Hi all, I have just hit 100 orders (trammel) and I am now getting 5piece orders. I have not yet recieved any of the special rewards. Am I just unlucky? or how many trade orders I must do before i get "the good stuff" ? Any info would be much appreciated

The only requirement to get the rare rewards is that you NOT use the moongates. You have to run or sail all the way.

can we get the special rewards anytime as long as we run the whole way or the bigger the order the better chance there is?

You have a small chance to receive one of the more rare rewards each time you do a quest and not use a moongate. It does matter what size the order is.

OOPS! I just realized a typo mistake I made in this post. It does NOT matter what size the order is, sorry bout' that. :)

I had one last week where the city got 92K. I got a .7 macing SoT, it cost me about 5K to fill, so once I sell the SoT, I'll make a 65K profit.

Sure that wasn't since you started NOT to use moongates, don't believe you can get a rare reward if you use moongates.

Far as I know you can't get the items if you use moongates.

I have noticed if you use the moongates the longer you do it the worse the rewards. Odd but true

If you use the moongates the most exciting reward you can possibly get is an SoT.

If you want one of the rares: Don't. Ever. Use. The. Moongates.

Once I hit 5 line trades, I switch characters and start over again. I have 2 sets of books and 20 of the signs now. I have not noticed a decline in getting the rares doing this. I can do the quests on any character build (providing I run and not fight lol)

This system is a good way to get a lot of pinks, and an awful system to get resources, which is what they seemed to be aiming this at first. :|

I've completed the longest walking quest from the top of the lands to the bottom, fought 7 ambushes and killed them all, the city received almost 70k and I only received a .1 SoT. Until someone who knows what they're doing fixes the RNG for anything and everything, don't expect to get a good reward just because you've done a certain number of quests.

Oh, and this is on Siege by the way, you know *wink wink* Risk vs Reward, and Double resources that aren't turned on, etc etc..

I agree and believe that totally Philly, I even think it's something like the fishing quests, that once you "lose your reputation" it takes forever to get back to where you were.

It isn't. There's no loss of "stature" for any action, aside from karma and loyalty for going to Slim.

If you take your order to the right city:
• 1 in a set of story books with a unique story from each of the loyalty cities. Each player is eligible for one set of books and will receive a new one each time a book is rewarded.
• A random NPC guild sign engravable with a wooden container engraving tool
• Random resources for blacksmithing, carpentry, tailoring, and imbuing
• A random 0.1 – 1.0 Scroll of Transcendence
• A deposit of funds will also be made to the origin city’s treasury.
• Players received positive Karma and City Love in the destination & origin cities if trade orders are turned into the City Trade Minister

If you take the order to Slim in Felucca:
• A skeleton key
• A random magic item
• a random 0.1 - 1.0 Scroll of Transcendence
• A rare chance at “An Expired Voucher for a Free Drink at the Fortune’s Fire Casino”
• A rare chance at “Forged Artwork from King Blackthorn’s Castle”
• A rare chance at “Slim the Fence’s Little Black Book”
• An rare chance at “Slim’s Shadow Veil,” an uber shadow colored leather mempo with Faster Casting 1
• Players received negative Karma and City Hate in the destination & origin cities if trade orders are turned into Slim the Fence. (This WILL cause you to lose your Governor title)

There are also several reward titles you can get based on the number of orders you turn in.

This is what throws me for a loop. My archer, running 5 line orders, gets leather and scales. An undeveloped necro I had, chosen because he would be at one line orders, got a sign each on his 1st and 2nd runs. It's crazy, is there anyway for the archer to lose status to get back down to one liners?

I am pretty sure you can steal the items out of the crates so you don't have to spend as much resources if you don't want to
hahahahahahhahahha (at least on siege you can)

Sorry I made a typo mistake. I meant to say the order size does NOT matter.

Kyronix said so when the system was in development, then again after it went live.
I have searched and searched and find no statement from him about "reputation" or loss of for using moongates, can you tell me where I might find that? I have found what he said about the rares not dropping but nothing about whether or not when you use moongates for a while, then go back to running/sailing, whether there is a gain back "reputation" time. My experience tells me there IS a penalty of some sort that persists for some time after using moongates and then going back to non magical travel.

The only quest related reputation penalty I"m aware of is with Fishing. If you resign from a fishing quest, you definitely lose some reputation. I've taken many moongates on Trader quests, and never had a drop in items requested , just crappy rewards.

And that's exactly my point, "just crappy rewards", that happens everytime I get sick of sailing and do a few moongates, going back it's "crappy rewards" and no guild signs for some length of time after which they drop at a fairly decent and somewhat predictable rate. I don't know about book drop rate because I finished my set a long time ago.

And same for the reputation loss and what we are "aware of". Sometimes things get fouled up without even the devs knowing it, just sayin'.

He said it to me in game when I asked, as I had cancelled a few quests and wondered if that had set back the progression somehow.

There is NO reputation involved in this. AT ALL. You run the order to the cities. If you don't use the moongates you have a chance at the rare rewards, if you do use the moongates you don't. Number of items increases in a linear fashion, this system isn't like the fishing quests.

Okies, but that still doesn't make me any less skeptical. As I said, my experience is the only thing I can judge on and I guess I could say it is just the RNG but I have went back and forth using moongates and not using them and every time I do I go for many many quests before I get another sign. I'll drop this and just chalk it up on my side to "agree to disagree".

I want people to know, I don't resent you for going "A few million gold per month or whatever? I'm incompetent so that seems like a lot! I need a whole system designed to let me pay for trade deals in as awkward and inefficient way as possible!"

Rather, I resent the devs for making it yet another ultragrindy RNG fest.
