Anyone ever battled for an old account?

Im currently battling back and forth to prove that im the "Real Owner" with [email protected]. We've been going at it for a few days now and I gave her a whole list of items to prove that im the owner. The account is already linked somewhat to my EA account I just cant remember my mythic password? Which im guessing is what I used to use to login to my account 6 years ago... So I stick a password in to link the account to my EA account and its wrong. After I filled out this template they asked so they could reset the password, this is the email I get back... "Thank you for the information you provided.Unfortunately, the information does not sufficiently match what is on file for the account in question. At this time, we are not able to relinquish ownership of this account to you; we apologize for any inconvenience." It doesn't sufficiently match? So it does a little bit but not enough? Do they realize ive slept since 6-7 years ago and I may not remember every little detail? Is there anyone else that I could maybe call or talk to to help me get this worked out? Anyone else had a terrible account issue like this? The account recovery is just garbage.

make sure when you are trying to link the account you add the _uo to the end so it should look something like this


Accountname_uo

That underscore uo is a very important part. You will just keep getting an error messsage without it.

Yes. It has that behind it. I try to click the link "Forgot Mystic Password". Then it tells me to enter the account name. Then after I enter it it tells me that its already linked to an EA account which im guessing is mine as well. I use the email to sign into the EA account and go to "Link Account" tab and the account name is there but it needs a password to "link" it. Tells me password is incorrect.

Mesanna always said you can claim back an account if you know the "secret word" and this was all you needed. I'd be buggered myself as I have no idea what mine is!

a lot of really old accounts didn't set up the super-secret-word as it wasn't a feature at the time of some people's last login.

when i returned after almost 7 years, it took a month to get all of my accounts together. what helped:

If you had subscribed:
  • how did you pay? CC or PP?
  • if CC, you are in luck, as they would have needed your zip code as well as the CC type (visa, MC, debit, bank, etc.) if you remember what the CC provider was is even better. even if the CC is expired (most likely) there is less of a chance you had moved - so that info may help. this is what helped me regain all 10 of my accounts and get them linked to my EA accounts :)
  • if was your parent's CC, use their info zip
  • insist that they call you back - provide a phone number for them to call you, also give them suitable times
  • provide your full, real name (not account info), address, etc.


If you had paid with time codes, that gets a bit harder
  • this requires a phone call. you must have them call you - you cannot call them
  • send a request for phone support, make sure you explain everything in a clear and precise manner - do not get belligerent.
  • provide the old account name, but NOT any possible passwords. this will be something you will talk about over the phone.
  • hopefully you still have access to older emails. search them. the time code will still be there if you have them. this information greatly assisted with reclaiming my sons accounts.
  • if you can provide the full time code, they will search for that time code and then will ask you all sorts of questions

it took a full month to reclaim my accounts and link them all up right. it was frustrating as all get out, but was finally taken care of. i wish you luck.

When I returned I managed to reactivate my main account with just minor headaches from the terrible website. My secondary account got reactivated but tied to a different mythic account and (now deactivated) email address and I never got a response to an email asking to switch it to my main account. My third account is still dead in the water because it was tied to the email address that doesn't exist anymore and so I can see it on the mythic account but can't link it without the password and secret words didn't exist when I quit. :wall:

Thats super ridiculous. I did provide them with some cc info as well as my address. And youre right they asked for the "Secret word"...I had no idea what that meant lol. Im still working on them but I havent heard back from them all day today so. Looking like about a month out as well...:wall:

:( explain to them you never configured a "secret word" as your account predates that requirement.

a lot of the "customer service" people are following very carefully crafted scripts. as frustrating as it is, that is the world today.
my particular case was escalated about a dozen times, if that gives you any idea how fubar'd it got.

I finally got it back! After so many days of heckling them they finally gave it up lol. The 150 month old account is back online at last!

I tried forever to get my account back and gave up. I had an account from 2000 to 2001, provided all of the above and more. Told them character names, last login location, etc, and they said they found account but couldn't verify it was mine. I was soooo frustrated. So they lost an additional subscription on that one.

And another 2 maybe 3 hundred besides you who also tried and failed to get old accounts turned back on... and got so pissed and frustrated they gave up and will likely NEVER return.

I was away for like 6 years and recently came back this past January so i was on the old OSI system for account login and maintenance ... luckily my account still existed and it wasnt too difficult getting my account back up and runing but that was probably because I didnt have any of the new security things.. i successfully answered many of the questions and poof, received my login informatio. You have to admit, it is good they are difficult when recovering an account. I would hate for it to be too easy and get my account controlled by someone else...
