I specifically asked Dart this question in game this morning, and he stated he did not return it, nor does he plan too.
Unfortunately, the integrity of some people is scarce and they try to reason it away and/or tie it into other misgivings that
they themselves are involved in (whatever that may be), instead of seeing what this is, which is just a simple mistake of an
item sold that wasn't intended.
