Is ICQ the way to go still

Just asking...had a new laptop...and unable to access my old 10 year icq account due to password/old emails or the fact my old icq never had a telephone number assigned to it...no idea just cant log into it anymore

...kinda mega pissed off..but thinking about it 270 out the 300 contacts were always red offline anyways....the new general chat is awesome for on shard talk......so do people still use icq ?? ive been told mumble?? not sure...just is it worth while actually making a new icq account...if peopledont use it and use something else now

any thoughts

I use ICQ, it's funny, when people start to play UO again, they get online on ICQ again.

Alot of people type in ICQ more than in the actual game, so yes it's still very popular. makes finding people so much easier.

Coming back to UO I was surprised ICQ was still king. I really enjoyed teamspeak in other games to quickly coordinate guild events. I couldn't imagine trying to type I need a heal, or attack monster X. I realize this is apples and oranges as ICQ isn't meant for that. But you would think if say you were a PVP guild, or a guild doing a boss you'd certainly want something like teamspeak. I still haven't gotten ICQ, I see I must, lol.

I use icq - or to be more accurate, I use pidgin. I got fed up with the amount of 'bloat' there is in icq now.
I also can be reached by my staff via AIM, Skype, email or PM. I vowed to be accessible when I took on the role

Miranda IM is the way to go - super lightweight and small like the original ICQ client

and for voice, everyone uses Ventrilo - not any other of the other stuff you mentioned

I've hated ICQ since they quit letting me download the old ICQ Pro 2003b? All these later versions are so bulky they just arent convenient for me anymore. And besides, the circle of friends ingame now is down to enough to talk to in chat

Once in a blue moon I'll use the web based ICQ after years of having it on computers. I find it simpler, cleaner and less of a nuisance. Skype and Mumble work best for me.

ICQ makes me laugh... one day one of my cats got out and was running rooftops at my old condo... the only thing was he wanted back in and couldnt find our part.... I turned on icq and turnd up the volume on my lappy.... bingo he found in fast... he knew it was mommy!
