Possible for EC macros in Classic client?

Ive always wondered why the advantages of enhanced client havent been passed down to the classic client.

I get that certain things wouldnt be exactly the same but the idea of them would be great.

The biggest macro id love to see in 2d is pot chugging. I dont want to have to DL another program just to play the game (UOassist). The top Reason i pvp in EC is for the pathfinding and the pot chugging.

Has this been answered before?

Any thoughts?

Actually it was made to sort the spaghetti of code string that UO was becoming the 2d client and to make something they could add things too more easily and could update and do more with.

The old 2d client really is a dinosaur sadly and while I know many folk won't give it up... it's dragging the rest of us down and holding us back from improvements that perhaps could have brought us new players. But ... anyway I don't want to turn this into a EC vs 2d debate so I'll just leave it at that.

But sadly there are many things that the EC has that they can't put in the old 2d client .... at least not without breaking 100 more things than they add.

do you know why exactly pots couldnt be made as a cc macro? im not computer wiz but it doesnt seem that complicated. like "bandage self" is a macro. isnt that the same as "heal pot self" "stam pot self" because its just another stack of items.

i do try to play EC for the features in pvp, but honestly it just doesnt have the right feel and isnt enjoyable so i always go back.

I can't go back. Even when the EC is behaving horribly .... I'd rather just not play UO at all then go back to 2d. I just can't do it.

I would like to see 2d do some of the thing EC does but ive asked messana if 2d will get some love in this area. didn't get positive answer. 2d wont be able to compete with the EC, im not saying 2d users are screwed lol. ive also heard things about pincoUI, some of the things I didnt think we could do. wow

It clearly IS possible to add some of the functionality because UOAssist.

And both clients are completely 2d.

UOAssist is legal. Been for almost as long as UO has been active. Just how motivated would you be as the UOAssist codemage? Working for donations and no help from the game you improved. Took another client before they wised up and hired one those dedicated types.

Early days of UO they treated it as some fad game. So lets see how far this moneyball will go and how big. Punnish 3rd party users? Naw the game wont last another 2 years, so lets stuff or pockets. Three years later they refuse to eat crow as the game still was growing with way to many players using those 3rd party programs growing. That money ball, snowballed out of control, injected with even more TOS breakers. UO nosedived when the honest players matched the headcount of the scripting duper hacks. They never made an attempt to clean up the game. Just some burning home smoke blowing up the arse and a little scare about using some outside help to flag the smoke scented turds that didn't slow their roll. And here we are now.

Think of the two clients code as a means of travel. And everyone is always going to a party. EC is a moped with bad gas, bent rims and loose stearing. CC is ice skates. Both will get you to the party somehow. Just the ice skaters keep thinking there will be another sleet storm to cover the world in ice again. Those that make the ice skates hate the effort in killing baby seals for leather to keep some hard headed types tootsies warm. Just strapping wheels and motor to ice skates is only good for making neat YouTube videos. When it comes to working on the two clients. CC takes the wind out of the sails of USS BestDayAtWork. CC is still around for the same reason the TOS is not enforced. Keeps the lights on at some EA's CEO's mansion.

CC is dead weight. Does nothing for the the limited time and workers. As long as the scripter accounts are paying ........ what the hey.

CC looks better to many of us hold-outs. Granted I've tried to adapt to the EC, but I just can't get over the bad attempt made in upgrading UO's graphics.

There is a reason outside of cost that people play the free shards...most of them have been built on the 2d platform and prefer to play the game with that look. I have to say, as a thief, I miss a lot of the old thief graphic stories that were once told. I just can't imagine them being as good in EC graphic format, the content may be the same, but the imagry is awful (or at least a lot of us feel that way...la

yeah honestly its the graphics for me. if EC had CC graphics i would play it exclusively. its a shame they couldnt have made 1 client with same classic graphics but updated UI.

plus i like to collect rares and stuff, and most those just look bad in EC too :/

Yeah graphics is the problem for me as well @Smoot ... I love all the functionality of EC but i cant stand the way it looks. I wish @Pinco or someone else would build the EC client but make it look like CC.

they just have to add an option use CC sprites for the creatures and CC can go to the trash

If the EC had been around years ago and developed by a third party it would have been deemed illegal and banned.

Third party programs are either deemed illegal or crippled (like UOAssist) but this should be changed since the EC can now do (or with a little programming) anything you want to macro.

Not sure why we couldn't use CC graphics with the EC client. What am I missing here? This game would really suck for me if I were forced to go EC. I think I'd play it elsewhere. Although I really don't see either client going anywhere anyway, that would be a BIG deal lol.

I agree about using CC mobiles..... however.... I think they ought to steal some of the devs from SIM's and give us more SIM's like sprites for us and NPC's... THEN I would love the game over the top..... they also need to finish the High Res updates and maybe that will turn the rest of you off the 2d and onto the EC.

Agreed.. since I play on a new HD LED TV.... on full 46" lovely color.... which by the way I was playing last night and my #2 Bonus Girl came in and says "Mom... what are you playing? Is that UO?" And I was like.. "Yeah" and she says.... "Oh wow... that looks nice." I though.. it always looks this way???? And then I remembered I got this new TV and Holy Smokes does it look NICE now... Heck almost anything looks good on this TV. So I was like "Well it's probably because this TV is awesome... the game always was awesome... but it just looked crappy on the old TV. But the new one makes it really look cool, which it always was... but now just you can see that it is."

So perhaps many of you who've tried playing the EC ..... don't like the way it looks.... because the equipment your using to look at it... isn't configured right or stinks. I still wish I could convince some of them to play. But ... doubt that would happen. I have had a bunch of bonus kids and only one of my sons friends has EVER played UO. He recently told me he would give me his account as he's not going to play UO. He made the mistake years ago of doing the free shard thing.... and he said after playing God in UO for awhile... he just can't return to it. As for all the others... they prefer shooter games... or single player things or they don't have money ... so play only f2p stuff.

I keep trying though. Sadly UO is a very complex game... many folk don't want to learn it, don't think they can learn it, or haven't got the time to do it properly so they try it and get instantly frustrated and quit.... hating UO forever. My brother played back in the beginning... he hates UO. Won't give it a second chance at all. Sadly I think this happened a lot as well... folk tried it back in the day... didn't know anyone or have friends to help them... wound up getting PK'd constantly and got really angry with the game and have NEVER tried it again.

But yes a proper monitor and vid card do wonders for the game.
