New Loot Discussion : Same old story?

Agree, I don't see a problem with Exodus giving great loot. I've never heard of anyone soloing it and collecting keys means you can only do so many runs.

...But yeah I don't think it's possible. And the keys take quite a bit of time to collect anyway.

This and it's really about time that hard stuff has move than the drop. Should this give great stuff everytime, no but it should have a decent chance if the effort is worth it.

Given what's available already, the existing options we have, and given the fact that crafters can craft things which are customized to our individual needs, I'm not really sure what we could get that'd be game-breaking.

Even the best stuff I've seen so far doesn't strike me as potentially game-breaking the way, say, a cleverly-used runic-made halbred of vanquishing could be early in the days of runic hammers. (And if you never went grey and only used it in Fel dungeons, losing it to being looted wasn't a significant risk.)

I'm not really sure what we could get that'd be game-breaking....And, honestly, that strikes me as a good thing.

We begged for imbuing, and they gave it to us - but imagine if it went away and we had to rely only on loot again - now that would make hunting interesting

No pics for Exodus loot needed. Almost every piece is a greater, major or legendary and most of them are brittle, alot with 255 dura. For caster templates heavenly stuff. But one thing is true: significantly less good parts for warriors.

And of MY 21 completed chars I do have 3 warriors. 18 chars are casters. I really cannot think of any occasion I dust these boring warriors off and do something intelligent with them. Only funny one is the mystic-thrower, and thats because he has mysticism. I think I will delete the other two warriors and sell the stuff for creating 2 new casters. I really cant find a single reason why anbody should play warriors. Maybe PVP, but - hehe - ya know... Who cares for PVP

I am surprised, because I thought that Warriors (dexers like Sampires and their variations) were the best template for PvM, the ones who could stand up toe to toe with the toughest Bosses around ....

It is not that so any longer ??

That would be a new discussion. But if you ask me, for almost all places in UO there are better templates than warrior templates. Maybe there are some quite good sammy-spots. But most of the time, combinations of Mysticism+Something works easier and cheaper, if you ask me:

Stealth-Mysticism+Magery for farming keys
Stealth-Mysticism+Spellweaving for some bosses

Magery+Necromancy+Spellweaving for bosses like peerless and champs
Mysticism+Magery+Spellweaving for other bosses and champs

And so on..

Ah, and not to forget bards:

Provocation+Mysticism+Stealth for Cove 3
Provocation+Mysticism+Magery for Champs

Discordance+Mysticism+Magery or
Discordance+Mysticism+Spellweaving for bosses/peerless

And so on. Endless opportunities...

Wonderful template is and all mage-temp: Mysticism+Magery+Necro+Spellweaving. Expensive, but possible. Extremely versatile in wraith-form with high SDI while having a Colossus out there.

Mysticism is the most important spellcasting-school. 21 chars, and 15 of them have mysticism, hehe

I know, you can play the game completely different. But not so relaxed ;-)

Preference I guess. Some people like the image of a knight with a sword and a shield going up against dragons etc. They might not be ideal for all scenarios, but they are good for most.

I'm all for the new loot system. Nice to see not everything in game has to be a grind. i.e. killing mud elementals for 10 straight hours until your eyes bleed.

My warrior isn't relaxed at all. I'm always a hit or two away from ghostville.

Another reason I play a warrior now (I only have one character) was because I was a tamer for years, and it was too boring.

I would try mystic, but I'll never afford a scroll, and it's kinda needed.

Heh. This is true, but I'm gonna post this for the hell of it. It's also from Exodus, like the others I've posted. I have only ONE problem with it - the LRC is too low:



FWIW, I was wearing 740 Luck (Blackthorn Hooded Robe, Compassion's Eye, and Luck statue giving me 350) when I got this, not that luck really matters for Exodus. Next time I go down there I'm gonna take my tamer instead of my mystic and see what 2570 luck can give me.

Looted in Fel/Hyloth on Searing Gargoyle using 2400 luck suit + 1000 fel luck. Ev's ... This is unenhanced and can have added resist through leather enhancing.

Aye! There is TONS of this stuff out now... Mostly brittle, but who cares. Some weeks ago I paid 50 mil for a nice pair of gargish plate leggings - now you can find such items in virtually every peerless (Exodus! Medusa!).... These are not enhanced:

















On most castrs these brittle parts will last forever. And there are enough clean lessers, greaters and majors. So, the market will be dead. However, true clean legendaries are still rare. And - of course - warrior parts, havent found anything comparable for warriors.

Ive pulled like 30 artifacts in limited hunting, but all but maybe one were just garbage I unraveled. I'm not even really looking at the stats on stuff that isnt artifact anymore...
