I use go to the third party sites to search for items, I haven't visited such a site since in-game search has been implemented though, the Devs did a hell of a job with it.
The only thing that would make it even better is if there could be an official game-wide search perhaps on UO.com sometime in the future, that would work off of the in-game search system...
Of course, lets hope they update it before the next publish comes out, to add the options for negative/not negative, since loot is being changed a bit.

Yes. Good point! I would love if you could see all item properties, too. But no problem: I pay 1000 an beam there for an inspection. But... Imagine: Move your cursor over the item in the search menu and see all its properties... That would be great...

There is magic spot you need to point cursor. Sometimes you need move cursor far away and point to magic spot quickly to see properties. Keep trying, sometimes it work.
you wouldn't, by any chance, have turned 'tool tips' off?
While I use the new UO search system for items I am looking to buy on my shard I still use the 3rd party search if I am looking to sell an item to get a global price for it
Does it work in both clients? I missed that feature, will look when I get home from work

Anyway... awesome feature. My vendor, out in the boonies, would sell nothing if not for that. Double edged sword though. I love not searching vendors for hours not even knowing if what I'm looking for is even available. But sometimes digging through vendors you find a cool thing you forgot about or didn't even know existed.
try making sure "tooltips" is enabled in options. I think i had this problem of the the item properties not being displayed but after alot of messing around i figured out that was the problem. Its not very intuitive to have to enable that so i was glad i finally figured it out.
Changing the color of the tooltip font is also advisable if you had a dark color. I had dark grey since the start and never used this feature before, so didnt realize that i could change it to a brighter color. I now have red which i can actually see.
My only other problem is that its still a bit buggy. Very often, maybe once per vendor session it gives me the message "you must be in a justice region or in your house blah blah blah" even tho im sitting by luna bank, or in my house" Then i have to wait a few mins for it to work again. Not a huge issue, but still time consuming and a frustrating bug.

Yup, same here.
As far as tooltips (which I just checked for): I never noticed that's why I was able to see item properties if I was on the right spot for it. I figured it was intended, but I thought it was universal.
If I'm trying to figure out how much to charge for something, I just log on to a couple of the shards that seem to have a good number of shops still and look up the item I'm wondering about. I note all the various prices being charged on that shard and enter it into a spreadsheet I set up on Google to figure out the minimum and maximum prices. It doesn't really take that long to do and it's always kind of interesting to see which shards seem to have the highest and lowest prices, in general. (For example, I'd always kind of thought Atlantic's prices were the highest, but was surprised to see that prices on Drachenfels are often significantly higher than everywhere else, at least on many of the items I've already researched.)
I agree, though, with one of the posters above (Covenant?) that it would be nice to be able to go to a website (probably uo.com) and be able to look at search results across shards all at once.
