King's Collection - Bug or Feature?

I recently purchased the King's Collection a second time to update a second account with it and to have access to it on Atlantic. The account that owns the house does not have King's Collection on it because...well there's no need for it - no crafters on that account.

So I am able to place the items with either of the accounts that have King's Collection enabled on it (as they are both co-owners to this home) but when I go to retrieve the potions, scroll of transcendence or any other items generated by the Paintings, I get the message only the house owner can do that.

Okay. Fine. I log out, get my house owner.

"You must have the King's Collection theme pack to use that."

I understand that like this is a feature, but really, I feel it's a bug. Co-owners that can place (and did place) the items should be able to pull the items they placed from the paintings/plant. Period. I agree that the owner of the house who doesn't have the theme pack shouldn't be able to pull from them, but it just seems plain silly that the co-owners who placed them can't even get the resources.

Is there any way to fix this? I mean anyone can access the vet rewards (like mining carts and lumberjack ones) if they have the right permissions - I would think it would be the same for this theme pack.

Its because the kings collections has two parts. Part 1) the account code it allows you to craft the craft able stuff and used the deco stuff.
Part 2) the code that gives you the token that give you the box of goodies. Crappy. :lame: :bs: I know but only way your other account can collect the stuff from the paintings and the sponge is to have Kings collection. It's a way for them to make money. Sorry. :sad4:

I have to agree with the op...its not fair that if your allowed as a co to place it you should be able to retrieve the items from it too.

Oh I agree, but they're not going to change it. I never disagreed with her. I just explained why. Lately a lot of things in UO suck , just sayin.

I believe you can have a co-owner place and also use a raised garden bed in a house that is owned by an account that hasn't been updated with the Rustic theme pack, as long as the co-owner account is updated with the Rustic theme pack. You get the garden beds in the same way you get the King's Collection items, i.e., by putting in a code in the Help screen while in-game. (I haven't messed with a Chest of Sending from the Gothic theme pack in so long that I can't remember if their placement/use rules are the same as the garden beds. I think those have a security settings option but any character that meets the security settings criteria also has to be on an account that has been upgraded with the Gothic theme pack.)

It doesn't really make sense why the in-game items from the various upgrades are obtained through an identical process and yet the rules governing who can make effective use of them and where they can use them are not also identical. And I don't think anyone could seriously argue that the King's Collection items that give you the potions, powder charges or SoTs are vastly more beneficial than the raised garden beds. The potions are okay and the heavy powder charges are great. However, the random 0.1 SoT once per week is truly laughable. Every time I collect one, I wonder if the programming got screwed up and it was intended that they instead be 1.0 SoTs instead but no one caught the mistake and fixed it before the collection was rolled out.

I think you misunderstood my post.

The accounts that have Kings Collection can't even access them and they're the one that placed them in the house. It says only the house owner can access them. If you login on the account that is the house owner, who doesn't have King's Collection, she can't collect them.

And quick edit - I understand part 2 - but it's pretty stupid to claim part 2 on an account that doesn't have King's Collection on it because you can't place any of them. Plain and simple. Thus why it's really weird that you can place the items as a co-owner to a house, but not use them.

You can. My account on Origin that has the auction house has neither expansion but the co-owner to it does. She placed 4 garden beds and can use all four beds on the house - thus me figuring the King's Collection would be the same way. I figured I could place and use them as they're co-owners. And you can't.

That is right only the house owner can access them and the house owner must have the Kings Collection. That all I was trying to say. I didn't mean to piss off everybody and the Pope too.

You needed more caffeine :p It sounded like you were trying to explain to me how the King's Collection works and not that only the house owner can use it.

Either way - it shouldn't be that way. If vet rewards like the mining carts (which is sometimes way more OPed than the potions or scroll of transcendence you can get) can be accessed by co-owners and not the house owner, or the Garden beds can be used in a house on an account without the Gothic/rustic pack but can be placed and used by co-owners, etc. then it should be true for King's collection too. It doesn't make sense to have multiple rules for things.

I think it is more of a bug; Some things like the chest of sending, raised garden bed, ore cart, sheep statue and vet reward tree stump, the person placing it has access to the item and can even set security on some of them; Other items like the rose rug and kings collection items can be placed by a co-owner, but only the house owner can actually use the item. Its a bit inconvenient since many of us have multiple accounts simply for the sake of having multiple houses. It would be nice if my main character who placed the items could also collect from them, or even set access for "friend" "co-owner" etc.

Not just King's Collection. I get the same message with vet reward rugs.

Its also a problem with placing the vet reward Ankhs - houseowner only, claiming the golem from gadgetry table - placed by the reward owner as coowner of the house, but only house owner can claim the golem and some other stuff like this mentioned here. Maybe the lighthouse not recovering some boats has to do with the same split between house owner (moving crate) and coowners/placers (ship owners of decayed ship and lighthouse owners).

Truly a penalty for people, who pay already for multiple accounts, but want to decide, which item is used in which house/on which shard and by which account/character.
Sadly enough, that so many of the vet rewards and shop items are house only use.

Dont think you got that far in any way as far as pissing off the pope hehehe..
It was just adding in that I too have found the lopsided ways some items in UO are set for use.
Like the Herb Basket... you can put it down in any house but to use it you cant... again only the house owner can...stupid I know.
Raised garden beds on the other hand are open if you set the access...
Its like 2 or 3 people are making up the rules and dont talk over how it will be used by players....

I always thought it was extremely lame myself. And VERY annoying. I'm co-owned to all my homes and to me any one of my characters ought to be able to get the junk off the items... but no.... doesn't work that way.

Or maybe @Kyronix - Are these systems working as intended? OR were they supposed to be freely usable to a certain extent?

Well I think the main reason owners don't have the stuff displayed in their house is because they don't like the look or their walls are filled with stuff they like better. Can't you just lock ship and fire paintings down in a locked down box like shard shields? I would think that would solve the problem most have with them. I have mine displayed so I'm not sure about that. But I'll look into it when I get in game. I think they might be deeded which I could see being a problem. Had mine up for so long I've forgotten.

The paintings are indeed deeded items.

Many of the King's Collection wall-mountable items have height bugs. The tapestries are way down at the floor and can't be raised. :(

Some items like this (although i haven't tried it with the King's Collection tapestries) can be gotten around by going to the floor above, or onto a temporarily placed ladder. Open the interior decorator tool, use Ctrl-Shift, and raise the object that way. Have to be careful though, if you raise it too high you will bring it to the next floor. But can get it 3 or 4 clicks higher this way.

So true. Some of them are beautiful, but to have them sitting on the floor is useless. A real what were you thinking moment. This kinda thing has gone on forever too. I real felt ripped off when I tried to place a lot of this stuff. No excuse for it. To have it just roll on and never be fixed is inexcusable. We should be able to push them right up through the ceiling if we want. I have a lot of stuff like that. I just put some furniture on the floor above to hide them, lol. I might try the decorator tool trick, but when I do Ctrl-Shift my whole screen is full, lol.

Pinco's UI and the EC for the win!!! In the EC with Pinco's I can actually "filter" my control shift to see whatever it is I'm looking for. Be it a Goza mat or whatever.

Infact this is insanely helpful at EM events when your looking for your own corpse amongst 5 or 10 others on top of yours. Or if you are looking for the mob corpse to loot it and there are 400 dead elemental or dragon corpses on it.

I'll never use the EC. To not have the CC would be the only way to get me to quit. It wouldn't be the same game anymore.

Yeah, I used to say that too. And then you get to the point where you need to do something that's just easier on EC, so you tell yourself that just this once I'll do it, no one will notice. And then before you know it, you are sneaking around when you think the CC isn't looking and loading the EC more and more. Poor CC, but what can I say, I'm weak....

If you tried it only when it first came out... you are honestly only hurting yourself not to try it again. It's improved by leaps and bounds. Granted many of the mobs look funny... to say the least..... poor hiryu's got a raw deal..... but with Pinco's UI the functionality of the EC is such now that you sell yourself short by not using it.

To me to return to using the old clunky CC would be such an inconvenient step backwards that if I had to do it to play UO.... I would rather quit. Only thing that irritates me to no end anymore is books.

Well never say never. But I wouldn't hold my breath :)
Thought for awhile that I'd find another game to love like I do UO. I tried a few..... looked at dozens. Truth is... none of them have what UO does.

I thought there were several coming out recently that held a whole lot of promise for me.... First would have been Neverwinter. Always loved the Drow. Then they had to ruin it for me by saying at first that if you wanted to play a Drow you'd have to fork out 200 bucks... that must not have gone over very well with Joe Q public so then they backtracked and said..... well yeah you could play Drow without shelling out the 200 bucks....... but if you wanted to play real DROW with all the fancy trimmings and be "top dog" in the heat..... then you still need to fork out 200 bucks.... That didn't taste good to me. Left a really bad taste.... made me think.... what a bunch of money grubbing SoB's... don't think I want to play their game. Then I looked at Arch Age.... Truth of that was if you don't get in early and make a ton of friends quick... You're never going to do squat in that game. You'll be behind the curve from day one... and getting a plot of land to build on anywhere remotely decent.... day dream... Kinda like when I first started playing UO. Almost quit 2 weeks in...... Know why? I was sold a bill of goods that was a LIE. I was told I could have a house... build something. It was a LIE. There were no places to place a house... Buying one was a joke.... 5 million gold when gold was selling at 25 dollars or more...... that's 125 bucks for a tiny 7x7 plot. Made me angry. Real angry. But it was too late then I was hooked.

I don't want to get suckered in another game. I don't want to start all over. I don't want to have to work 100's of hours just to scrape by anymore.

I tried Sim's Online when that came out..... it sucked. Another lie... Suckered... I didn't stay at it past beta...

I looked at WoW..... either full of a bunch of perverts... Yeah you heard me... Or it's just questing and like Final Fantasy I can look at everyone know exactly what level they are, what skills they got... and everything at a glance. Because they are all the SAME.

I been playing EQ Landmark. The game is beautiful... but the lag is insane and they think we can PvP with that? Heck 70% of UO's player base wouldn't even be able to download the game... it takes Windows 7 64 Bit or better to run.... you need a quad core.... and it don't hurt to have the most modern of a pc with all the bells and whistles and enough Ram to download the library of congress in 5 min. But sure is pretty.

But it too has it's faults. Course right now most of those are the fact that there is NOTHING really in the game to do. Build... Like Minecraft on steriods... It's a very pretty game... but it's not UO. Starting to have my doubts that it ever will be. Still waiting to see how the rest of the game comes along.... but not waiting a whole heck of a lot longer. February I believe will be it's 1 year anniversary... yet the game is only 20% built. They claim it's more than that but really ...... It's not. They are a very long way from it being playable.

Maybe UO won't last another 17 years.... I don't know. But I really don't think that there will ever be anything that I will ever really care about like I do UO ever again. And if sometimes I sound irritable with the DEV's.... or disgusted with the content or whatever.... It's because I really wish we could show the people playing all those other games what they are missing... But sadly most of them won't see past the blurry graphics... the lack of GM support.... Or the lack of a true website and forum. It's heartbreaking... And I'm sure not only for me but for the DEV team who I imagine would like to do oh so many things ..... wonderful things.. if only they had the resources to do them.

And I never thought I'd ever leave UO. But it breaks my heart to see it in the current state. Just got no where else to go. So I try to make the most of what we have. One of those things.... is a very incredible community. Like no other. I do hope it stays that way.
