Mesanna, any chance of a Siege style ruleset shard that we can transfer into?

Siege has such potential but shows it doesn't want new players, only returning Siege players and is unwilling to permit change to perhaps draw prodo players to it. Can we get a copy of Siege that people can transfer to and bring their stuff with them as can be done between prodo shards, or at least transfer their stuff to a character made there if characters won't transfer there due to code difficulties?

Get a copy of Siege? Many players cry there are to many servers already.

Transfer to Siege? Siege was specifically designed to not allow transfers either way.

I think their time is better served working on this new release than messing with this low population shard.

If you make a copy of Siege the actual Siege will be abandoned (mostly). If you transfer to Siege the valuables converting issue persists. People should create a new char there - but there's a problem that rare things are a symbol of social status. No rares = you're poor newb even if you are a respected player since the beta that has helped literally everyone, have participated in every event and have a lot of server births etc.

The population is so tiny that even one new player by himself can do whatever he wants.
There is a decent community to boot.

We get it, you've been tossing the idea of transferring to Siege for a while now. Yet, you've missed the point of every one of the current players replies on the topic.

You want to be able to transfer your deco items from your prodo shard to Siege...why? So you can decorate your house the way you do on the production shard. But because many of us have voiced our concerns about Siege getting flooded with duped gold and items, we some how don't want new players.

I am sorry you feel that way, but it's rubbish.

Of course we want new players, the problem is and always has been, the moment you allow transferring onto Siege...the moment you trash the economy. Once again, I'm sorry you've missed that point, but you need to understand the ramifications of your idea.

I will say it again SIEGE is a shard to be PLAYED. Go back and sit in your nicely decorated house on whatever shard you came from, enjoy it, then come back to Siege and just play the game. This is what I do, I decorate on LS and play Siege.

You can doubt it, but you would be wrong. You are the first person to push this type of idea for a very long time. The only reason you want this to get approved is so you can transfer over deco items for your home on Siege.

Please don't take this wrong, but if this weren't for a selfish reason, I'd give it more consideration.

Tanivar, maybe make a list of item you need, there may be people who want to sell them to you or even trade them with item, gold on their prodo shard.
You could also be lucky at a IDOC and find some of the items.
Ruining the shard just to make you happy is not the way.

Maybe copy a character to siege like we do now for the test center, but with restrictions on what we are able to bring to siege with us.
Everything you want to bring over needs to be in your backpack, and bank box no pack animals. This way players will be very choosey on what to bring with them.
Off the top of my head no blessed deeds, blessed items with mods on them, or EM items from other shards.

I find it kinda funny some think vet players don't want players coming to Siege when I see them wanting players to come to Siege. I see them setting up events and inviting anyone to come over. I play on Siege not once was I ever told I wasn't wanted on Siege, and to leave I find the Siege players great players to be around.

Its actually much easier to make a player on Siege because of the RoT. Plus it takes less of everything when you make a crafter. Jewels or items aren't a problem either. People on Siege are very generous when it comes to helping people, they will give you scrolls, jewels, armor and gold most of the time.

Post on the Siege shard forum or just yell in Gen Chat, tell them you are new and what you need for help. The people are super helpful and nice. Plus most of the reds left will give you a pass if they know your new till you get your char up and geared.

Obviously it's just his way of displaying his disapproval for people not liking his idea. Of course vets want new players. Like I said to him on the siege thread the only time anything EVER got done on siege it was spearheaded by one or more "vets". It's been a bit of a fad lately of people coming in and bashing vets.

No offense but I believe his point was that 99% of Siege pvpers roll with stealth and hiding.
Kinda odd to me also as I always thought the idea behind going to the shard was to experience more risk and peril.
Stealthing around 24/7 to avoid confrontation and maybe hopping in on a dismount gank here and there really doesn't seem too risky to me.
Couple that with the fact that there is a longstanding Siege tradition of placing your foes items on your vendor for them to easily buy back and I really don't see why any Siege players ever try to advertise anything special at all...
Siege definitely has a nice little community but so do most of the other dead or almost dead shards. It's just a matter of small numbers

Hiding is if we nerf stealth, so they only can move in walk speed and let areal spells and poison unhide stealthers and hiders, make exp poison useful again

exactly goldberg hit it on the head. i really think "official" uo could gain some people if it made some of the dead shards into variable rulesets, gain players from the freeshards who prefer different eras in UO.

i think a full loot pvp shard with armor circa 2004 and maybe one pre-aos would bring back players to official UO. Until then, the majority of UOers will play on the non-official servers and youl be left with players like me who only continue to pay the sub for deco / item-dependent suit building / EM events.

we all know OSI UO is the minority of UO players now, i suppose yes i must just accept that fact and let the populations here die in peace rather than causing an uproar from the very small groups of players on shards like balhae, arirang, lake austin and origin. any of those shards would be prime canditates for a conversion, it would be a renassiance most likely increase those pops by 3000 percent or more. 10-100 unhappy players there could go to other shards. i dont see any drawback at all.
