Rumors and suspicions are high in Vesper. Investigators are hard at work trying to root out corrupt elements within and related to the city. With treachery unfolding in my beloved Vesper once more, I think it is high time to highlight and and improve upon Vesper civic works and show Britannia that there is much more to Vesper than piracy and villainy.
And where better to start than the Vesper Museum?
A recent visit to the museum left me quite disappointed. It seems that upkeep in the museum has been neglected for quite some time... or possibly that it was plundered during former Governor Bloodhand's tenure.
Either way, the only exhibit remaining is the necromancy display. While this may turn out to be ironically fitting given recent discoveries in town, it is hardly ideal, nor worthy of a great city.
And Vesper IS a great city!
So on Saturday, March 21st at 8PM ET, lumberjacks of Sosaria are invited to compete in a two-part contest to kick start a new initiative to bring more exhibits back to the Vesper Museum. Competitors should gather at the starting point just a bit northwest over the northernmost Vesper bridge.
The first part of the competition will be a straight lumberjacking contest. Entrants will have 30 minutes to collect as many boards and other lumberjacked materials as they can, and each material will have a points value assigned to it. Higher level materials will have a higher point value. There will be prizes for first, second, and first place in this category.
Between the first and second competitions will be a trivia mini-game to entertain players while counting is underway.
The second part of the competition will be a race! Competitors will have to transport all of their freshly gathered materials from the staging area all the way down to the museum. They'll be heavy, so they will have to be shuttled. There will be prizes for first, second, and third places in this category as well!
Prizes for both parts of the event will be given in the Vesper Museum after all materials have been donated to the museum. All participants will receive participant prizes as well.
A chat channel will be created for the event.
Rules:
1. Each lumberjack will be given a colored robe and container, and should use only the appropriate color. Each will also be given a rune to the staging area house. Do not linger in the recall area.
2. Lumberjacks may gather materials wherever they choose (any area, any facet), but all materials must be gathered during the event. No previously gathered or purchased materials.
3. The staging area house containing the supplies will be turned private for counting at the thirty minute mark. Nothing brought in afterward will count toward the player's points. Competitors are strongly encouraged to use the event chat channel to listen for time warnings.
4. The gathered materials must be manually shuttled across the city by each participant. No pack animals will be allowed for the race portion.
5. The door of the Vesper Museum will be the finish line for the race. The winners will be the first three competitors whose bags hit the floor inside the museum door.
Points for gathered boards will follow the Vesper Museum points structure:
Plain- 1 pt
Oak- 3 pts
Ash- 6
Yew- 9
Heartwood- 12
Bloodwood- 24
Frostwood- 48
Additionally, each non-board resource gathered (parasitic plant, luminescent fungi, brilliant amber, etc.) will be worth 20 points each.
All gathered boards must be donated to the museum. The museum does not accept non-board lumberjacked resources, so competitors may keep those. Each competitor will turn in their own materials so that the collection points collected will be their own as well.
Let's work together to improve the museum and bring some positive change to the city of Vesper! I look forward to seeing you all there, and good luck!
