Loot - surprised again

Well, I thought I'd do the Renowned Devourer daemon spawn again tonight, only this time I'd pay attention to everything I killed to check the new loot. The new loot turned out to be all crap, nothing at all of any value. But then I checked the Renowned Devourer and saw this- a sort of a saving the best for last scenario.
EDIT: BTW, with all the new combos now, do people still build suits around the animated legs?

Some still use the animated legs, but they have become much harder to incorporate into a suit lately. It takes more effort than it's worth for an extra 10% SSI in my opinion. They still sell for around 40 million on Atlantic though.

I think the tinker legs, has become better with publish 86.
Combined with the new global loot, and 10 SSI stuff in mind, it does open for some intresting builds.
Fx.. 30 SSI = ring+brac+leg..
Or even
35 SSI = ring+brac+leg+cloak.
This will give u a ton of options no ?

These days I don't rate the tinker legs as easy to find SSI jewels to use instead and you can craft nicer legs these days with reforging. The good thing about them is they still sell pretty well like Captn says above. 40m +

Man... How I tried to get those legs when those spawns first came out. Killed at least a hundred of those dudes, and nada.

i always thought tinker legs were crap. i attempted to build a suit around them when 10 ssi jewels were still expensive but abandoned the idea quickly. dont need the di anymore unless its 1 handed weapon, no lmc, no stam, overall low mods. horrible option. even back when ssi stuff was expensive i opted for 10ssi jewels with no hci (so they were cheaper) and made up for it with woodland 10 hci pieces.

Id vendor them. someone will buy for decent price.

The only scenario i can see them being useful in is if you want 30 swing speed on suit to maximize mana leech on ranged. how hard this is to reforge for archey tho i dont think thats likely. its much easier to reforge overcapp mana leech throwing weapons, i use berserkers breastplate 30 ssi on suit setups for several pvm low stam (150) throwers with overcapped mana leech.

Much like Uvtha I tried and tried to get a pair... killed and killed and killed things... never got any drop worth anything .... save getting the medusa floor tile once. First Scalis I helped kill got the 1 tile soul forge... I've gotten that 2 times. But haven't gotten anything but a sash from Corgul... or that silly book no one wants.

I did Doom for years without ever getting a drop. First drop I got was a stinking Dragon Lance. Utterly useless item. One time while doing Travisty I actually got a crimmy.... I kept trying to figure out why I got some piece of cloth... that's how often I get good things. We must have killed 200 Travisties by then. Never got the mark either. Never gotten anything but the crystal from doing the Shimmering.

I still believe that when your account is created you are given some sort of luck code... some get a normal base value... we'll say zero... others are given a + number you know the ones I'm talking about the lucky S.O.B.'s who get drops ALL the time... Everytime they go out they get something... they are the ones with castles and keeps stuffed with every drop in the game 10 fold. Then there are folk like me who have - balance... I swear my account started with -2000 luck.... so if I wear a luck suit with 2100 luck I have 100 luck. That's pretty much how I feel.

Try and play with the idea of using 100% hit life leech weapons, and not using necro for vamp form.

thats the way to go. especially when theres no slayer. i made a suit specifically for blackthorns captains like this and it rocks. sometimes dont even need the healing, but its there for when somethings hitting you for like 50 points a hit and the life leech doesnt cut it.

Been running curse weap instead of vamp for a while now since i figured out i could cast protection without magery skill vamp+curse weap+life leech= nearly 100 percent life leech. No need for armor ignore at that point

Been using one with one of my dexxers. Now that I got some decent ssi 10 jewels with some mods I wanted and with space to imbue at least part of the rest of the mods I need, it will be put aside.
Clockwork legs are a much better option (a pity that they only have 450 imbuing weight, 50 points more would have made them very awesome), imo.

Seriously, I hear good things about the 100 percent life weapons setup but haven't studied how to make the suits to make it work.

So, to maybe wrap up this thread on the Animated Legs of the Insane Tinker, I put em up for sale for 40M in general chat on Atlantic and sold em immediately - and used the money to buy a character some mace and shield glasses and a crimson cincture.

Well... for a long time I did not go to Doom since I never felt prepared for this dungeon reading the forums. Then, I became brave one day, took may mage, I got the golden skull with my tamer (horrible thing with white wyrm and nighty and no disco), I rang the bell, was teleportet and arrived in a complete mess with things all around and people dying. There was the DF up, and I casted Ebolt after Ebolt on him, not knowing about looting rights; it died, and in the heat I nearly overlooked the small massage that popped up... Was still busy with ressing people, when I saw that white thing in my backpack, and it was the Hat of the Magi, with my first DF on my first visit to Doom! My son still tells that story of his father yelling around "Got an arti, the Hat!, the Hat!" ... So with your theorie, I must be one of those +-guys, but I swear, I used all my luck up that time
