i have inscription on my main mage.
i havnt had to make anything for a while, all my spellbooks are full.

tonight i needed to whip up a couple books and i went to go get my inscription suit out of the bank and noticed it looked a little drab. after seeing all the 'Legendary This' and Legendary That' stuff i thought to myself it may be time to update my suit a little and in the process make it look a little sexier.
as sexy as inscription can be at any rate.
now, im sure anyone who has a scribe has a inscription suit tucked away in the bank or at home, yes?
a suit that is maxed out LMC and has every Mana Regen you can find on it and is of course medable.

so out shopping i went!
most of the pieces i picked up had LRC on them, which i dont need, but they where there so all the better. each piece was pretty much the same.
LRC 20-25
LMC 10
mana increase 10
int increase 5
mana regen 4

then i picked up a spell channeling mace with no penalty with 9MR on it and a shield again with SC and no penalty and has 4MR on it. funny enough the shield had mana and int increase 5.

at the end of the hour of fun i made a new scribe suit that is all bone armor (yes, its my fetish!) except the hat which as per union standards is the old trusted wizard hat!

when i was done i tallied up what the suit has on it.
LRC 175
LMC 85
MR 45
mana/int increase takes me to a total of 220 available mana.

now of course the lrc and the over capped lmc and anything past 30MR is wasted but i didnt care, i was having fun.
and what did it cost me?
figure around 100-200k per piece minus a couple pieces i had laying around already and the ring/watch/mace/shield that where like 20k each i was into the suit for under 1 million.

let me tell you, i wish i had this suit all those years ago when i was working up inscription!!!

now, just need to find a nice dye because we all know nothing makes the scribe like color coordination!

hahahahhahaha and ive already tried.

MR is covered by the diminishing returns formula, so once you've gone over 30MR the gains are so infinitesimal as to be not worth the effort.

30 is the hard cap. anything over 18 is generally too low to notice. like you said, novelty tho.

10 mr without int/focus/med factored = .8081 mps
18mr without int/focus/med factored = 1.0620 mps
30mr without int/focus/med factored = 1.3521 mrps

above that and the changes are in the third and fourth decimals only

that data you posted is almost a perfect linear line. I plotted it on a graph to see.

what it means is that UP TO 30 you actually gain good returns on your MR.
after 30 the gains drop off to pretty much nothing per point in MR and the higher you go the less they are until like what Smoot said you are gaining 1/1000 per point.
diminishing returns = the higher you go the less you gain after a point (for MR that point is 30)

It is not worth the trouble.

You have to slay at least 10 30K HP monsters and pray that they drop what you need or you will have to kill another. And there are 11 drops you need to finish the quest.
The time you will waste on the grind of this quest will be far greater than the time you will save with the mana regen downtime between each scribe session.

Now that you mention it, I managed to do the first part of this line of quests and then gave up
