Traders quest question

I think i have read all of the post about the traders quest but never saw an answer to the following question.

Does Luck have any effect on the rare drop? (if it was answer point me in the right direction)

I think Slim is a bit of a jerk at the moment, 100+ traders quest and no rare drop at all. He sit there drinking top shelve rum runners while I bust my hump for him. I have gotten a few nice pinks, tho.

Any tips you want to toss my way, i am will humbling take them.

luck has no effect. using a moongate does

luck only effects the loot on the ambushers if you stop to kill them that is.
only thing that effects the quest is the use of moongates.
use them and your chance at a rare drop goes to 0.

I have found the rare drop rate to be abysmal. I've gotten one sign in about 250 quests. But the SOT rate is a nice condolence.

If you are trying for the mempo, just give up.
With it's drop rate, we are better off considering it doesn't exist at all.

Something like that, yes.
I don't get the point of adding an interesting, not overpowered by any means, item to the game and then make it impossible to acquire.

it does increase if you kill the Mobs

Absolutely! That's my main purpose behind doing them all the time. It's an effective way to increase the cities coffers and it gets me some nice pinks.

Well, the drop rate for me being the "Good girlie scout" in 100+ trades (not sure on the exact amount) but i have gotten all 9 books and 3 signs (all different). Oh MalagAste please don't mention that bloody moonstone jewelry. My char still gets hives thinking about all the murders she committed. LOL I know of only 1 i think, set on my shard.. she may have only been a piece or two.

All i want is the black book. I am a legendary book horder. Of course, i still don't have a full set of all the Ter Mur books (1st, collector, limited).

in fact.... i should have a video on how to do it under 90 seconds per run.

I myself do not find that video to be as useful as it seems. The three boats at the dock will be moved to the middle of nowhere after about 10 mins and then you will spend more time finding shore to get them dry docked. =/

they are good there for 30 minutes and when they move them they only move about 3 screens which takes 30 seconds to move back into place.

i was running that smuggler quest in 90 seconds per which is a heck of a lot faster then running from trinsic to minoc any given day.... and twice on sunday.

you could run the poor man version of that quest, just run out onto the mag dock, hop a small boat across the straight and pick it up and continue to run. only adds a minute onto the run, still a lot faster then any other run.

still, its nothing i would want to do 10,000 times just to get a black book or a mempo.
it was boring enough doing it to get the title!
