Latest Event drop (Gem) : Is there still any Shard left to have the Event ?

Unfortunately, due to time constraints and inability to participate on my Shard, I missed the latest Event with the Gem drop.

Are there any Shards left to host the Event so as to be able to at least try get a drop ?

Also, how hard is it to have a drop ? Not being my Shard, clearly I will not be able to actively participate in the fighting and so, it is hard that I can have much looting rights.

I may try doing some healing but not sure with basic Magery how much that will be able to help out....

Based on my experience I think you need to do at least some damage to the dragon to get a drop. This is based off the fact that the one time I did the event and only healed, I did not get one. Perhaps someone else can confirm if they have been able to get a drop by only healing (and my experience was just RNG crapping on me).

My suggestion would be this...
Create a new character with 50 magery and 50 eval. Then buy 40 inscribe. Use the remaining gold to buy some fireball scrolls from the NPC Mage shop. Follow along with the event and as some of the lich corpses go public, grab some armor with some resist and maybe some lrc. You should be able to get a full lrc suit. Once you get to the final boss, blast away with your scrolls and try to stay alive...

Can anyone clarify all of this about "gems"? I didn't make it to any of these events and probably won't get to make any future ones either as they are all either too early in the evening (or in the morning if I try for one of the Asian shards) to get to any of them. All I've read so far is the one piece of fiction on the uo.com site and haven't seen any news reports indicating what happened at the events. Can anyone provide a transcript or at least a summary of what happened at the events, now that most of them are finished?

It's not necessary for all the players to own all 4 gems.

The fictions goes that Minax is in her stronghold outside of time and the only way the timelord can get us to her is by using these 4 gems. So it's the timelord that needs all 4, not all of us.

Also, out of the 4 shards events I've been to, the Napa EM is the only one that went into extreme detail about the fiction if you'd care to read, I copied verbatim what he said.

Though all the EM's were given the same story, they each chose to tell it in a different way. They all did very well.

• RP char opened a gate to somewhere near Doom.
• There was a huge black dragon there who asked us to kill the Liche Tyril. (The liche double crossed the dragon).

• We finally met Tyril and after a brief dialog, battle ensued.
• Once Tyril was dead, we went back to the black dragon.
• The black dragon would not give us the Sapphire of Doom therefore we had to kill him.

Editoral: This should've been a clicky b/c many people complained they did not get a drop. This doesn't bode well for the intro to the expansion in my opinion.

I agree 100% with this. Get seriously tired of this 1/10 to 1/20 drops and the other day we were told that the EM's asked for 300 to drop... 27 people got a drop there were well over 50 people there. So tell me that's right. And I know that folk were fighting the boss and GOT looting rights but didn't get a drop.

I did the same as you I only healed and rezed. I did not get a drop.

from what i gather, they are decorative only. in the end, the timelord needs to have the 4 gems. what he does with them i'm not sure. i guess he will open the portal to the expansion?

oh, and to give credit where credit is due....i was thrilled to see the black dragon was HUGE. he towered above all the greater dragons. there was no issue trying to pull up the power bar for the battle. THANK YOU DEVS! i hope all the bosses will be this size in the future.

And Angel you are part right I think! Once we have all 4 gems, the Timelord will be able to open a portal to Shadowguard (Minax's Stronghold) which is one of the new areas in the new expansion.

Kind of like how they did with KR, remember? All that stuff we had to do...with the runes and translations and ricardo and Inu and Sherry and OMG and then at the end we found out the website for the new client.

Which they'd do it that way again but this EM thing is kinda cool, I've enjoyed seeing how each EM tells the story.

Ah, so the gems are only for deco ? Not practical use for anything ?

If so, I worry less that I missed the first one, will just try to get the other 3 and live with it....

I think the biggest question to me is whether or not the 4 gems will be able to be combined into something else once the arch has finished. In that case, having all 4 would be necessary if you wished to have whatever they make when combined...

That was my concern but it looks like it has been dismissed and the Gems are only for decoration as it should be.

So, having just any amount less than 4 would not be a big deal, in the end.....
