Have Name Change Tokens ever been offered in game ?

I cannot remember if Name Change Tokens at some point were offered as a gift in the game or as part with some Holiday package of collection of some sort or whether their only source has always been from start through purchasing their code at the Store.

Does anyone perhaps remember ?

Nope. The Ultima Online Gold Edition (Sold exclusively at Walmart) did include an advanced character token - but that is as close as it gets I think.

At some point, and I'm afraid I don't remember the circumstances, we were given a character transfer token. I believe it was only one per account.
The only way to obtain a name change token in game is if someone buys one and then sells it as a way of boosting their gold supply.

I think we did get a name change and an advanced character token with one of the expansions, so we could recreate ourselves.

I started late 2002 with a Renaissance cd from a clearance bin, Age of Shadows came soon after. I can only find AOS cds, not boxes, but seems it was that expansion that we got the name change and advance character tokens?

I do recall that one of the expansions they wanted to allow us to be able to change our current char to the new skill/temp, that suggests SE with it's samurai/ninja's, but might have been AOS, if it introduced necro/paladin skills.

My 9th anniversary box says crystal and shadow building sets so I assume that gave shadow and crystal tokens.

My 5 Samurai Empire boxes make no mention of tokens. Was it only a charger of the fallen token that we got for that?

Wow! I never took the time to read the SE literature included, it's so detailed. Yay, I can learn about samurai(s).

I know there are 7th and 8th anniversary tokens and there was/is a UO gold CD which I did buy but can't remember what it gave.

Also a Blackthorn's Revenge/something upgrade? Remembering that from old account management page.

The Eighth Age box gave out an Eighth Age, Character Transfer and Advanced Character token. Don't ever recall there being a Name Change one with anything.

My memory does not help me..... I know I never purchased name change tokens, I purchased other types of tokens but never name change.

But, I seem to have recallections that at some points either by purchasing expansions or other types of bulk packages, within them were also name change tokens. But is this so ?

In between the spring decor, the 8th Year, the Holiday gifts with the soulstone fragments and so forth I have mixed up memories and cannot focus about name change tokens.

Tazar mentioned a special Gold edition sold at Walmart but I never bought any and certainly not at Walmart.

Did name change tokens perhaps get into the game by other means other then purchasing them directly ?

I did buy this expansion but I have no Charger of the Fallen nowhere, neither as statuette nor as a token.
Is it possible that I never used the code to claim it ? Where should I find this code and would it still work ?

No sorry dear there has never been a Name Change Token given in game, as of this date that is .
Most players before the Token sale came around ether suffered or if a GM agreed the characters name was improper then they gave you a name change on the spot.
I had a character that had an unusual name then one day I guess some way it became a very suguestive name* I called a GM an explained what my concern was and he agreed it best to change it.. A year later the name change tokens came to be.
I dont see one being given in game... If you feel you have misnamed your character or have a account that someone else helped name them... go buy one....

the answer is no.

they have never been given away as a treat and they have never came with any expansion.
you can buy them individually from the game store or you can get them with the 'reincarnation bundle'.

Popps on a related side note you would probably really benefit from buying a copy of Stephen Emonds "Ultima Online - The Ultimate Collectors Guide" that came out last year.

The only gift tokens were the stewart and soulstone fragments. I think vollums were given the same time as one of them.

All my chars had a stewart and vollum following them around for a while. I guess those stewarts and vollums went poof because I don't have the tokens anymore.

The rest are from buying a game or from the store.

if you get that book i mentioned above it lists all the expansions ever given out all over the world and what if anything came with them and of course costs and release dates ect ect ect.

i would call that hard proof.

3) A Siege vet like myself who purchased lots of boxes well remembers the stacks of unusable ACTs and Transfer tokens we ended up. They later let us turn them in for a Seventh Age token, but I kept most of mine, which was fortunate because the ACTs became valid on Siege about a year ago. But I still have loads of both, as does Kelmo I believe.

I dug out my boxes and booklets and see that:

Age of Shadows: I have CD case with front insert and Madonna and Cat Stevens cds inside, umm, ok. Inside back front insert it does mention bring a friend to Uo get a free month and advanced character tokens for sale from UOshoppes.com? We did get lots of cool stuff in game with that, named rare colored clothing, roses, what else? I was only a few months into UO at that time.

8th age booklet yes says: advanced char, xfer and 8th anni gift.

9th age booklet: Personal attendants and also bonus items with an S, Was it 5 peronal attendant tokens?

UO Gold: 45 days game time and free advanced character. Samurai Empire cd inside that case. If I recall the gold cd at Walmart was super cheap like $10 or $20 so now I know why I bought that. Good deal.

My Samurai Empire books/boxes/cases say nothing about free items but did someone say preorder charger? Still seems we got something else...

Then there was Mondain's Legacy. I don't seem to have any boxes so guess by this time they'd stopped that.

Sorry if I missed anyone else post that showed more proof of no name change tokens given as gifts.

I still remember having name change tokens sitting around for a while though...maybe just a hazard of idocing.

I also remember paying $20 to have a GM come change a char name for me once on Baja, either in late 2002 or early 2003, or 2005, the 2 times I played on Baja. Someone please tell me I didn't do that.

I still think UO Stratics should give us an expansions sticky, but of course only with hard evidence, links and irl screenshots kind of hard evidence.
