Moonglow Spawn Change....Completely Illogical

Just a quick preface....I've either hung or lived in Moonglow for ever since I logged on...multiple shards including Atlantic, Chessie, Mugen and my current shard which is Siege where I have lived for 12 years or so.

The deal that was done to apparently tone down the Water El/Sea Serpent spawn on Moonglow is one of the most bizarre decisions ever made. It was ideal for new folks showing up who wanted to train skills and perhaps make a buck. Not everyone wants to screw around at graveyards.

I would urge whomever that changed this code to reconsider. I don't believe that stuff like this is beneficial to either the growth of Siege Perilous or UO.

The spawn was toned down to make it easier for boats to navigate to the port for players doing the fishing quests.

Patch notes said something abt reducing the spawn at the mouth of the Moonglow harbor.
If you ever tried to take a boat in/out of there is was always full of serpents and water elementals.
I did for months until I realized for fishing quests u just have to cross into the city's server line.
HUGE time saver, btw. I gotta agree with Barania for different reasons tho.
Seems like a waste of time when they could making MUCH better use of their time.
So there was a lot of monsters there? Who really cares... deal with it.

The extreme spawn in that bay plainly was a bug and was disruptive of other content, namely fish related content and trade missions. It probably survived as long as it did because there's only been good enough reasons to use boats the last several years. I never heard anyone defending it until just now -- long after the bug was fixed.

I guess my question is if it was a bug....then why did it take 15 years or so to get around to fixing it. I honestly don't care...I got a couple chars that can kill pretty much what they want wherever it is. I spend most of my time living at my joint inside a mountain.

If fixing bugs is important then wtf hasen't anybody ever gotten around to fixing the black pearl spawn in Moonglow at server reset. It's been busted since the games inception. Is that a bug or a feature?

It wasn't really a bug as we think of bugs but with the fishing quests in the high seas expansion people whined about going in and out of port being clogged with them so they toned them down.

I hear ya on this and know nothing about the boats. It would seem like a boat captain might have Magery skills or have someone on board that could cast an explosion/flame strike combo...dead water els or serps in about 3 secs.. I just don't understand why the game is changed because boat people think they can sail around willy nilly without the correct resources.

When I bust out a tamer and dragon.....regs, food, and whatever else is required is in my backpack.
