Tokuno Galleon Colors

Something's been nagging at me for a couple of weeks about the Tokuno galleons. Right about the time we had the mysterious patch that changed housing and galleon delay, I purchased a brand new Tokuno galleon at the sea market for my fisher on Baja. When she put the boat in the water, it was a lot darker in color than the Tokuno galleons my fishers on other shards have been using for quite some time.

Today I took the time to buy Tokuno galleons on some additional shards (this time from the ship builder outside Zento) and found that a few of them were for the dark brown Tokuno galleons and the rest were for a more "normal" lighter color. Upon closer inspection of some of the lighter colored galleons, however, it seems to me that there is also a difference among those, with some having more of a yellowish cast to them versus others with more of a pinkish cast.

So, have all of these color variations, including the very dark brown, been around all along for the Tokuno galleons, or is this just something that changed recently and some shards have been patched for it and others haven't? The color difference even seems to affect the color of the galleon on the radar map and definitely affects the color of a dry-docked galleon. (I have not used the ship dyes on any of these galleons.)

Has anyone else noticed this, or do I just not have enough to do in UO these days to get caught up in such minutiae?

I'm pretty sure the vendor bought boats have slight variations in color, but I am not certain. All I know about boats is I gave up on the boat paints once I found out they'd be temporary. I'm ok with the given colors, in that case.

Me too. I started buying them at first but it's too much of an expense to maintain.... so I quit doing it. I do like the permanent boat paint we got with the Captains thing... but Honestly... It's to "bright" and pastel for me. I wish I could get a permanent paint that is darker.

Makes me wonder if you bought 10 ships off them if they would all be the same color or not...

Yeah the whole thing about maintaining the color kinda cheapens an otherwise really nice feature of having the new boats. Not sold on that being a great idea. Gold sinks for unnecessary things is kinda cool, but not so much in this case. You'd have to be a pretty hard core sailor to want to keep up on that.

I just remembered something else I meant to post yesterday about galleons. As I was going down the list of shards yesterday, I realized that the galleon I had on Lake Austin was one of the gargoyle ones, so I needed to buy a Tokuno one for this little project.

I was very surprised when my fisher deployed the newly-purchased Tokuno galleon from the deed, boarded the boat and clicking on the tillerman revealed that the galleon was already "slightly worn"!!

The last time that character had a galleon deployed was on August 9, 2013, when I took a break from fishing because I'd been trying the quests and was getting nothing but junk rewards.

So, now I'm wondering why in the world her brand-new galleon was already "slightly worn" yesterday. Did
she perhaps pay the shipwright full price for someone's old, patched-up galleon that they sold back to the NPC at half-price or something?!?

Since shipwright NPCs don't seem to be interested in buying back used galleons, I do not think this is the case. Instead, I wonder if somehow the game has kept track for over a year now that my fisher's old gargoyle galleon was "slightly worn" when it was dry docked and it just applied that decay state to any new galleon or boat she deployed. In other words, perhaps the game is storing galleon decay status on your account. If yes, then what happens if you use a character from another account to refresh the galleon? Does the game temporarily lose track of that galleon at that point? If yes, could that explain some of the problems people have had with ship/galleon recovery by lighthouses? Perhaps the only way the lighthouses work correctly is if you always and only refresh your ship/galleon with characters from the same account as the boat owner or indeed, perhaps just with the actual boat owner who has never departed the shard or returned to it with a galleon left in the water.

Anyway, just thought I'd tack this on here. Meant to do it yesterday as kind of a curiosity point but forget about it until earlier today.
