EC zoom level saves in XML file but resets at login to 16.0000

Why does the zoom level always now default back to 16.0000 at login? It is not the most optimal zoom for my monitor or for a 1080p monitor either as far as I can tell. My monitor btw is 1920x1200.

I had all my characters on every account and every shard set to 19.3065 zoom level for the best looking game window. Now when I login the client changes the zoom to 16.0000 and even if I change it and logout, it reverts back to 16.000 upon login again. WTF!

You can compare quite clearly that the correct zoom level is 19.3065. Why the hell does is change back to 16.0000 after I change it to where I want it?

Because the EC is buggy... I'm still waiting on the "fix" for looting at EM events. Once again on Tuesday the "Boss" Mob after the event was 100% unlootable by anyone in the EC after it went public. Tried 3x and each time it totally locked up the computer and forced me to close the client down. The "smaller" Mobs are lootable if you wait and wait and wait eventually the "client" and computer will catch up and you can loot them. Of course by the time you are done waiting for the game to stop being non-responsive... most all the good stuff is completely looted by folk in 2d... So it's a waste of effort.

Still pretty torked about it. This was working fine before and I never had a problem looting and infact was one of the quickest looters around until you all messed with the base client and everything. Ever since it hasn't been working at all and I'm becoming extremely frustrated. I just want to know if I can't loot anything and can't open a corpse WTF is the point of killing it? For the drop in my pack that I almost never get??? It takes the fun out of the events and takes the fun out of the game.

Also dying still takes a good while. Not as long as before but it still does take a good long while. Now if you want me to help test possible fixes then I'm all for it.

Yeah, since I've been playing the last few days, and reading Stratics, I seen your posts about that. Pretty messed up.

I have to say that so far I'm severely unimpressed and even disappointed with the state of the Enhanced Client. My zoom if screwed up. My icons and textures are gone. These new icons are horrid. I have hundreds of characters that had their UIs all set up now ALL have to be redone. I've already spent about five hours redoing all my main character's UIs.

I'm running at 1920 x 1080 (1080p) and at 16.000 everything looks crisp. Before they "fixed" the zoom level (using the * key) it would be all fuzzy like your picture at the top.

Yeah yours does look good. Definitely better than mine.

I don't get a clear & sharp screen until I zoom out 5 or 6 notches. It's really freaking annoying having to re adjust it every time I login.

I had the same issue before they applied the "fix". I would have to scroll out a couple of times on the zoom to get it to the correct zoom level.

Wouldn't be a problem if they just had textures for proper high resolutions to begin with.

Ok, it's been over two weeks since I posted this and no response from a dev or any reasonable explanation as to why this was changed and why does the saved setting in the XML file get reverted back to 16.000 upon login.

This is really pissing me off. You cannot get the exact right zoom level and 1:1 ratio of the classic client by using the +/- keys. You just can't get it exact. Close maybe. By why have to . When it's saved in the XML file it should use that setting.

Getting the screen to look right, ie.. as close to the classic client as possible, is the number one main reason I went ahead and switched to the Enhanced Client. Obviously I'm not gonna go back to using the Classic Client, I'm too hooked on EC features, hotkeys, macros, etc. but I'm not gonna keep playing and paying at all if my screen just looks like ****. One week and my two main, last accounts, go inactive. Correct this please.

Sorry you are having this issue. Please submit a bug report to [email protected] including whether you are using the default EC UI or a modded EC UI, and any additional information such as whether you are using disguise kits, or changing your characters name between logins, as well as what files you are changing when alter the zoom value. Confirmed!

This line in the character XML file;

<CameraZoom Value="19.3065" />

does not load correctly using Pinco's UI. Every single time I login, this value is changed back to 16.0000.
It does appear to save whatever zoom level you're at when you logout, however when you log back in, the value is reset to 16.000.



When using the default UI the value saves properly and is loaded properly and the screen looks excellent.

I crashed and froze trying to loot at an event on Oceania 3 nights ago, requiring a complete shut down and reboot. I bought it up at the 'meet and greet' the same night and was advised by @Kyronix that the 'default' ui was fixed for this issue. I run with @Pinko 's and it crashed so I guess 'next' event will have to test it in the default client to see if it actually 'is' fixed, unless someone else can confirm. Having said that, the issue does need to be fixed in Pinko's if that is the problem. Every single event now I crash using Pinko's as soon as you try to open the boss. The other night I had the boss open, and had just started to loot when the corpse went public and totally screwed me up. It is ok for the 'instanced' loot but once the thing switched to public and a gazillion items hit the corpse it was curtains. If you try to open the corpse once it is public it is instant freeze and client crash.

It's not fixed... nor has it ever been and you still freeze up when you die as well.. Dying at an EM event can take up to a min or more. Which IMO is unacceptable. And no matter if you are using the Default or Pinco's the client completely locks up whenever you try to open a public corpse with more than 50 items on it. This has been reported over and over and over to death....

However they "claim" that its fixed. IT is NOT. This has been an issue since they reverted and updated the UI back to some super ancient version of the EC when they put the upgrades into the base client they took the base client back to the beginning I'm guessing with all the bugs it had on first release... then added the updates that Pinco did for them. Then they released it back to us as a "new" UI.... which is an old EC with a half of what Pinco's normally has in it in a stripped down version of it without half the stuff that makes Pinco's worth using. Like the Pet Power calculator and such.... at any rate it is buggy as all get out.

I've given up all hope that they will ever "fix" anything that is plaguing the game or the EC. At this point I'm continuing my search for another game since this one seems on a collision course with destruction... It's like all they care to do anymore is change what isn't broken.... and ignore what is broken. As well as cater to the Rares community at the expense of community and they seem to want to destroy all history of the game and turn an MMO into a solo game.

So far we have lost at least one classic dungeon the only one that was friendly for young players and have had 2 cities totally destroyed... one turned into the ugliest trailer park... we've lost blackthrons keep in Illshenar which was a handy place if you were trying to do the useless and utterly insane Spellweaving quest... and now it's in shambles like half the game. What are they going to destroy next? Castle British? Guilds? Lets not forget the loss of factions.... for something that again caters to the rares collectors. PvPers don't deco... what do they care about much of the rewards.

UO has gone far from where it was when it was enjoyable. Now most things are either a grind or boring. I grew hopeful when they started the EM program back up.... though I have found that it's more frustrating than enjoyable. Nothing is done about the Greed issues. So much greed out there now getting the drop is all half the folk care about.... It's like getting gold has become so important I keep wondering is that the "goal" of UO now? To make billions in gold so that you can sell it for RL $ and make a buck??? I had high hopes for the Governor program thinking this was finally going to be a way to get things going but instead it's been only a way to make a few people spend gold. I wonder how many folk actually use the "buffs"... and I can say that I'm fairly certain VERY few have taken advantage of granted titles... Sadly as Governor you don't actually get to "do" anything for your city. You get to attend extremely boring meetings... that oft times are attended by ONLY the Role-players, people who think they can complain to the DEV's ... and the EM's. No one else cares and sadly anyone who isn't a role-player doesn't really show up most the time. Nothing ever happens at the events... and well 9 times out of 10 any idea's presented take so long to get approval you are pretty much out of office before you even get an answer let alone an action. And since I've heard it 100 times you can't get anything "added" to your city at all since EM's are NOT decorators. Though that seems to depend on the shard and the EM's.


Sadly I had thought that the Governor program might actually help cities and do things to actually make Cities other than Luna more functional, friendly and enjoyable. Silly me.

I'm really trying to stick with EA/Broadsword here and keep playing but I just seem to get more and more frustrated over stupid crap like this everyday.

Up until a couple of days ago I hadn't even looked at Shroud of the Avatar. Then I did and holy smokes it looks awesome! It's crazy how much getting into a house will be but with no monthly subscription fee and by closing once and for all my last five UO accounts I could easily cover a $500-800 pledge.

I'm really feeling like this might finally be it for me and UO. Sad times though really. Most all of my characters are older than my children. Liquidating everything could take months. Maybe I'll just delete it all and be done with it.

I'd actually give it an edge over SotA since it's designed to be completely moddable. The limitations on content, and rule sets are only limited by the creativity of the portion of the player base the decides to host and run their own servers.
