Axes no longer destroy wooden boxes?

I was placing some tree deco around my place,and I was trying to drop a twisted cypress tree in the NW corner while using a wooden box. I tried all manner of axes from hatchet to double axe. Nothing will break the box so I can place the tree on a specific tile. Has that be removed from the game?

LoL something that wasn't really a design and was exploited by factioners to place 100's of items in ONE place is gone? Awe, sorry you cannot deco like oyu want but glad to see they fixed something that should have been dealt with instantly when 50 candelabras where sitting in one place :-(

You might still be able to do it by walloping a trash barrel? I did it about a month back.

Edited bit - Just make sure you do it in a timely fashion .

use a small round bag instead of the box.
I have just axed a wooden box with no problem at all. Are you perhaps trying to axe it while it is locked down?
place the box, axe it THEN lock down the item you are trying to place.

When I attempt to ax the wooden box,I get the notice "Use this on corpses to carve away meat and hide." I have left it unlocked on the tile I want the tree,but it doesn't work. I took Leather Lucy's advice and used a trash barrel,and it did the trick.

I noticed at times the way the wooden box is turned I can't axe it. lock it down turn it then unlock it and try axing it.

Boxes still work.. I just used that trick to place some carpet tiles next to the guard rail by the stairs... I used small crates and a hatchet.

Wooden boxes still work they just have to be player-crafted. Boxes that the npc provisioner sells will not work.
