*Poll * Merging Housing to one server

Just curious how people would feel if UO had their housing servers merged into one that was accessible by all shards.

Obviously there is much discussion to be had in regards on how to do it, if all housing should be, if other areas of the game should be... I.E: your house, my house, his house.

This is primarily just one big hypothetical question. Just think about it before answering. The possibility to meet new people when you are in your house and out of your house.

Yes will there be more chances of confusion, but let's try to focus on the positive outcomes first and actually see if there are any...

It is definitely an original idea, I can see this as a possible good option to end the "deadness" of some smaller shards. if it were possible for the devs to do it of course. Instead of placing a house on their home server, a person could choose to place their house on the "housing only area". Think of it like a floating shard in the clouds where people could bring items up there to decorate their house, and talk to anyone from any server that chooses to visit the "floating house area"

To prevent the transferring of items to other shards, the devs could make it so an item can only be brought from the "housing only area" back to whatever shard it originally came from. This would give people who play smaller shards an opportunity to socialize with players from other shards, without having to actually leave their home shard. Even if they don't have a house in the "housing only area" they could go there just to hang out with other people, then return to their home shard to do whatever they want there.

It's worth having a discussion about at least

Edit: Just to clarify my post, I didn't mean everyone should be required to move their house to the "floating housing area" just that it could be an option in the case that people want to play on a small population shard, but still be able to live where there are people to talk to often.

Look, I have the same Luna house on ATL and Pacific. If this change took place, those houses would be the same and different, and all of my stuff would still be there. PLUS all of your stuff would be there if you had the same plot. And what would be cool is that we would all log in, and all of our stuff would just be stuffed into that house. We could each talk to each other and make plans while we moved our stuff to our respective rooms. It would really be good for the community for all of the owners of all of the houses to get together in this way and it would break down all of these barriers created by highly populated shards vs dead shards.

Interesting idea though, I would totally put my house on a single server, I would love to meet people from other shards and do stuff with other people without having to log in and out of a dozen shards, I I love sharing my house

So, what if your 'room mate' has some weird brain tumor that makes him an ******* and he incessantly berates you with obscenities every time you log on, and I do mean each and every time you log on because he has no job to go to, he just plays UO -and now he plays UO just to harass YOU. You gonna sell your Luna house now? How much will you get for it with this guy screaming at all the prospective buyers?

Transfers take up to an hour to go from one server to another.

The Transfer system is so temperamental that their solution is to add a "Penalty" Timer that increases every time you mess up a transfer.

The Majority of actual dupes involved the transfer system.

Neat Idea, if the transfer system was setup for this sort of thing to begin with, but trying to do something like this with our current system/adding a new system on top of the old code. Baddd Idea.
