Possible bug Publish 89, picking up piles of gold after champ dies

I dropped Neira this morning, and when I attempted to pick up the gold, I noticed a problem. I would pick up a pile and quickly attempt to pick up another, and it would say "you can't pick that up" and something to the effect of "you must wait to perform that action". If I picked up the piles slowly, all was well. When I rushed to do it, it would give the messages listed. I would walk off screen and once I returned I could pick up the pile again. As long as I took my time, all was well.

Also, if I grabbed for a pile that was out of my reach, it would not allow me to pick up another, unless I left the screen, or perhaps it was just allowing enough time to pass.

I'll try another spawn soon, and perhaps have a horde minion do the dirty work.

Anyone else experience the same?

its been that way for years, just dont try and do it too fast the game thinks you are scripting then

@Pirate Roberts I noticed the same thing. I had to run off screen to clear the character. then i was able to pick up stuff again.

That's another example of something that doesn't hinder scripters but hurts legitimate players: scripters can always add a longer delay.

I experienced this now and then before the new publish. When it happens, I can't pick anything up, necessitating that I log out and back in.

Something with this patch slowed EVERYTHING down. When you recall you can see your armor circling on the ground when you get where you're going too.

If I remember right the last time this happened we had a lot of insured/blessed armor dropping. Be safe with your stuff.

I've already reported my findings to Kyronix.

It may not hinder the scriptors but it does give anyone else in the area a chance to get some of the gold. I remember when the champs first came out a guy running a script could pick all the gold up and send it to the bank before any one could get a chance to pick any up. Now anyone who is there when the champ dies has a chance of getting some of the gold.

If someone's scripting, I can get gold myself by starting at the other end, and by hand I do it pretty well. But if there really is something intentional meant to hinder scripted looting, scripters only have to increase the delay, while legitimate players will get hamstrung by having to wait longer than they're used to. When I turn in BODs, though I have a good sense of the delay, half the time I'm still too eager to drop the next one.

maybe now that certain trial accounts cannot pick up loot from IDOC it is doing extra checks that slow it down for everyone everywhere

In the EC, things can get stuck in your hand, for lack of a better phrase. With the newer UI, there is a button you can add to your hotbars called "Drop what you are currently holding"

Well when champs first came out you had zero chance against a scriptor as they just ran around the area and cleaned it all up in around 60-90 seconds like a hover. That can no longer be done.

I don't know if there were scripts as early as the first champ spawn, but everyone was subject to the same delay. I haven't noticed anything different today, except what I thought was a game bug that makes it impossible for me to pick up or move anything else. But if there's been a change, years ago or now, the advantage scripters have is that there's no hesitation, and anytime there's a longer delay, they can fit it into the script. The game cannot tell if someone's merely fast in picking up gold or using a script.

UO will take 2 commads per second unless the delay is put on an indavidual command. The ability to interface with the games dll files has been there since day one. The current scripting software is the longest running but there are 3 others i can remember way, way back in the begning.

Add my name to that list, I use EC, was working just fine before the publish went live. Some kind of slowdown on moving anything has occured, there is a delay that was not there, even opening your bankbox now has a delay, but the opening of corpses and picking up of gold from champ spawns seems to be the worst.

just change the delay from picking up gold from 1 second to 2 seconds and you're good to go

I pick up gold piles by hand (or with a horde minion) and it's a pain in the ass. I would occasionally get "wait to perform another action" before, but it's all the time now. Why should I be punished because my natural ability to pick up gold (or other items) is faster than the in-game delay that was (unnecessarily) fixed?

here's something funny...i was on baja and recalled from trammel to fel. i SWEAR i saw a moonstone briefly appear in my backpack during the recall. i assumed it was just a laggy connection but after reading these posts i also think it has something to do with the latest publish. on a side note: i'm surprised to learn the moonstone code is still used.

what the heck is going on? i'm training a character on a 192 month old account. this char is at least 6 months old. every other time i try to use the Evaluate Intelligence skill i get a message 'you must wait a few moments to use another skill'. really? since when was a delay added to this skill?

This really needs to be resolved... it more like its thinking you are a young player in an IDOC zone when you arent a young player and your in a champ spawn. Any comment from the dev team?

I have been seeing the same thing since the publish with both the gold on the ground and items on the champ corpse. I quick logout/in and it goes away. I will try the drop everything button.

I noticed this at a champ the other day.... I can't pick up anything off the ground. The first pile I pick up fine like normal but after picking up one pile of gold I can no longer pick up ANYTHING.

Rather annoying to say the least. Guess I'm not meant to loot gold.
