things like free skill shurikens and moving shot can make archery dismount OP in 1v1 situations. when special moves were first introduced, every combat skill except archery and wrestling were given an RNG chance to proc. I'm not sure who had the bright idea to make archers on par with the three melee skills, but hey, here we are. now wrestling is the only UP class (I'm sure someone is still using DS and somehow owning people ;P).
other than maybe serpent arrow, I don't think any specials introduced with ML are actually used other than moving shot, so you have one rather OP move which negates the major handicap of the skill--not being able to move while firing--and then 6 other specials that no one is going to use. I imagine it'll stay like that for quite a long time, too.
anyway, tying bolas to skill would make them useless. maybe a timer penalty or a stamina penalty. probably ought to add a re-mount penalty as well, and make it so people who use bolas need to commit to the ground.
Lol this thread is great and the fact that llewen made it is awesome...tho im kinda sad it wasnt about chiv recalling in pvp. I love how every one that is bad at pvp thinks every one uses scripts and hacks. Tbh any one who gets bola often is just bad or dosnt under stand mechanics of the game just d mount pre cast cure good to go. Also u can get 3 teleports off when bolaing with uoa. I can make a quick video showing how to do it if any one needs it.
My 100 ping only allows me to get 2, I wanna see you do 3, it must be very hard imo lol
Haha yeah my 16 pings lets me tele pretty fast but u can still get 3 with 100ping u just have to have the macro. It casts tele then swings the bola so right when the tele is done casting your bola is all rdy on its way so then u can get 2 more off befor it hits. I can upload a video when i get home 
Heres a quick video i made on a friends account (since mine is down :< )..Showing the 2 macros i used on uo assist to be able to get 3 teleports off when throwing a bola...since some people claim its not possible to do on uo assist?? If Any one needs help on setting up the macro feel free to pm id be glad to help and squash this every decent pvper is a hacker / scripter thing 0o .

The "scripts and cheats" you are referring to are subject to the same item delay timers with UOA. You wonder why you die to everyone, you worry about excuses and not improving your game play.

Yeah sorry let me be clear. The macro calls for u to have the person u want to bola on last target. my #2 macro is to dismount. then my #1 macro is to cast a teleport and while the teleport is casting it will que up and bola and auto targ who ever u have as last target before the teleport is done casting. then i have another key just to cast teleports. So you hit your #2 macro(dismount) then u hit your #1 macro (1 teleport and bola) then u click the ground when the curser comes up for the first teleport then u hit w/e key your regular teleport is and cast that 2 more times.
Im actually teleporting before the bola goes off. When people see you dismount and que up a bola they tend to runaway so teleporting lets you stay in range and allows you to actually bola them.
To make the #1 macro in uoa you click macro then click record. Then cast a teleport then hit Esc then double click a bola and hit esc then click stop. it should look like this:

THat still doenst explain how you bypass the timer of dismounting yourself and getting a bola up immediately. Thats the part that i said cant be done in uoa. Funny how the only people saying it can be done are known cheaters. I also ping 13 to atlantic and hey arnold makes me look like im on foot when im trying to catch him.
Are you referring to the "use item timer?" Like if you try to use too many objects too quickly you get the "you must wait to perform an action" system message? I haven't logged into uo in months but I'm pretty sure it's near 1/4 second though if you set it that low at least for me sometimes there will be some ping lag that breaks the macro.....
I have two speeders to improve my animations, casting, and speed. I have a proxy to also enhance my speed so I can be fast. I have a script to do all my chugging and dismounting and remounting and bola because learning the timers was too hard and physically impossible. I actually don't even play uo, I have this robot that does 100% of everything and I Don't even play, because robots cannot lose. Then I have this script that mathematically calculates the best calls on all the information it gathers so I won't call a shot wrong. I also have a wall script so I can dismount you where you think it is impossible. I have an invulnerable bug so I never die. It's not that I'm better than you or anything, it's 100% script. Every single player that you cry about uses all of this too. Not because they have more skill than you, but because they're cheating.
best way to take care of no dismount is simple just walk and you will never have to put up with being dismounted ever again.
Dismount is fairly lame in all scenarios but it does work as intended and has been part of the game for quite a long time.
That being said I have always stated that it should be tweaked so that is not such a death sentence in gank situations.
You can argue that it has counters such as ninja, mirror, pots, etc... but those counters are very ineffective in gank situations and if you want to pvp, ganks are routine.
I believe that the devs need to tweak it somehow so that it can be occasionally countered by warrior or mage templates for pvp purposes.

The problem is not with the bola, but the fact that you are outnumbered. No matter how you believe the bola should be tweaked, ganks will always be the real problem. And regardless of how you tweak the bola, they will always find a way to prevent you from escaping.
Lol, you cheater kids make me laugh. I don't care about being on foot, cause there is noone in this post that will kill me solo. All i said is people are bypassing a timer, which is straight fact. I attempted that macro arnold put up and it doesn't work, Minimum timer to foot yourself and get bola up is 7oo in uoa with all legal programs. The people I see do it, hit ground and insta have bola up. Oh and I ping 15-18 on atlantic so don't give me its your connection nonsense.

Those are just the two quickest ones I could find of me killing you 1 v 1, except one of them is 1 v 1 where you had a healer, so.....
while you're at it, it's also very easy to add dismount/mount UOA macros, as well. just hit record and double click yourself, or double click your horse. but while all of these things can be legally macro'd through UOA, there are still--and I'm just speaking from general experience--people who do use speeders. it's not 100% of the people lol but, I have a hard time understanding why people act like there are no cheaters at all?
either way, hard not to appreciate the time you're taking to give just a straight forward tutorial.

It's true if you don't want to put yourself into said dismount situation, turn a 360° & ride away. Although, if you don't care about it, then just keep going, & try to have fun along the way.

It's called Ninjitsu stop crying and adapt or quit... It's your choice!Dismounting in pvp has always been ridiculous, and it isn't improving. And this is coming from someone who uses it a lot. It's just too easy to dismount someone, and when it happens in an uneven numbers situation, it is typically game over.
My suggestion is pretty simple, make dismounting a melee skill that you have to "hit" with, just as you do a weapon. So when you chuck a bola, it checks your dismount skill, and if you make the hit, the dismount attempt succeeds. With weapons that have a dismount special you have to first activate the special and hit with the weapon, then a check is made against the dismount skill to see if the attempt succeeds.

Just saying here.. is he refering to the old faction horse bola trick? You USED to be able to bola then hop on a faction horse and run around with a bola "precast".. that was fixed awhile ago around when faction died out...
As for bolas I love them and don't think they need to be changed. I'd rather see disarm fixed, as currently mage weapons are useless. I've adapted to wrestle to counter but I still prefer mage weapons for temp diversity.

Im confused. Which of these counters works for a warrior? Because each one appears to start with casting teleport or another spell such as attunement or heal or invis. And which of them works when its 1 vs 3?
Nobody is complaining about being dismounted 1 vs 1
Why do fools always try to suggest counters that have absolutely no effect on all templates or even more then one template?
Btw, everything has the possibility of a counter in any situation. The point that the actual pvpers are trying to make is that dismount lacks enough feasible counters in real pvp/gank situations. Not on your blackboard.
Bottom line is that 1 vs 2 or 1 vs 3 should not be a death sentence because of a move like dismount which takes up no template points and takes no skill at all to perform.
Tele/invis jewls...learn to play! I get dismounted many many times 4-5v1 and survive "almost" every time..sorry you're having a tough time with UO
