AMEN
...and no oneSuppose they created an expansion,
Are they even working today? The world may never knowStill no codes WTH
Hopefully not waiting on instructions from someone higher on the BS food chain who doesn't consider UO worth bothering with, or who is considering whether or not to shut us down.... so honestly what the hell have they been doing with their time lately?
Because if they went to "fixing" the CC and dropped the EC I'd quit. Because 99% of the cheating programs that allow for unattended macroing, running bots and multiboxing use the CC because that is easily hacked. At this point I haven't played in the CC for over 5 years. I don't even know how the heck to log out in it anymore... If I had to go back to playing the CC or quit... I'd quit. I don't care to play SotA or Shards or anything else... though I find myself playing things like Diablo and Landmark more than I do UO anymore... that's mostly because no one is around to do much with in UO anymore when I'm on. I find it boring to just solo UO. If I am going to be playing solo then well.. I'd rather play something more designed to be a solo game like Diablo. I play UO for the Role-play... for the community... and to have a great time with my old friends. Certainly I am told I could move to Atl... but I have 12 accounts... I'm not moving to Atlantic... that would be FAR too expensive... and if I play with less than my 12 accounts well... then I may as well quit as I'm only playing half my game or less... And finding 12 spots on Atl would be a nightmare.... besides it's not like I could get a castle, Keep and 5 or 6 other buildings all in one area like I have where I am.... and my friends AREN'T on Atl.... so what would be the point? Perhaps I could make new ones yes.... but the point is I enjoy playing with the people I've been playing with for over 10 years. I have known a few that went to Atl and honestly... I'm glad I DON'T play with some of them anymore and I wouldn't want to "find" them again. And I've met some nice folk there... but GL's is my home. If I'm not playing there then honestly I don't want to play.@Kyronix
I am truly disappointed at how this turned out. During this whole thing, Broadsword has remained silent, uncaring, and unhelpful.
Broadsword failed us again, apparently intentionally, as it does not take long to generate codes with a code generator. Most of my friends have left for better games which begs the question, why do I stay? Poo was correct in saying that this is not the straw that breaks the camels back but does make me question the amount of money I am spending on a company that has historically failed it's customer base time and time again.
They are supporting 2 clients that are outdated and lacking instead of fixing one. I know the value of the CC to many so I am not opposed to sticking with it. Why not fix the issues with it, enlarge the play screen (do not insult us and say that it cannot be done as there are third party programs out there that do just that, the game was created for 13 and 15 inch monitors yet now you cannot even find anything smaller than a 19 inch), and add some of the features that UO Assist and the EC have so neither are needed. Concentrate on one client.
They do not listen to the customer base, which is literally dying off. I would imagine that the majority of the remaining players are in the 35-65 category. We are not children that change our minds on a whim and want everything yet other games get more support and better communication from the development team.
Account management, while I have had no issues with it, others have had a horrendous experience. Returning players cannot figure out how to reactivate their accounts, people whose credit cards are expiring cannot always update, and there is apparently no longer a customer service number to call and get help with these issues. Way to go EA/Broadsword! We feel the love and the desire from you to build and expand our player base.
Codes, Codes, Codes, some games even have a way to purchase things in game whether they are on sale or not yet we cannot even purchase codes during a sale at all. If the game is hurting for funds that much, then why put out an expansion before building the player base. I am afraid to think about how someone looking to start UO would think when they look up the game and find glaring issues like this over and over again.
These codes are just further proof that they do not care about the remaining player base. I have spent so much of my time the past few years defending UO but I cannot bring myself to do that any longer. I do not care for SotA or Shards as much as I do for this game but I am finding myself drawn to them more and more. It's almost as if EA/Broadsword does not want to pull the plug due to player base outcry so they are just driving the player base away so they can shut down UO in silence.
An I leaving because of this? Sadly, no but I will be re-evaluating the money and time I am currently investing while taking a serious look at alternatives. If EA/Broadsword does not want to listen to or take our money, I know there are other companies that will jump at the chance.
OK let me get this straight, Origin is owned by EA. Origin/EA had a sale in the Origin Store. EA owns UO but has BS manage the game for them but collects all the money. So far EA OWNS everything and collects all the money and hired BS to manage UO and DAoC, so why the HELL is Origin waiting for BS to do anything. BS are just game managers and nothing more, Origin/EA should be telling BS what the HELL to do not the other way around.I talked to Origin Support a few minutes ago they are also WAITING on communication from BS. Looks like BS need someone with REAL management and communication skills. I don't know what to say beyond that.
That sounds right to me, explains why they were stocked for the first few hours but pulled quickly.Like a few others have mentioned, my theory is that Origin did this sale, and BS was not aware. Why on earth would BS not take the opportunity to let their playerbase know about such a great sale? Once BS became aware, they realized that this would cut seriously into their projected sales dollars and had the items pulled.
I could be completely incorrect, but the whole "running out of codes" thing sounds pretty weak.

If they have to provide annual or semi annual or quarterly revenue predictions to Origin for the UO brand, and they were not aware of the sale, they could quickly see that a surge of purchases of items at half off would throw their prediction / budget into the toilet in the bigger picture. I am not saying that I know this to be the case here, but have certainly seen other organizations with "subbed-out" management arms work in this way.See that doesn't make sense to me because I'd think more sales (which they undoubtedly would have) would easily offset the revenue lost per sale.
...especially considering NOBODY bought anything the last few days
I quoted you because of what you were told by Origin, not because I disbelieve you because I thought this from day one that it was UO/BS that did this intentionally.Don't shot the messenger!
Okay, I still wuvs ya, too!I quoted you because of what you were told by Origin, not because I disbelieve you because I thought this from day one that it was UO/BS that did this intentionally.
Amazing that they can get things working now that the sale is done and over with.Game time Added back to the store
So is it your opinion that there is a different code for everything and so far they have generated codes for the 3 GTC only. Then how did they run out of all codes at the exact same timeAmazing that they can get things working now that the sale is done and over with.
That would be this bridge the Brooklyn BridgeAnyone who believes they ran out of codes..... The Golden Gate Bridge is for sale too.
No not at all, it is my opinion that when they realized that there was a sale, they pulled all of their products. Now that the sale is over, they are going to add things back piece by piece trying to simulate that there was some sort of error and that they are working on getting it resolved. I never once believed that they ran out of codes or anything even close to that. In my opinion, this was done intentionally so that their items could not be purchased during the sale. That post was pure sarcasm. So is it your opinion that there is a different code for everything and so far they have generated codes for the 3 GTC only.
