Idea for spellweaving

Its getting harder and harder to get a focus, this is on atlantic during prime time, cant imagine whats it like on low pop servers, i imagine spell weavers dont even exist on those servers, like right now im standing at WBB spamming for a focus, have been for 10 minutes now and not a single response. So how about instead of making them last 9 hours making them last 24 hours? so we only have to go threw this extremly pain stacking task once a day instead of twice.

I would be happy if they have an option of using a support skill and dedicating 120 skill points toward a level 6 focus or getting the current focus with other weavers at the arcane circle. I would use mediation as the support skill.

I thought I've read that some temporarily put spellweaving on a soulstone, invite people with 0 spellweaving skill for the focus (because it's based on the difference in skill and not absolute skill?), then reclaim the points.

The arcane focus thing has outlived its relevance by many years, if it ever really had any relevance to begin with.

Look, a weaver + focus is either overpowered or not. How much nuisance it took to get the focus doesn't actually affect balance at all once they're in the field. I mean, if it were overpowered and blowing up bosses and/or PVP opponents, nobody would accept "But getting a focus is a lot of work!" as a justification for being blown up would they? Of course they wouldn't.

So if this requirement is adding nusiance but not actually DOING anything balance-wise, why should it exist?

I always pause what I'm doing and jump on my mystic to help out with a focus whenever I can, and it feels nice to help out and get a thank you - but I have to agree it's really pretty pointless. I've heard this request in a half dozen or so threads now, though, and never heard from any developers that anybody is considering a change. Is this a question that's been asked in one of those town hall meetings with the developers? What's up, designers? Time for a change or not?

A fairly simple (structure wise, not necessarily coding-wise) change would be to just make the focus level be based off fame. Similar to Chiv etc being based off karma. Means there are still different levels of focus and you occasionally have to work it back up (on death or sacrifice) to sustain it.

I usually have to resort to: 4 trial accounts with 4 human characters, stone off weaving, get focus, stone sw back on. :(

Not too long ago the higher ups were saying they were going to make the focus be an in game timer and not a real world timer in a way to help weavers out some. Did they drop that idea?

I also agree with the weavers that could be hired.. but I have always said there should be 3 of them and they should be in Heartwood only.

While we're at it, why the hell does the Elves Only property still exist? What does it add to the game?

No the problem started when they thought up the restriction. They should of tagged types of gear as "Human Only." This would of really driven down theese cookie cutter suits. Then they shot themselves in the foot with the alteration ability. All the easy to do content and short events that could of came about to put SOME equally balanced gear in other races hands. There is plenty of current content in the game that already exsist. There is no reason to think new and squeeky fresh content will really justify all the work. Reforge & Refinements come to mind with a smidge of Imbuing. All the fun they could of had rotating in and out new ingredients and mods for Imbuing.

A good gold sink ideal brought up before. If I remember correctly. Brit and crystal dungeon circles are the only place that a 6 can be earned with 5 weavers. With all the day long bank sitting that goes on. Why don't players bank sit at Brit hidden? If they just would come out and say they honestly don't care about the AFKing and certain script farming. I might actually enjoy the game. Long live the players that sell electronics and DVDs out of the back of a van while they're playing UO.

Or a great use for those virtues they have yet to use.

On Origin, I can get a six, skill on, almost anytime I want just by using the alliance chat feature.

Don't change spellweaving please, it's the only thing I have left that hasn't been mutilated by the devs!
As it is, it sucks. I have it on my mystic mage for the added SDI Arcane Empowerment/Reaper Form give me with a max focus, but a lot of the time, I don't even use that/get a focus. I reach 105 SDI naturally just through items, and 120 Eval/Focus. 55 SDI on top of it is just overkill. That's just pure SDI with the Scrapper's Compendium, btw; if I use the corresponding Slayer instead (which puts me between 135-145 SDI maximum), my damage with every Flamestrike is greater than that of a sampire or thrower.

If the focus switched to an ingame timer (instead of real world), or we had another way to get it, I'd use it more often.

Adding "Human Only" gear would just make things worse for no reason. Like it's perfectly sensible for Gargoyles to have their own gear, since they have different graphics and even equip to different bodyparts, but why the two races with identical bodies?

Imagine that ML came out back in 2005 or whatever with no "Elves Only" property. Would anyone have ever missed it? Would anyone have ever gone to the forum and posted "Hey I have a great idea, let's ban humans from wearing ML gear for some reason!" and been taken seriously?

It, along with this ridiculous spellweaving requirement to spam chat for half an hour before playing, serves ZERO purpose and should have been gone years ago.

While they are at that they could increase the time of the luck statue to match. Or at least give it a more useful 6 hours... rather than 1.

Agreed, that 1 hr luck on Siege is more like 30 minutes after you travel from place to place.

On Europa i never fail to get level 6 focus at any time.
Here are some tips:
1 join a guild with fellow weavers.
2 Do the spell focus in fel so you don't disclude red players
3 Have 100 spellweaving and not 120 so you don't disclude players with less than 100 spellweaving.

I play on Sonoma, and I am happy to say that most times I can get a focus by asking in general chat. Sonoma is a lower populated shard, but we are (for the most part) a fairly close knit group, willing to help out when needed. LONG LIVE SONOMA!

I haven't had a focus gem in my bag in months. I don't even bother asking in chat, because I play early morning(7:30 am central to about 10 am) and no one is usually on that can focus with my 120 weaver.
