Siege population : has it increased significantly since the Housing change ?

A question to veteran players of the Siege Perilous shard....

Did you notice a significant population increase since the handy Housing change which allowed players to have a 2nd house on Siege ?

I am not talking about the number of placed houses on Siege, that certainly increased..... I am talking about actual visible players playing the Siege shard....

If you had to make a guess, would you say that the population of Siege, since the housing change, increased a +10% ? A +20% ? More ?

I do realize the moongate says Felucca... Just a minor bug. Siege happened before Trammel and that is just some of the "bleed over".

I can tell ya, you can be what ever ya want to be. Even with just one character. And if ya want... everyone will know yer name.

Population seems to be more active in some respects but like any shard it seems to have it's up and downs.

It is a little difficult for me to evaluate the current population post Housing change to pre-housing change if I am not knowledged of what it was like, before the housing change took place....

That is why I was asking the opinion of veteran Siege players, because they are the only ones who know what it was like before the housing change and what it is like now after the housing change...

Siege is like waves, it depend of what goes on, what other games people want to test out, new publics, the weather outside.
Alot have active chars on Siege, but if they login and it seem dead, they may log Again. If they login and all are active trying out new stuff or large IDOC, they will join the fun and the shard can be very busy.

The houses did help but there is a few more thing we need. I personly look forward to see the effect of global loot upgrade as more reason to use the overland around player town may bring back some of the action we lost. I loved interact with local PK's and I miss being a red RP PK, sharing some fun with chars hanging out in the forest.

I also believe vendor seach are a great help to Siege, as it make it easier to find stuff and may bring the shops back in the player Towns.

We have players who came with the house changes, who still play and seem to do well so yes, it was a great changes, even when we have a few more unused houses.

For those that did come and placed a house when the house rule changed for Siege and decided to not stay it would be sorta nice if you could drop your house so others who want to play Siege can place. I know that, for various reasons, some won't but if even a few do, it will help.

Oh yeah, also if you have stuff you don't want on Siege there are many who can use it so don't toss it out, sell it in GC.

Oh well, will log and walk around checking whether there is still a no spawn spot for a decent size home for me to place (as soon as I raise the needed gold, that is...).

There is open spots in Luna for house placing you just have to come over, and look.

And there is a wonderful guild called NEW2 that helps new Siege players get their footing. One of the first things you should do is get into general chat and ask for Freja and get guilded. Although not all honor this, most do, those that have NEW2 guild tags are somewhat protected for a month.

What you're least likely to find at this point are open plots of land close to towns or moongates (remember that you can't use Recall or Sacred Journey spells on Siege or Mugen). However, if your character(s) have enough magery skill to cast gate spell, a more remote location shouldn't be at all difficult to find nor should it be ruled out, unless you know for certain that every character you make will not have any magery skill.

As a fail-safe, you could always purchase a pair of rechargeable teleporter tiles from the Origin store (or get the vet reward version that doesn't require recharging) and ask someone who has a house in Magincia or close to a moongate to let you place a teleporter tile in their house that is linked to one in your house. And don't forget about the crystal and corrupted crystal portals for getting around.

You'll also want your mage character(s) to keep an extra set of LRC and/or a piece or two of still-charged arcane clothing in the bank to let you gate back home again if you end up losing your character's LRC suit and find yourself suitless and in town somewhere.

We work at home most times and dont bank sit... though I will comment we do use Chat alot. hehe
Hours vary ofcourse and as most of UO shards have a lull in players running around.
But dont take that for not slinking around....

I'm not sure when exactly the housing change happened, but the last time I played was late 2010.

• There are about half as many people on Siege as there were in 2010, as far as I can tell. (But this is probably true for all shards not named Atlantic?)
• There are 2 medium sized PvP/Champ guilds (TnT/TNA and [A]) and 2 small sized guilds (YARR and i4Ni).
• There is 1 large blue guild (GIL) and another medium sized guild (NBT).
• There is also 1 small "evil" guild (TDO); not pk, not pvp, but not necessarily blue.
• NEW2 is always recruiting, like it has for the past decade, but I'm not sure how many people stick around after their 30 days are up.
• And then there are other random small guilds (maybe made up of a single people's alts) and a couple random pks.
• Of course, there are also the Barter Town folk, but we don't talk about them.

Siege Perilous could use another guild or 2 if anyone out there wants to try something new.
Like the OP pointed out, you can have a 2nd house on Siege on a single account, so why not?

I didn't even know about this housing change, haha. Maybe I'll create a char there and get to the point where I anger the so called pvpers of the shard. I believe stealth should be outlawed on siege though, seems kinda lame to me. I would assume when people do show up to fight its most likely a gank, no different then other shards though

I made a char when siege came out never worked him... Just collected rewards. I sold em off lately to a very nice player that gavee a bit extra to get me started.

That said i was able to place a house.. Get lrc suit and still have plenty in the bank.

Its been fun working skills...
