Training

Hi,

I play on and off but haven't trained up a new character from scratch in a long time. I recently started a new shard and am enjoying having a fresh start. The only thing is though; my main beginner dungeon for melee was despise, but since they changed the dungeon I'm not really sure what's good to train with.
Any Suggestions would be appreciated, also if this is already somewhere else apologies, I can never find anything on stratics.

Depends a lot on your skill level, which skill and what equipment you have available. But general rule of thumb is buy it to 40 in New Haven (most skills), then take the accelerated skill gains quest to 50. From there you can either train on forest animals until 70-80, or use jewelery and go straight to golems.

If you actually wanted to fight low end monsters to train I'd say do Fel Champ Spawns, depending on where you do them you'll have the extra drops of Scrolls Of Transcendence, 10th Anniversary items, low level power scrolls. Again, what you have access to determines how useful any of that stuff is but at the worst you can turn it in for Clean Up Brit points. Especially good if you can't level the spawn as it'll keep reverting and overloading it with low end monsters, I'd say throw on Wraith Form and a Whirlwind weapon and you should see many gains.

If you're completely anti Fel, maybe Ilshenar Champ Spawns, though then you have to put up with Parragons.

Failing any of that... there's also quite a lot of places with low level Undead, like Underworld, between levels at Covetous, Graveyards, Tram City Of Dead afaik still spawns normally. Ice Dungeon has Ratmen spawns and Arctic Ogre Lords once you progress (which don't seem to have been buffed any). I think Sanctuary also has a lot of low level (but annoying) spawn, and an underground area with Ratmen. Plus swamps everywhere.

You could also kill Shadow Wisps, in Ilshenar Spirituality Oaks Champion Spawn as there's a lot of people making Bone Armor these days. Think Prism also has those in a safe area, plus a mass of weak snakes in a hole, before you enter the main place.

If you're starting out on a new shard, and you're not getting a next egg either by xfering money or getting some from a friend, then maybe one thing to look into is what the commodity vendors in Maginicia are buying.

FOr instance, if you take the advice from Lord GOD above (ok, that felt strange to type) and you look at doing some champs spawns and just toiling along on the first few levels, you could collect many many thousands of spined leather if you just stay on the first levels of the Destard spawn.

On my shard, I think there's a vendor buying spined hides for a good amount, and you'll likely need that money later if you're going to train up an imbuer etc.

Good point Tuan I'd add, if you're starting somewhere with nothing at all, I'd also suggest raising Str asap and getting access to Twisted Weald, a lot of people do Swoops and don't bother with the gold and most of the mediocre loot that gets left will be more than enough for a new character.

If you are training a melee fighter or an archer, you can get to 50 at Haven with the quests, then go kill Ettins near the Haven mine until you hit around 70.
Then I'd suggest moving to golden elementals in Castle Blackthorn up to 90~95. Then rooting corpses and brigands at Blackthorn still to hit 110 or so.
Then move to Exodus Minions to hit 120 down at Castle Blackthorn still. Try to get a training suit with luck to maximize your chance for Minax drops while training.
