Not enough UO Vids on Youtube. Especially Official Server Vids.

Does anyone know how to record games for Youtube and add voice?

I can easily Google said question, and have, but I'm wondering if anyone has any best practices or apps they find particularly frugal and good.

What are all the requirements?

Some vids I'd like to do or even find would be taming Greater Dragons, Beginning High Seas, crafting a high end suit, group and solo vids of major bosses, and events for posterity.

I use OBS and a headset when I record, but all my videos are housing decorating how tos or tours.

I also record to Twitch then use Twitch to highlight and export my videos, though you can just save to your hard drive. You do need a good internet connection and good video card to do this.

OBS is probably the easiest system to use.

I agree with Kayhynn, I also use OBS to stream, either direct upload to YouTube or through Twitch. Stratics has a YouTube channel and there's some pretty good vids done by us crazy staffers lol.

I tried to do OLD things in UO, old classic quests, taming mightmares, rune beetles etc. in the hopes that if people watch them they will come play with us! lol

But it's great fun, I love streaming and making video.

Yes you can record your voice by using record all audio, it will record your voice, your friends voices, and game sounds, then you can use whatever chat program you want.

I too create Youtube videos for Ultima Online. Just some advice, be prepared for a LONG uploading time for your videos. It takes forever!

Your videos are awesome guys! I think I figured out why I couldn't find them myself. I was searching UO and not Ultima Online. I've downloaded and have been fiddling with OBS. So excited. Thank you all! Exciting times for my gaming hobby.

The biggest difference for Ultima Online is you have to select the game window to record and chose the record area unlike other games which will just record the game play itself. Once you have that sorted out, it's a piece of cake.

If'n you want to get serious about video streaming... XSplit will let you custom your screen set-up (zoom in on CC active pane with video and graphic overlay). There is a free Gamecaster version that you don't have to pay for. Both versions will allow you to stream live to services, or save locally for further editing. You can record yourself over the game play, record music (but you better have the rights before you publish), and do all sorts of advanced encoding to help save space and time.

Streaming to Twitch will get you more exposure. The Twitch community is huge and there are several UO players there. They are now owned by Amazon, so the community is wondering how long before they have to pay for use. Otherwise, Twitch is probably a good bet if you are starting off. If you get uber popular, you can sign up for a partnership to earn cash - but you _really_ have to be popular for this.

Another Streaming site and a relative newcommer is HitBox. There are a lot of e-Sports people there, but MMOs are starting to make headway. HitBox's tools are more user friendly and yes, you can have "commercial breaks" which, if you get popular enough, will earn you cash. The Dashboard is modular, simple, and very light on your system while streaming.

Both streaming services allow you to save your full video (have to select) and cut highlights out for youtube publishing.

Personally, I use XSplit/HitBox combination. Better controls and much funs. HitBox also embeds easier into websites while giving me control on chats, give-aways and ads.

Yes i use OBS ( https://obsproject.com/ ) to record as well, it also has potential for live streaming, which i have also done in past. You will need a seperate program to edit the video, if you wish to do that though.
