Small ship lost at sea

First off, in all my years of playing, I've never used boats or ships and know nothing about them, so call me a noob here.
That changed with the merchant quests, and now I need some advice.
I got a small ship to sail from Vespers to New Magincia on a merchant quest and got killed when I had almost reached the island I made two more mistakes besides dying:
1. Instead of piloting the boat to shore with my ghost (forgot you could do that), I hit help/stuck and got teleported off the boat to land.
2. I bought a new ship deed and trashed both keys to my old ship, thinking that would avoid confusion with my new keys when I used the new deed (I didn't realize I could use the old ship keys to teleport back to the boat).
I tried to put the new ship in the water and got the message that I couldn't because I already had a ship deployed.
Now what?
Do I need to I buy the High Seas expansion (I never got it) so I can use a rowboat to try to salvage my ship that's still in the water? How long will the ship stay there?
Is there a way to make the ship in the water sink or something so I can just forget about it and deploy the new ship? Will it go away by itself eventually?
Thanks

Noob...

I found this in the Ship Guide:

Harbormaster
Harbormasters have two options on their context menu

  • Ship Recall Rune – for a fee of 100gp you will be provided with a new rune for your ship if you have misplaced the original
  • Abandon Ship – Abandoning your ship will cause the ship to decay within 5 minutes if there are no players on the ship.
  • Once your ship has decayed discard or overmark any runes associated with it, you will then be able to place a new ship.

I hope it works.

Excellent advice! I missed that too, lol. :)
EDIT: Yep, it worked.
