I am looking forward to getting more details about the following things that the dev team said at the meet and greet:
- Mesanna said, "The Account management is being redone as we speak by us. The last meeting we had on this I requested the ability for you guys to be able to unlink accounts and give them to other players since I get that request alot." I have some concerns about whether redoing the account management system and making it possible to unlink accounts will increase the incidence of account hacking. Seems like we have not really heard any reports about it happening since UO was added to the current account management system. I hope we will also not need to come up with more e-mail addresses if the revamped system ends up disaggregating the accounts we currently have linked together and we must have a unique e-mail address associated with each UO account. Also, if account transfers are going to officially be available again, I wonder if that will mean a return of the program where you could pay to have an account transferred to another player free of any bad marks it might have had and with the assurance that the original owner wouldn't be able to easily re-claim the account.
- Someone asked about plans to attract new players to the game and Mesanna said that there are such plans "with the coming of Steam and adding a new player experience that will benefit new and returning players," but it will be "later this year." I'm looking forward to reading about the team's plans for a new player experience. Really keeping my fingers crossed on that one! I am concerned about it ending up being something like the little tutorial you get in the EC client when you use it to make a new character. That tutorial just doesn't go far enough and it's also buggy in some places (e.g., trying to use the rune to return to challenge the Dark Knight). Also, if what is being added is some kind of "guided tour" or quest, I hope it isn't going to only be available in the EC and isn't something you only have the chance to do once per character. I am hoping it turns out to be more along the lines of new quests and NPCs added to New Haven and more robust information available through the official website.
