F2P ideas..or not?

Ok this is thread soley created for ideas to be added to the Origin store not to gripe about how you dislike the ideas..I am aware that there is a % of people who extremely dislike the idea of FTP. With that said Mesanna herself has said she would be open to the idea "briefly" if someone has a link to that Dev Video or Meet and Greet please post it. I don't want a debate over FTP or not. Just ideas of things that can be added to the store "if" hypothetically it ever did go, and heck while we are at it, ideas for items to add now.

They could sell void pool reward points in a pack of 10K points for 5.99 and 20K points for 9.99 (same prices of the forged tools with 5 and 10 uses).
So, people like me who are starved for resources would buy those packs and hit Vela for resource maps and talismans.

I know I would buy plenty of those.

My thoughts on this:

- would prefer a new shard set up ( Classic shard !!) or remove character transfers from a slower shard and allow F2P there. The economy of the present game just seems so whacked these days with duped items and money. You would be amazed though at how many people would find it refreshing to actually have some meaningful farming going on- also helps create am environment for different player professions ie- thieves, pk's, miners, crafters, anti pk's, spawn guilds
-like just donation coins or currency - just redeem the items from the vendors yourself
-would prefer no gold or skill balls for sale. Need gold just sell some donation coins or buy a mystic char/advance char token.
-keep items in donation store strictly deco or mounts or clothing- nothing that can effect pvp
-update and control the regular uo store better

From time to time we see requests to "Give [template] some love!" What you're suggesting would give dupers a lot of love, and they'd redouble their efforts to create as much as they could.

Thanks for your as always valued input.. Hopefully by threads end we can we into an Econ 101 session. This would only benefit legit gold re-sellers. As a duper would much rather undercut the official site by marking down to .23¢ and make more that way. They prefer to stay under the radar

You have consistently shown a lack of comprehension of Econ 101's first day. Anyone who sells gold would benefit, and the majority of gold selling comes from dupers. Do you and any friends have your own motives for wanting to give benefit to, legitimize and further encourage their activities?

There's only so much these sites could undercut. They've earned a certain reputation to where I'd never trust them, nor would I want to support an industry based largely on duped gold. Therefore, legitimate players would be willing to pay a certain premium for laundered gold they wouldn't have problems with, whether or not they care about the original source.

You really should not jump into threads with the obvious error of conflating dupers with gold sellers. If you bothered to read what I had posted, I am clearly not talking about "sellers" benefiting. If EA were to start buying gold, whatever the source, dupers would benefit. If Paul will buy any and all mudpies that Peter makes, how many mudpies would Peter offer?

Even more clearly, you have no idea how much duping there is, and how much gold (no matter how legitimate the seller) originates with dupers. When a friend sold 1 billion to someone via Paypal, he most certainly didn't dupe the gold, but I'd say an easy 50% of the gold (which he got by selling high-end items) was originally duped.

Actually, you still haven't gotten past Econ 101 because you can't distinguish between two different terms.

FTP players can't own a house, subscribers can. That would seem to be the best option IMO. They can also add some stuff to the store and also give subscribers other benefits, but the house issue should be the main difference between the two. That way heaps of people will start playing FTP and many of them will end up subscribing so they can have a house. The housing system in UO is an incredibly strong selling point that no other game I've seen has done nearly as well, if at all. The bottom line though is that UO needs a FTP option as well as retaining the current subscription options. It wouldn't hurt to drop the sub price by a dollar or two tho.

Though items may still be duped, at least there won't be as much inflation, and if the rate of item duping is faster than the increase in total gold, then prices will fall. Someone won't, for example, buy an item for 100 million today, then get 300 million in a year's time because there's so much more gold floating around. It's because there's been so much duping that prices can be bid so high for single items.

As I clearly said, it's an example of prices rising. Remember when a Conjurer's Trinket could be bought for 1 million, PoF for 40K, or Forged Metal Tools for 2 million per charge? But now there's so much gold floating around that even legitimate players must keep bidding higher in order to compete.

Though the value of an item (besides actual supply and demand) means one could buy it today and sell it later at an inflated price, inflation comes down on those who save in the currency. I don't want to have to put gold in Slithers or other high-value items, trusting that their value won't fall through the floor if a new item is introduced.

Kinda I dunno... malicious, but lotto chests.

Ultrarare, Rare, Uncommon, Common tiers. You get 1 special item drop and up to 3 regular item rolls. Specials would be deco, mounts, dyes, titles, artifacts, stuff like that, with each tier having unique special items, around 10 each. Non special would be regular loot rolls, scrolls, resources, whatever... all scaled to tier level.

1.99 for 1, 4.99 for 5, 7.99 for 10. Or just simple 10 for 10. People would buy them I guarantee.

Items make more money, but gold is safer. They can mass remove items, but once a check is cashes it's just like any other gold.
