Just can't use the gate.
Nice ... so basicly you have to do the whole trade deal in Fel for Slims rare rewards. Make it mostly senseless to get the note with his offer slipped into you backpack when your doing deals in trammel.

@Kyronix hey man can you tell us a bit more about the rares in the traders quests. Particularly from slim?
Is there a percentage of a chance to.get these?
Do you have deliver so many items before its possible. I.e. im currently at 5 items per trade quest. Does it tske more than this?

I got to Magnate and it's still 5 liners. If I jump a gate for not wanting to get in a boat, no rares. For me Guild plaques and books. SO it has to be the same on Slim. If I jump a gate, I still get pinks just no rares. As far as percentages, if I run from Minoc to Jhelom and ride a boat across the harbor there, 1/2 the time I'll get a rare. But I could do 3 from Minoc to Vesper in that time. Minoc to Glow / Minoc to New Mag, I hop the gate and hope for the pink.
Tier 5 is the max. There's nothing above it (currently).

Any time you turn in a trade order to slim, regardless of the size, you have a chance at the rares.

I have thus far turned in 250 orders to slim the fence. My char is detested in every city and yet, have received no rares from slim the fence.
I have received many, many ,pinks. (on a different note, would be nice if you could add these pinks to a transcendence book from your back pack or bank box...just saying !!))
The random magic item is mostly crap (would be great if it was some of the new generated loot, would at least be worth a keeper but nope, all trash!!)

Now a friend of mine, completed 25 trades to slim and received the item rare "artwork from Blackthorn's Castle" .........*jealousy kicks in*...

I pulled a the forged artwork and slims little black book so far.
always start the quest in fel.
I'm curious if the distance matters for slim.

Oh, is that just the character weight limit? I assumed it was the capped box weight looking at the picture which had caused the issue.
Im a newbie here and i don't found that slim the fencer in feluca yet but, in the tramel trader's quest that i don't die in the ship trip i don't get any rare at the time. But... i get a tamming pink scroll 1.0 now finally i can finish my tammer in a fast way hahahahah!

Do you need to kill the ambushers for getting rares from slim or do you just have to deliver stuff whilst running away from them?

Do the trade requests get bigger and bigger or something? i only did like 10 so far lol... i get ADD and get sick of it after a few.
1-40 Orders = 1 line item
41-60 Orders = 2 line items
61-80 Orders = 3 line items
81-100 Orders = 4 line items
101+ Orders = 5 line items (these CAN exceed a character's capacity to carry)
@Kyronix Might want to bump the weight reduction of the containers to 75%

Weight? That's not the issue when you get further along. And you can not put the crate on a pack animal. The real issue comes when you have 5 lines of items. It's very rare but you CAN roll 5 not stackable 20 item lines. So do the math. 5x20+1 leaves you with carrying 24 in the pack. Who only carries 24 items in their pack? And no, putting them in the crate does not reduce the number or items you are carrying. Believe me, I had 16 plate legs sitting on the ground and was trying to figure out WTF to do.

Most of my characters carry 20 or fewer items in their pack. My warrior that I've been doing these quests with only has 13 on her currently. If I had her extra weapons she'd still only be at about 17 items...
I guess I'm just a 'pack rat'.
Curious, are you doing Fel or Tram?Wonder if I get a bonus for the extra mileage...

Is there any benefit to doing the 4 or 5 line items as opposed to the 1 or 2?

Sweet! I'm very curious about Mr. Slim shady and thinking about doing it on a diff char, because of the diff rewards. I don't usually do Fel though. Unless it's Siege, of course!
Probably, but @Kyronix hasn't said that the higher tier orders mean better chances at rewards...yet.
Just plopping this in here, although it really has nothing to do with Slim, but just so it gets documented somewhere:
If you start doing the quests with a character that has never had any city loyalty before and always start the quests from the same city, so far it looks like your status with that starting city will change as follows:
1 Delivery - Unknown
2 Deliveries - Commended
8 Deliveries - Respected
40 Deliveries - Adored
I've been doing the quests on several shards and several characters (all in Trammel), and the results have been the same regardless of whether character runs/sails the whole way or uses the moongates. But the most quests I've done so far with any character is just 40, so I've got a long ways to go to see how loyalty level changes. Will update this post as I go along. Also, karma gain seems to be staying very consistent at 250 per trip, but still just doing 1-line deliveries, so don't know if that will also change with more lines in a delivery. May max out karma before then (not sure when/if that happens).
Edited to add: Well, at 41 deliveries you start getting 2-line orders! So far, it looks like karma gain will stay at 250 each order with 2-liners. Will modify this if I find out that is not true. And if it isn't documented elsewhere, the amount going to the city treasury if you're using moongates jumps from 10k to 20k when you start getting 2-line orders. I'm assuming it will bump up again when the number of lines in the order increases yet again. Don't know what the max amount is when number of lines increases and you're not using moongates. The highest I've seen not using moongates and with 1-line orders is 83,000 gold to the city where you pick up the order.
Second addition: It looks like delivering quests TO a city counts the same for loyalty as taking quests FROM a city. So, once you've delivered two times TO one city (assuming you started at rock bottom, "Unknown"), you would be Commended in that city; after 8 deliveries, you are "respected" in that city, and presumably it will continue the same as noted above.
Third addition: It looks like the most karma you can have is 32,000.

With most of the characters I'm doing, I'm just starting them always from the same city. However, I do have one character where I'm just doing a return trip from wherever the last order took her, so she's all over the place and loyalty's not growing particularly fast in any one city. Will be interesting to see how long it takes her to achieve higher levels of loyalty and where as time goes on. LOL
Thanks Tina, hm, I think I will stick with my first city, 'bout time I become loyal to one. I've decided not to use moongates in my quest, and 30 k was given to the city I took quest from. Of course, this is just my very first quest. Curious to see how high it goes.
