It appears to be broken this morning. I've tried on 3 different shards and get the message "Your search criteria is too vague. Please refine your criteria and try again."
I hope they are adding the missing items we've been asking for.

It seems to be broken on all shards at the moment, tried Atlantic, Pacific, Formosa, Sonoma, and Balhae
Is it still not working?
Just to bring this thread up to date, vendor search is working fine for me this evening on GL (using EC)

Working on Atlantic while playing CC again too! 
Ok, maybe not "broke." Just "bent". I have a Rogues' Guild sign on Lake Superior. If I search for "Guild" I can see other guild signs but not mine. I can, however, see it if I search for "Rogue". I even tried specifically typing in the "Rogues' Guild" description.
Yeah, I have vendors that sometimes don't show up, and sometimes do.
So I'm still showing LOTS of my items on my vendors that aren't showing up on search. It really is frustrating.
I use search a lot not only for shopping, but to price compare to make sure my prices are within the current market so I can tell when my items aren't showing up. Out of 20 searches this morning... 3 of them had my items showing up.
Different vendors involved. All vendors shown as being opted in for the search. Some items put on this morning, but almost all of them have been on longer than that. Now I don't know if it makes any difference, but my "new" vendor has it's items showing up... most of my other ones are quite "old" and from long before search existed I think. Their items have shown up in the past, just they seem to be not on there more often than not.
Is a vendor being "pre-search" a factor?

It's going to be a pain in the butt, but I'm going to drop a couple of my vendors and replace them with new ones to see if it makes a difference in the search results.
Update. I replaced one of my vendors with a "new" vendor and moved all the stuff back to it. I tested it soon after and I have been doing random tests on it since. All the items (that I tested) are now showing up via the in-game search. The remaining older vendors still have most of their items seeming to not exist on search even though I've toggled their "opt in" several times.
If you are having problems with your "opt-in" vendors showing up and they are older vendors, I would suggest placing a new vendor and putting your items on it. So far it seems to have fixed the problem for me.

Darn. Looks like I'm still having issues. I have a Dragon Head on my vendor (the one from spring clean-up)... Been on there a couple days... search doesn't show it. It is showing the same item on other vendors... one for 3m and one for 4m (Mine is 250k...). However, an Elven Tapestry... same box and vendor is showing up on search.
I really, really enjoy running my shop, but it is very frustrating to be losing money on vendor fees because items aren't showing up on search. Yes, I know at one time we didn't have search, but we do now and by not showing up on it... I am at a disadvantage against those that are. I want to give my customers good deals and fair pricing, but if I'm not an option... it becomes more difficult to find them.

I am seeing the opposite problem. Four months ago, on January 30th, I dropped all of my vendors on Balhae. Now, four months later, over 60 items those vendors once held are still visible in vendor search results.
I know that items will stay sometimes when bought. If you try to make a map, it will try and say it is no longer available. Once that happens it seems to "update" the list and remove that one item.
