You can buy city banners from the Guard Captains in each city as long as you have the right city loyalty and 250k gold.

right but, as you said, you have to build city loyalty in order to buy a city banner. the trade quests give city loyalty and give perks like SOTs, guild signs, and resources to boot. one quest with multiple benefits.

Ya I got three of the books, (four) one a repeat. and two of the Guild signs myself. Still its win win regardless, been selling the points off to people (except for guild mates). Made 4.6 mil just the other day, 100k a point.

Ya I been running it on three of my and the wife is running on one of her's.

a lot of running around for 56 ingots. got ingots,an archers guild sign and some citrines so far. figured out you can just drop the ingots on the crate though.

Yes. Any item requested for a trade quest can be found in the city you accepted the quest from.

Rumor has it, The Baker really likes pepperoni.

Finally got a city banner and a archer's guild sign.

so what does it take to get the guild signs? I received 1 right away but haven't go another one since. I have received enough favor in towns to buy city banners (sucks ya have to wait a week to get your next town banner). I have 3 City banners so far and have enough to get my next one already. I'm just having no luck getting the guild signs since the first. I've gotten plenty of ingots, which I turn right back in to the trade guy.

I have gotten only two of the guild signs myself. I finally got every city banner however. I just love these missions. You might try running the longer ones killing all raiders that try to steal your goods. It takes longer but there is a chance that you may get a far better reward doing them.

Killing raiders ONLY adds a higher gold amount to the city. It plays no part in what reward you receive.

Right now am close to 100 trade deals done and have 5 signs it would appear am rather lucky or one in 20 drop the sign. I run and sail to the city's it does seem like the longer ones I do I get a sign

I just do the ones they give me and haven't kept up with the distance of them. I have probably done 50 or so trades so far. I'm wondering if luck hasn't anything to do with it?

5th book today on first run, Brit to Skara, ran all the way and used a small boat to cross to the city island.
