Verizon Fios Users On The East Coast, Playing East Coast Servers

A friend and I have noticed extreme lag going to all the Uo Servers starting around 3pm Eastern until late night/morning time.

Has anyone else noticed this I've been running trace routes and checking pings hourly and I literally went from 25 MS at 6am to 50MS at 2pm 80MS at 3pm and now its up to 125ms at 5:30 it goes all the way up to around 150-175ms.

I Just wanted to see if any other players with fios on the east coast, are experiencing the same lag so maybe we can rebel against Fios and get this fixed it just began about 2-3 weeks ago. I have ping 20-40ms for years recently got fios this past year in my house and now I am running into this non sense where I can't even play UO at night because of how horrific the lag has become.

I am keeping track of my trace routes and I can easily see where it splits the Hop onto another server anyways can anyone relate to this. I'll be calling FIOS soon and going back to cable if this isn't adjusted or maybe UO's network engineers can figure out something.

Yeah i have been having that issue for about two years now. And no matter how you route your hops it goes through a amazon server and thats where all the ping drops the most. I normally pinged between 8-15 for years, now its normally 40-65 on east coast. I dont think its FIOS, I think it happened when uo went to the "cloud" which sucks.

Some more info would help. What clients were being used? How many clients? What shards? What is the highest ping you consider playable?

Due to my extreme (and possibly irrational) hatred of Verizon, I continue to use Bright House here in west-central Florida. I have the lowest bandwidth, but haven't had any noticeable lag recently.

I use CC and anything over 30ms is ridiculous for a east coast shard when you live on the east coast. I traced my route several times and it hits about 6-7 hops and it stays at 9-15ms until the amazon server after that its 58ms+ depending on time of day. Only time I ping under 30ms on east coast is at 3am. I hardly even login anymore cause of this. I can stream high res games with no lag so its definitely not a FIOS issue, for me anyways. And this goes for any east coast shard.

Bo actually quit uo for a couple of months cause of the **** service provided by verizon.
Bo is now back thanks to comcast. The Bo has almost 0 lag now, and highly recommends the switch.

I have the exact same issue Soulweaver and I've been trying to figure out how to route my packets through other computers I have access to that use Optonline

I've been checking my pings for the last 2 weeks just like you have and the numbers you have are exactly the same as what I'm seeing - haven't been able to play much between 6 and midnight - kinda sux (FIOS btw)

Yeah I understand Amazon Cloud BS they put definitely effected many players and made pings go up. But I have Verizon Fios In Mass, my buddy has Fios in NY and same exact pings are happening over there and pretty much 6 to Midnight its unplayable unless your filling your vendor. Though my mother has Cable and I went to her house ping is just fine at 20-40 MS.

but if you run a trace route during the day and then at night you can see the fios server is connecting to a server that the ping just rises insane for example these are two trace routes on the same hop you can see rise and the difference in the hop address.

This Hop was In The Morning 6 18 ms 14 ms 14 ms 63-235-40-53.dia.static.qwest.net [63.235.40.53]
This Hop was at Night 6 107 ms * 109 ms pax-brdr-01.inet.qwest.net [63.235.40.53]

I am not sure if its Fios trying to connect into there Amazon cloud server and because so many more people are on afternoon/late night that the cloud server is lagging everyone up or if its Fios doing something at night,

My friend tested his cable from work and his ping was still decent at like 40-50 which is more then the 20 it is average but a lot better then Fios...

I used my friends Fios the other day and it was fine. I use ATT, cheapest and best speeds, even in a white out... Connecticut.
