If only someone would invent some electronic way for people to interact on a realtime basis, and for business to be conducted the same way...

Why is this still down? Will they extend the end date because of this? How hard is it to create more codes? Would be nice if or DEVs/Producer would give updates. If you went to UO.COM you wouldn't know if something was wrong, or that there was a sell to begin with.

Well we're screwed. Please Kyronix, we're adults here tell us the truth don't blow sunshine up our butts. Cause I talked to Origin Store (NO) Support via their chat option and they claim EA/Origin are no longer supporting UO. I was told to contact [email protected] that was the correct support for UO not Origin/EA. Hmm and I asked simply where the UO items and game time went. I don't buy this and I just blew a bunch of money in Origin Store. Please don't do us like they did Warhammer cause when they shut it down they supposedly were working on something new too.

That was just the 30 day time codes. This time EVERYTHING UO is gone! Timecodes, Stygian Abyss expansion, High Seas, add on type items, transfers, etc. You search the Origin store for UO or Ultima Online and it say "Sorry nothing matches your search". If you use a link you get a 404 error. This does not bode well. :(

Probably like the rest of you I was filling in gaps on my accounts. Why you can only buy 1 of something at a time, I never understood this. Is there a number or place to call to complain? Will someone please post that info and I will do so. Thanks in advance.

It makes me laugh that you can still buy all the codes on 3rd party sites without any problems just not on the "official" website.

I wonder if they will extend the sale on the UO items as I think we will be lucky to have them back in the store before the sale finishes. Lets see...

well.... i still can't buy at the origin store anyway! all they do is tell me they try to find out whats wrong with my account and that they will get back via mail and than i get a mail asking me if the problem is solved *chuckles* and today i got a mail again and I tried to buy uo stuff to find out if the problem is solved and thought .... great now they f.... up everything no UO at origin anymore!

bet they are not able to solve my problem befor the sale ends and it will be the second sale this year i miss!

I have this feeling that the UO items were actually dropped because of the sale. It wouldn't surprise me that there was miscommunication between EA and Broadsword and EA failed to inform them of the Origin summer sale.
Most of the UO stuff on sale at the Origin store aren't consumables, so they won't see repeated sales and thus there is a "loss" of profit for Broadsword over each purchase during a sale.
Mythic tokens, for one, will see usually at most 7 purchases per account, and they were at a high discount price, so Broadsword "lost" a fair bit of money over those purchases.

Why not just create a new Origin account to buy UO items with?

Use an email not associated with any of your UO accounts like I do, so if your Origin buy from the store account gets hacked, they can see the codes you have purchased but they won't know any of the emails you use to log in over at Mythic account management.


We really need 3 accounts to play UO these days;

1. a buy UO items at Origin store account (using non UO account related email for safety reasons),

2. a log into Mythic/Broadsword website account using the email associated with our UO account (to manage our UO accounts), and,

3. our UO account using the name we originally created for it when we set it up to actually log into and play UO.

Okay talked to Origin store by phone, the nice young man said it may take a couple of days, but UO stuff will be back. We aren't being sunset-ed. I really want to do like the Monty Python troupe says and "Look On The Brighter Side Of Life". This still makes me anxious.

So much for upgrading some of my accounts and getting other stuff. By the time this is resolved the sale will be over. UO just lost cash, so sad.

I have to disagree on the consumable part. Pens, Xfer tokens, Staffs, Forge tools, etc, should all be in constant flow. In fact, I hve no doubt that the flow would be greater if these prices were the norm, instead of on sale. Especially the Xfer, I wont buy one at normal price, it's too high. But at current price I might buy one a month or more. I don't understand the pricing, I mean, seriously, where is the overhead in randomnly generating a code?

I am hoping that they do get more codes before the end of this sale. I told one friend who was able to buy a full SA account for a little more than subscribing to a trail account. Now they are going to get a monthly because he is going to run it and play the toons he got with his mythic tokens. I had other friends go back a few times for soulstones. It certainly didn't lose them money imo. A lot of people who are on budgets such as myself spent more cash wise than I would have at the store in the next six months. I just don't think they were prepared to actually have the codes sell so quickly, but a lot of people jumped on this sale.

Those are, in fact, the very few consumables we have on the store.
I find it baffling that we don't have more consumables there. Those actually see repeating sales, which brings an influx of cash to the company.
I know I would be spending far more on the store if there were more consumables. And I already spend a fair bit of money there every month, not counting game codes.

The official statement is not convincing, because game time codes weren't on sale and are still out of the store. It is hard to buy that "powerful" carpenter's bench sold out all it's codes too...

I had to wait until payday (today) to buy the items I wanted and now that I can buy them I can't so it seems EA/UO does not want my cash.

I shot off an email at broadsword here what I wrote:

There is NOTHING for UO in the origin store. No gametime, no items, no expansions or ANYTHING! Kyronix said on stratics they would be refilled. If they were only empty or out of stock, why did they delete the items completely from the Origin store? Please tell us something. This lack of communication is unprofessional and unfair to your loyal long time customers. You didn't even bother to tell us that UO items were on sale in the Origin store. One person found out by accident and shared it via word of mouth. Please, please, please communicate with us. We should not have to beg for communication or for you to take our money. This is so pathetic after have a UO account with you for 13 years. Other companies like Volkswagen reward customer loyalty but you seem just kick us in the proverbial teeth. Thank you for your time.

Well from what I am understanding about the codes. The codes are assigned to items as purchased so if they are out of codes that are verified a new batch must be produced. There was something about changing over codes a while back so this may have been the last batch of older codes? Now they are working on sending out newer codes, but to me a few days is to long not to have them in stock. There could be someone out there who needs game time codes. Now if you think outside the box, it could be that third party sites were buying the discounted codes for future resale once prices went back to normal after the sale. Quite possible they are just stalling now to prevent more loss of revenue from future sales going to these sites.

It's Friday night and still no codes and does anybody believe that EA/BS/UO is going to work on Sat or Sun to fix this, now that would truly be a cold day in Hades. Sale ends Monday and the codes will be back 1001 am PDT and not a minute sooner. Congrats to those that had the money and got in on the OOPS DEALS.

As usual they have buggered up the works I wanted soulstones and raised garden beds but no they take it down. There problem is they need an expeditor some one who can lead and get things done other than the bull in the china shop approach happhazard mayhem is not the way to make money.

Never in all my years of running a business, have I ever seen a company like EA/Broadsword. Their customers are begging, dying, and pleading for them to take their money for items that don't physically exist! And yet EA makes it so they can't do it.
They should really be ashamed of themselves.

I am truly wondering if EA is the ones that did this or if IMHO BS had them take it down. Really how hard is it to get a computer to generate more codes and place them on the site. EA not BS runs the store/codes so you are telling me that EA can not do this, give me a break. We wonder why people get pissed and leave or do not buy from them anymore. EA and BS are losing a ton of sells all because of this bullcrap. The sell is going on and the only items that are missing are UOs and nothing else, why is that. UO is so in demand that all the codes were used up but no other codes. Are there specific codes for just UO or does the store use codes and just tells the claim computer what it is. If there is a code for each item then how did all of UOs run out at the same time. Give me a break the store did not just run out of codes just for all of UO's items. BS is giving us a load of BS.

The only way this could happen is if BS generates a batch of codes to hand off to Origin, say 200 or so, and they are assigned to an item as customers buy them. Rinse, repeat.

While it is a woefully inefficient system that makes no logical sense, it fits right in with the rest of UO... :rolleyes2:

Hopefully, this all gets sorted when BS releases UO's new all-in-one website...last month... :gee: *marks the website down as yet another broken promise/carrot*

Yeah there's not a chance of codes coming back before the sale ends. They're not going to put one ounce of work in over the weekend, even something as simple as supplying codes to an online store.

Why would EA, who owns and runs the store, have separate codes for UO? This makes no sense at all. I still think BS asked EA to take the items down because UO needs all the money it can get and only wants to sell things at full price. The last time we had a sale didn't something happen just like this?

I am truly disappointed at how this turned out. During this whole thing, Broadsword has remained silent, uncaring, and unhelpful.

Broadsword failed us again, apparently intentionally, as it does not take long to generate codes with a code generator. Most of my friends have left for better games which begs the question, why do I stay? Poo was correct in saying that this is not the straw that breaks the camels back but does make me question the amount of money I am spending on a company that has historically failed it's customer base time and time again.

They are supporting 2 clients that are outdated and lacking instead of fixing one. I know the value of the CC to many so I am not opposed to sticking with it. Why not fix the issues with it, enlarge the play screen (do not insult us and say that it cannot be done as there are third party programs out there that do just that, the game was created for 13 and 15 inch monitors yet now you cannot even find anything smaller than a 19 inch), and add some of the features that UO Assist and the EC have so neither are needed. Concentrate on one client.

They do not listen to the customer base, which is literally dying off. I would imagine that the majority of the remaining players are in the 35-65 category. We are not children that change our minds on a whim and want everything yet other games get more support and better communication from the development team.

Account management, while I have had no issues with it, others have had a horrendous experience. Returning players cannot figure out how to reactivate their accounts, people whose credit cards are expiring cannot always update, and there is apparently no longer a customer service number to call and get help with these issues. Way to go EA/Broadsword! We feel the love and the desire from you to build and expand our player base.

Codes, Codes, Codes, some games even have a way to purchase things in game whether they are on sale or not yet we cannot even purchase codes during a sale at all. If the game is hurting for funds that much, then why put out an expansion before building the player base. I am afraid to think about how someone looking to start UO would think when they look up the game and find glaring issues like this over and over again.

These codes are just further proof that they do not care about the remaining player base. I have spent so much of my time the past few years defending UO but I cannot bring myself to do that any longer. I do not care for SotA or Shards as much as I do for this game but I am finding myself drawn to them more and more. It's almost as if EA/Broadsword does not want to pull the plug due to player base outcry so they are just driving the player base away so they can shut down UO in silence.

An I leaving because of this? Sadly, no but I will be re-evaluating the money and time I am currently investing while taking a serious look at alternatives. If EA/Broadsword does not want to listen to or take our money, I know there are other companies that will jump at the chance. :(
