Also to my knowledge they only fixed ghost cams at champ spawn areas...
Finally...I dont think reveal works in Trammel unless the person is green or orange to you does it?

We have a whole map full of mostly ignored content, and people fighting for a couple of spawns. I think the solution here is to make a wider variety of desirable hunting areas.

i never talked of soloing this monster, i said we in op several times. and yes i never have this problem on seige. as far as me gong to fel? and being handed a death robe, I live in fel and do spawns there daily, i never have a problem there either. of course i understand those who shout the loudest against something like this are the ones whom use this tactic and know no other recourse.
we have tryed the inviting idea but, mira wont have that either. and I agree there is alot of unused content in game and strive to use more all the time. this was a prob me and the group at nav have been seeing. and some talked of how discouraging it was to have this tactic used, and the person belittle everyone with words that are not nice and meant to cause duress. the op is about ettiquette, if you feel there is no place in a mmo for manners then thats your oppinion.

I have a realy bad memory for names but I am almost sure that i use to play some with M*** a couple years ago and that she was a pretty nice player to be around at that time
so unless she sold her acc I do not think she is a lost cause win her over with kindness

and if that do not work it can be realy hilarios to see the reaction of griefers when you are realy nice to them no matter how bad they try to grief you some of them freak out completly

now you know how the serious eventers felt when the drop system changed over a year ago. Yes, it can be frustrating when your doing most the damage, put max effort with fully trained / geared characters, but yet someone can come in (even naked) and manage to get looting rights / chance at the treasure.

Cant have it both ways Ma. either UO is to be a competitive game, or a casual one. The Devs have gone the casual route so just enjoy it for what it is.

Actually I have seen her behavior. And it doesn't change my opinion. If you don't like her annoying behaviors then just put her on ignore and continue your killing of Navrey as you like. Whether she gets looting rights or not should be irrelevant to your group. Its a public dungeon and anyone should feel free to hunt Navrey anytime they want regardless of who is there.

Look at Riyana being all logical. Navery is a pretty fun fight.

With spawn rates as crazy fast as they are these days I enjoy another person or two around... it's easy to get possessive about bosses and spawns you've got on farm though. Just gotta breath and know the game would be over if it were single player.

We use to have this issues years ago where someone would be killing something and someone would come and could do 1 point of damage out of XXX and having looting rights. So the powers that be made this thing called looting rights. You had to do enough damage to get looting rights and this made it so you had to do some actual damage to be able to open the death box. I am unsure of the requirements for drops. I am sure someone else can add to that part, but thankfully this nice feature was implemented to help with griefing.

If you feel you are being unjustly griefed because someone is fighting something the last minute and still skunking you in damage enough that you fear you won't get a drop, I suggest either amping up so you do more damage. If you don't do the rocks, party up and drop the rocks so she dies quicker, or everyone invis so they become the target and not your dragon, (am I safe to assume you or someone in the group is a tamer?) and let them get chased and die. Now well that's kinda mean and not necessarily my style.... But an option none the less.

The last thing would be to keep/start? being nice and work on the person. Some people just need their exterior broken to get to the soft yummy good parts.

If they are still a butt, then just be glad there is only one butt. Someone has to be.

I would die if I went up against her alone melee or just fighting toe to toe. I don't have a tamer and I am not a gear head. I could kill her with the rocks and running like a fool peacing or shooting arrows, but I guarantee at least one death!

Um...No rocks....no special gear... Spider slayer bow, a couple chiv spells...no peace... walk in front of her and your bow auto fires at her. Maybe hit AI every couple of arrows as mana permits. when she sticks you hit the bandage macro and chew an orange petal. The biggest problem is falling asleep! Only time I die is when I am typing in gen chat....or checking my email etc while gaming

My archer doesn't have any tactics to do specials, I agree it can be done, but would take a long time for me. But I would rather say I would die than be down there and die and to have said I never die.

Same game different styles. I run with archery, anat, healing, music, peace, provo and 40 in chiv. She is designed to make things kill each other, make something hold still while I kill it or get out of a situation that a bit to tough for me.
