If I want a giggle I'll go over to the hot-guild forums and have a look. OMG those guys can have a 20 page thread about utter crap. It makes me laugh. Literally!

Gamefaqs sometimes, but not much. This is the only mmo I play, and when I play single player games I tend to just do it, and don't feel much need to discuss it with anyone.
Spend the rest of my pointless internet time wasting on sports/movie forums.
As far as for UO is concerned ....... I mostly only use Stratics unless it is stuff for Great Lakes then I use the UORPC.net.... for our forums. Which I read daily.
I talk about UO sometimes on the EQ Landmark Forums when I think about it.... trying to corrupt players there to check out UO. I talk in the global chat there about my love of UO sometimes as well. I'm so naughty. But far as other stuff goes.... I pretty much stick to UO. And I'm usually on stratics daily. One thing I love about that game is they often have loads of folk streaming stuff and help video's on Twitch and you can find dozens of help video's for that game on YouTube. They also have a forum just for screenshots of peoples work on their plots. Some folk there are super amazingly talented at building and designing.
I know it's a shame only a few use or read Stratics... Heck most UO players don't even pay attention to the splash screen and most of the Stratics readers know this..... We are forever logging in to Vent or Global chat and answering 50 times what a patch is about... or any number of other questions. Because folk are too freaking lazy to read and look at forums themselves or something they want someone to tell them everything. I fail to understand that.
To me keeping up with what's going on is important. You have to wonder if they don't bother to read the forums or anything here for the game they play ...... then do they ever read the paper or watch the news with things going on in the RL? Or do they wait for everyone to tell them that too?
And folk wonder what is wrong with the world we live in.

I understand why a large portion dont use forums. I played UO for years and was way too busy with just the game content to bother with the forums. I can imagine casual players, who play a few hours a week are in the same boat. Game time is spent playing the game, not checking some forum. Anyway, its very understandable why for many players checking a forum is just not something they would do.
In wow i used the official wow, albeit rarely. Most information was readily available from the actual game. Changes were made very known right in the game. I prefered some player run sites which had very good spreadsheets for gear optimization.
Only a small minority of players frequent the forums of ANY game; UO and Stratics are hardly unique in that arena.
As to the OP, I only play UO, so Stratics is the only forum I visit every day, although I watch the whining and threatening over at Shroud of the Avatar occasionally, until I get tired of the s.o.s. from the same people and stop watching for a couple of weeks again.

Agreed, tho you need a thick skin. those forums seem to be alot more "fun" and carefree than we have here on stratics. I wish we could have more fun here, but alas someone always seems to be too easily offended
I highly suggest people check out some of the other forums mentioned here. Myself, i mainly play UO currently, however will be checking out the ones Taylor and others have suggested. (and of course still use stratics)
Only working with a singular forum can lead to things being stale, boring, and confining.
Users/moderators alike not being familiar with "the norms" modern gamers use to communicate only detracts from stratics being a vibrant, active forum with a wide variety of players who love UO.
I hope that stratics can strive to be inviting to the widest range of players and allow open, fun discussion of the game we all love.
