You can tell UO was developed by men...

The fact that female characters aren’t given the option to change their hair style on whim (without having to pay an arm and a leg) is all of the evidence I need. If a woman had been involved in the development of this game, a female character would be able to readily change their hair style whenever they wanted or needed to. I mean really?

How tough would it be to put on a helmet with buns? If I am out running around, I may want to throw my hair into a pony tail. If I am getting dressed up for a night at the player run local watering hole, I would want the option of having my hair down.

Granted we can change our hair styles, but at a huge cost.

Come on ladies, what other ways can you tell that women weren’t involved in the development of UO?

Blame the feminist not the men... they are the ones always complaining everything needs to be the exact same... equal cost for hair changes regardless of gender....

Why is Stratics almost entirely populated by people who are super bad at the game and think 25k here or a couple million there is a lot of money? I don't see people like that in the actual game very often.
The OP plays on Siege, 25k actually is still a decent amount of money there, and a couple million is a small fortune there. especially considering how often the OP seems to want to change their hair style it would add up pretty quickly.

I always said UO was sexist. You ever see Female Trolls? Ogres? Lizard"women"... Orcs don't even come in Female forms. Most mobs only come in male form except of course the succubus but they are always female... Pixies are the only ones missing a male form.

And of course there aren't enough styles of shoes!

Please note: This was supposed to be a fun Friday post, not something that would upset any of the posters.

Oh and by the way, a million is a lot of money for us, especially those of us who returned to the game just recently. Especially for those of us who just screwed up in game and wasted 1 million on a title I thought I was cancelling, not agreeing to buy. :)

On the positive side, I'm a Baroness in Yew now, lol.

Well, regardless of complaints so frequently made by both men and women, I still say, vive la difference! :)

  • The fact that most outfits make the female body look like they have flat butts, esp the beautiful Anniversary robe.
  • The fact that male characters turn into an awesome partially invisible wraith, that is hard to see, while females just look like the bride of Frankenstein.
  • The old menu for when you wanted to polymorph put females in the monster section
I'm sure I'll think of more ^_^

Now that I think about this, I recall another time someone raised a similar topic and was met with an angry screed from someone who said the opposite, that UO was sexist against men. His evidence consisted of Semidar's damage reflect. All the other things he was pointed out (human females on the "monster" menu for Tracking; wraith form for females being a wailing banshee; etc.), he deemed not real. All that mattered was Semidar.

I don't think this was supposed to be a "serious" post to all those hating..(I don't think)..but if it was! I'm all about mesanna adding in optional implants, and all sorts of cosmetic UO surgeries. I'll moonlight as the the surgeon. I'll only charge a measly 10m per procedure.

I guess that's a boon for the EC and going to the body sculptor... you get a change of undies.

Female characters get a bonus at the semidar champ spawn. Males don't. Female characters also get to wear all armor in the game. Males can't. Also, pretty much everyone is nice to females (except other females).

Back in the day, before everyone was a billionaire, I remember people used to play female characters for the sole purpose of begging for gold and items at WBB.

Hehe. But hey, in real life, changing your hairstyle at a salon is very expensive, too. If women have been unable to lower the prices of getting highlights in their hair, then why would they expect the in-game economy of what started as a medieval-themed game to offer low-priced hairstyle options? ;P

Regardless, I want beards on my Elves still :p.

Then should it cost me to throw my own hair into a pony tail or take it out of one? :p

Everyone is a Billionaire? I am sorry but no... everyone is NOT a billionaire... I've NEVER had that much gold.
