I'm not sure about this one mate but I'm sure somebody else does.If I cast stone form ( myst ) and have protection on it says -2 FC -if I now put on jewels it goes back to 0 , so I assume the jewels help here?
If it's -2, you will cast even slower. Protect is automatic 0 FC, no matter how much you have above it, and stone form is a -2 - to remain at 2/6 in stone form (without protection up), you'll need 4/6 casting (displayed, mystic spells are still subject to the 2 FC cap)OK Thanks - now a different question.

and I assume FCR of 6 is always a good thing and does not vary with anything?

As for FCR, you can go higher than 6, but it won't do you any good. Years back, I never went above 2/5 since I didn't chain spells fast enough for the recovery to be an issue. I still don't, but 2/6 is easy to get, so all of my mages have it when I pvp.
Tell me more about this "Mystic Archer" - that sounds very interesting. It was always my assumption that Protection/-FC couldn't put you below zero? I run with protection on my Mystic Archer with a SC/-1 FC bow and my FC shows as 0, not -1 or -2. If I'm wrong I might start running with the trade buff to see if I cast alittle faster.
Glass cannon is about right. I use a similar concept using a gd as a tank and bushido for luck/damage increase@Parnoc Basically just mystic/focus/archery/chiv. I use rising colossus to tank and enemy of one plus a slayer bow. I think a mystic thrower makes more sense since you can fly with an RC (I die alot to paragons/quick critters if they retarget to me) but gargoyles are just so damn ugly! The challenge is really balancing stats since you need all three to be high. I believe it's what some call a "glass cannon," I can deal great damage but die easily.
