Is your EC vendor not selling much?

A little pet peeve of mine. There's already a thread with EC and CC client users ragging on each other so let's not get into that please. But it seems with the EC you can stretch your vendor backpack I assume? Well if you do that we don't see a stretched out back pack with the CC. All we see if a bunch of stuff stuck in the corner. So I for one don't bother buying anything there. Not worth the hassle trying to find what I want stuck in the corner under everything else. I see this way to often so I suppose there's some folks that aren't aware of this. Hope this helps someone :)

Actually, I don't think we know yet how well vendors outside of Luna are faring anyway, regardless of which clients are being used. It would be nice to hear how well the new system is working for people.

My vendor was out in the south Trinsic jungle and has done very very well. I'm currently sold out. I am moving my vendors to a new place outside the Luna gate right now though just to see what happens. I have one account with no house so I experiment with him to see how I like different locations. But without vendor search I doubt anyone would have ever found me. Vendor search to me is one of the most awesome things ever.

Good to know. That's what I hoped would happen.

Never really did vendors..... still don't. 15 years of playing I have two vendors standing at my Theatre... 90% of the time they remain empty.

I will say this much about the problem with those who stock their vendors in the EC client.....
You loose sales big time kiddies.
If i cant see the 10 packs you stacked in ther because the client has superimposed them on top of one another and picking them out of the dimly lit pack is hell. I know you love your ec client but if you dont fix this bag issue I cant spend my millions when I shop your vendors.
This is not a raz or a he said she said issue but one of vision.
If I cant see your goodies i cant buy them...period.

Ya, same for me. Almost seems sort of pointless to get a vendor now in the Luna Vendor mall, especially since a lot of the house owners will charge a rather steep price to rent a vendor. Its no more convenient than the little map that pops out with Vendor search.

Ya, there was a vendor I was going to buy some imbuing ingredients off, except it was all stacked in a corner and I couldn't do anything to buy it. Fortunately I do not see this happen that often though.

I always switch to legacy containers for vendor stocking. My high horse has to wait at home for those couple of minutes

Not a bad point , but wording would be key. To make this a nicer (non EC bashing) may I suggest - "A suggestion to vendor owners who are using the EC client to help uncover the items for CC users"

If you had worded it this way, in no way could you post be even slightly construed as an attack on the EC.

Just saying, I too am tiered of EC / CC fights but I will jump in, in a heartbeat if they are, as another thread is clearly spiraled into.

I am filling my vendor with CC but am hardly selling anything :(
Check your prices and what you are selling vs your shard. Also, don't rely on the search system to do your advertising for you. If you would like more personal help with running a successful shop, feel free to contact me on ICQ 465-972-004. I have some experience running vendors.

When I see everything on a vendor stacked in bottom of pack on top of everything else, I just move along.

And also, when I see a beautifully designed vendor, I'll buy something I don't even need just because of the effort the person has put into the design.

Since the in game vendor search was implemented my vendor sales outside of Luna have increased significantly. I don't advertise vendors either. I simply put vendors as decoration into the buildings I decorate.

Depending on how badly I need the item, I sometimes switch to EC to buy it, but most of the time I just ignore the vendor and buy the next lowest priced one. It's just not worth the effort to dig through a giant pile of stuff hoping to find the item when there's usually 10+ more of them for sale on different vendors for around the same price.

I thank you for your offer. But honestly I don't want to do any 'work' on my single vendor. I just keep on dreaming it will sell (and also stock!) automatically :) . But thanks, highly appreciated!

I used to switch to the legacy container view to cater to the stuck in the mud backwoods long live the horse and buggy types.

I started resetting up my vendors after a house swapping. Always low price on sales having more then enough gold for my needs. Decided to reward those EC users with deals in a neatly sorted grid view. Just sick of having to waste locks on sorting bags.

I've just moved on. Now I open a container in legacy for giggles. Like seeing old swimming suits from the 1920s and wondering how people didn't drown in all those cloths.

I don't know if you are going to give idea's to people about their vendors I'll say this:

Don't put everything in packs unless your going to label them. I am not going to go around clicking 100 chests and bags just to see what you got..... If you got something you want me to look at and buy put it ON your vendor .... as in put it IN the TOP pack... so I see it right away when I open your vendor. Nothing I hate more than sifting.... I came to shop not sift. Even with the EC nice boxes having all your stuff in packs is annoying.

Secondly if you have a vendor full of your bods with NOTHING for sale.. say so on your vendor.

Clean up your vendors, don't leave all the aforementioned bags in there long after they are all empty.

Finally... don't put on your vendor that you have "uber" gear.... I'll decide if I think it's "uber" or not... I hate when someone says they have uber gear and it's crap that was so 6 years ago. If your going to put outlandish prices on garbage your going to be costing yourself more in vendor fee's than you'll ever make.... If it's not good enough for you to use and wear on your characters then more than likely no one else is going to pay Yonkers prices for Wal-mart bargain bin junk. It's like selling me something from a gumball machine and trying to tell me it's from Tiffany's.

No problem! Everyone has what they enjoy in the game, or what they are willing to do to support financially what they enjoy. Unfortunately, unless you are selling something that is highly sought after and at lowest price... you may continue not to sell your goods and in fact, lose money with vendor fees. Owning a vendor/shop outside those parameters requires some measure of effort. It's part of the trade off for the items to sell while you aren't online. If you aren't willing to do the time, my suggestion would be to find an existing shop that does advertise and ask to place your vendors there. Good luck!

Opening a pack and seeing a wad of stuff all stacked up is a bit disappointing, especially when vendor search has shown that vendor to have what I want. I open the pack, see that, close pack and move on, dont even highlight on anything. Sad fact is, they had this same problem with Third Dawn, I woulda thought after it the next clients would somehow be able to work around that. Lesson not learned.

Sadly you are correct.... they never did work that out and neither did they work out the problem with trading things between folk in the different clients. It's annoying. They have also still not fixed books in the EC either.

I sell things just when someone asks... often folk know me well enough to know I have stuff. Otherwise I do a lot of T-Maps, MiB's etc...

If I see someone in chat saying they are buying this or that and if they offer enough to make it worth my while to quit doing what I'm doing and go dig around for the item and sell it ..... I'll do that.

Its hard to keep my vendor stocked since search came out. I don't sell rares or anything over 50k. Plants fly out of vendors. Search works great.

I like to put light colored items in a dark pack and dark colored items in a gift box so they are easier to see. I also have my boxes and bags labeled as to whats in them. I sell a lot of tools for players to use at a reasonable price. Items with 100 and above uses for 100 gold each and items with less 5 in a bag for 100 gold. This is on siege,

Take it how I give it to you then... as with all writing one can only guess the inflection and tone it is given in, I am quite honet in my post about such purchasing ability when players do their stocking inthe ec client. IT is very difficult to see what is up for sale. I spend millions when I go shopping and if i cant see the items that are in bags and pouches due to the fact they are stacked on top of one anouther who is at the loss here ? Well me for one... as a object I might be looking for for ages just might be sitting in tht unseen pouch and I will pass it over because I cant access it. Second the seller who has something he wants gold for... so he can inturn invest it in more of their game play. There is no sarcasim in this message. It is pure facts. If it can be fixed by the seller this is your wake up call.

no one likes being called a "kiddie" im sure everyone "guesses" your tone to be condescending and demeaning. Im sure if i called people around these forums an "old bag" people would take offense. so i totally understand Dermotts reaction. I like you Lady Storm, but your language comes off very bad very often. just being honest.

That's it entirely. I've run vendors in both Third Dawn (Once you learned the "2d area" is was easy) and KR (A bit harder, but still doable) as well as the EC (though due to lack of desire to play until the new UI and High Res artwork make the EC look the way it should, I am not running a vendor at present). However, being called "kiddie" is not going to endear myself or any other EC players to the 2d/CC crowd basically demanding we do things "their way". Sorry, I'll support the EC (or whatever the next client iteration may be because the game can and should move forwards technologically, not remain stalled) and those who play it by offering them better deals that the 2d player feel inclined to pass up.

With Vendor Search and grid and list views, vendors are nice and user friendly now. A "pile in a corner" to me is a nice listing of items to look through without having to open 20+ bags (18 of which tend to be empty).

I LOVE vendor search both as a merchant AND as a shopper - omg it has made my life SO much easier! I no longer have the sheer drudgery of going around dropping runes, and I'm selling stuff just fine (way out in the boonies, not even in Luna or Tok!!) as the search allows me to price my stuff competitively and quickly!

As for the ec v 2d argument, omg give me a break! After all these yrs? Seriously? Look I use 2d, i have tried using ec - multiple times, but I dont like most of the graphics (paperdoll is an exception, lol) I dont like the movement and I dont like the color scheme - I just prefer 2d and that's what I'm going to use. Nor am I going to waste time complaining about which client peeps use, it's a personal choice and that's that. I know many, many peeps who have lots of gold to spend, like to shop, and also only use 2d.

SO.. that said, ec users who want to ACTUALLY sell things to 2d users need to accept the fact that folks using 2d simply cannot see all the items you have for sale if you don't bother to stock the vendor in your legacy view. If we cant get at the item to even click 'buy' - we can't buy it. Seems pretty darn straight-forward to me.
And stating that 'well you should all use ec' is a ridiculous and very unhelpful comment.

Ok that's my two bits, lol

Ok both of you... this is the reason I am beginning to dislike posting in Stratics.
If you dont like it over look it as it must not apply to you... when it was not even aimed at you or anyone for that matter.
You nit pick on the most stupidest things and forgo the reason for the post entirly.
This post is about the EC client and its use in filling vendors and the in ability to access the content of said vendor.
I am not alone in the difficulty in accessing the content of the vendors stocked in the EC client.
They are loosing sales.. this I think is more important then my use of "kiddies" in addressing my fellow players.
We are all children of this earth, and age has no berring in it.
The joy of UO play and my liking of our players here I tend to give them the youthfull billing in my thinking.
I am not saying your young or old but that you have a heart for being young thinking to explore all that UO gives.
A very old and wise man by the name of walt said we are all children at heart I hope was right.....

@Lady Storm, I like you, and respect that it's just the way you are used to writing, but multiple people have said they find it insulting, I can remember about 5 in the last few months alone. Clearly some people don't like that word, so it would help avoid this sort of drama if you could just replace it with another word you like, maybe "friends" or something like that. Even I thought you meant it as an insult the first couple times I saw you write it, I realized later on you only meant it as an expression, but others don't realize that. Considering the vast majority of Stratics users are in the 30-60 age bracket, they aren't really kiddies anymore :) I don't mean this as an insult, just as a suggestion to help.

Which shard and which plants?
LS of course. All the plants except colored bonsai. The prices have gone back up to normal after search exposed a lot of cheap stuff. Those are gone now and the market is good.

You can find a lot of interesting stuff when you learn to use the vendor search.

To keep on topic. I only use CC. I have not seen any vendors that have items stacked in a corner, so I guess most vendor houses use CC or whatever makes it look like it.
