Well I didn't do IDOCs so I didn't care. But with this rash of IDOCs we've seen I got interested. Did them for 2 days. When you see how it actually works in reality it's a very scripted hack filled system and it really kinda ticked me off. I got hosed so bad people are telling me what to do and what to get just so I could get close to being on a level playing field, lol. Had this guy I met, who's a nice guy. He said to me he really wanted these 2 specific items. I said I'll try and get the one for you first. He told me don't worry about it. He had another account there that was set to grab it the second the house dropped. That's the how the system currently works. So I'll be the boy scout and get nothing but the left overs? Somethings wrong here... all I'm saying. I sit somewhere for 4 or 5 hours to get crafted furniture and 2000 garlic while all the rares disappear in a split second after the house drops? Just sayin' it ain't right and nothing will be done about it in any meaningful way. That's just the way it is. I'm sure if they could do something about it they would. But as it is currently you get with the program or be the sap time after time every time.
Much of what you say in both this and your other post is true but to give the Devs their due they have at least made an effort this time. I have done and enjoyed Idocing for years and in ALL that time have had to contend with scripters. I have seen many mysterious and wonderful things in those years, many of which I do not pretend to understand. I remember well the days of the instant house (not necessarily scripted) when at fall a plot would instantly appear and all the goods of the house were piled beneath the house sign. Wasn't too bad then we all had a chance of grabbing something from the pile but even back then times were scripted. You soon learnt the identify the scripters and some of their tricks. Since then the situation has steadily deteriorated with regard to scripting, times were scripted , looting was scripted and then the 'young' started to appear in ever increasing numbers together with the 'bots' with names like Pink, Ponk, Punk, and Puke.
In all that time, I have never been aware of ANY serious attempt to curb scripting. This time the changes to idocs will stop nearly all script looting. The 'youngs' can still appear but if they cannot pick anything up, so whats the point?. Houses going from public to private will also level the playing field a little with regard to whether it is worth trying for the fall or not, only friends and co-owners will know whether the house is likely to be empty or not. All in all I am happy with this attempt to reduce scripting and give thanks to those involved for their efforts. It would have been nice if they had just made a single fall time in line with how it used to be, but I am grateful they have tried to reduce the abilities of the cheats.
Sure scripters will still be with us and doing their thing, its in the nature of things I have said before and will say again there is no need to be unhappy about scripters, like griefers they have little moral sense and few principles, be glad you are not one of them.
