At last nights Sosarian Solstice Faire attendees heard the sad story of the Mother duck who had lost her ducklings; Time was a factor and many single adventurers and a few groups did their best to reunite her with as many of her ducklings as they could in thirty five minutes. Though all put forth a valiant effort, Ivy and Victor in a joint effort found the most in the shortest time, with 14; Ashlynn found nine on her own; And Lil Missy managed to find eight of the little (Perhaps un)lucky ducklings. As a reward the Mother Ducks quadruplet sisters have pledged their service to standing guard outside of these adventurers houses for now.

However, the mother duck herself was still distraught in that she had yet to be reunited with all 25; She pledged that she wished to be joined back with all of them as quickly as possible. I am happy to inform that the Mother Duck has as of now been reunited with all 25 thanks to the tireless efforts of what was once thought to be a notorious scoundrel, Jack Sparrow. Perhaps he has a soft spot in his heart after all, as he managed to track down all of the ducklings, and the mother duck herself will stand outside his home in gratitude.

Thank you to all who attended and participated, and feel free to put your own searching skills up to the challenge! The ducklings will remain in place until next week, and the clue that the mother duck gave is that they prefer to be in places where people work and live, or where people are or once were. Good luck and as always, Stay Toon'd!

Actually, Nails Warstein (Jandreth) also found 8 locations and was tied with Lil Missy. For some reason, despite being the first to return, it was decided because Nails had a 9th (But incorrect) answer, that he would be the loser of the so called tiebreaker. I have never heard of a Scavenger Hunt having wrong answers count NEGATIVELY to the end result. Its always been decided on timing in those situations or it gets decided by other means.

At the end of the event, you then decided to give a 4th Duck to whoever emailed you first all 25. If you had the power to give a 4th one, would it not have made sense to just give it to Nails who was tied for 3rd? He actually EARNED it within the time frame, and shouldn't be punished for TRYING.

While I am an Atlantic player now, I grew up on Chesapeake. I was here when you first started Dross, and you have always been a good EM. This event was a novel idea, and great for those involved, but I honestly feel as if Nails was cheated at this event. It really seems as if the fact Nails is associated as being a "Multi Shard Player" had something to do with the decision making in the end.

Its a shame.

Can't they stay a little bit longer? They are so cute.... or could those who won the Scavenger hunt send them to a Governors city to be placed in a pen after next week instead of poof? Vesper could use some noble creatures in their city now that Gov. Holly has taken over.....

Well, with the extremely positive feedback regarding this type of unique prize, it is likely there may be other events in the future with rewards along the same lines; Of course they will not be identical and we as always strive to bring you new and exciting events and rewards.

In Response to Promathia: I actually had no idea at all that Jandreth is a cross shard player because he is present at many Chesapeake events. Jandreth has always been a valued player to see at events, as are almost all of those who attend Chesapeake events; we rarely have truly disruptive players here luckily. In regards to the announcement that was made in the first place to have three awarded to the top three who found them in 35 minutes, and then 'suddenly' a fourth would be added...was only phrased that way. The Mother Duck was ALWAYS planned to be given to whoever found all 25 first. However, I prefer to stage things in a certain way in my events; Some people enjoy it, others do not. I wanted to award players who participated during the event for the top three, and to award another for perseverence and completion.

In regards to the judgement made to award Lil Missy over Jandreth, Jandreths book was turned in with 14 entries, six of which were invalid. Lil Missy's had eight, all of which were valid. It was my judgement that Lil Missy therefore had a leg up on Jandreth, despite that Jandreth returned first. I spoke with this at length with Jandreth and he seemed to understand my position. Time of who returned was not important as long as all returned within the time frame; I also mentioned that any incorrect answers would be noted as invalid and -could- count against you, and if there was a pure tie there may be a tiebreaker. In this case, the invalid answers gave me, in my own opinion, sufficient cause to believe that Lil Missy had a leg up on Jandreth. If you truly believe this to be unfair you can direct your inquiries to Mesanna. Thank you to all who joined and enjoyed the event.

Also: You can not say he was 'punished' for trying. There were no punishments handed out. Rewards, as has always been stated, are an add-on and a bonus, and not a right or privilege of an event. A judgement had to be made; Everyone can not be pleased when such a situation arises. Who would then be to say that someone who had 7 couldn't find two in the time it took those with 8 to find one? How would I know that while I was making the decision others weren't already sharing answers? The simple fact is, a judgement had to be made, and I picked what I thought was best. You are free to disagree with this and I welcome your opinion. If you truly feel that Jandreth was discriminated against for any reason, then please send your complaint to Mesanna. I will not answer any more comments, queries, or questions on the matter. As always, thank you for playing Ultima Online, and Stay Toon'd!

Already did.

Your statement that Nails had "14" answers is incorrect as well. He had 9. He uses the EC so perhaps you need to check both clients because I honestly have no clue what you are seeing to make that statement.

Also, no one I have asked remembers you ever saying a wrong answer could "count against you".

Lil Missy and Nails both came in with 8 correct. It was a tie.

!
Jandreth had 9 entries. One was incorrect, tying him with Lil Missy who also had 8 correct. Jandreth turned his book in first, which also should be noted.
We are all very confused by this event.

Regardless of how many times you or anyone else repeat this assertion of 9 entries, I have his book still with me with 14 entries, six of them incorrect. I also already addressed the fact that the only speed that mattered was that you were not disqualified by returning late. Thank you.

Were you guys even there? Even if you were why are you upset? This is between Jandreth and the EMs. If he isn't satisfied with the results he can go to Messana himself. If you aren't happy, go play on another shard. You aren't helping his situation, you are hindering it. Jandreth got upset at the event, and I understand why. I also saw that he was adequately explained why he wasn't the third place winner. You two posting on his behalf is just coming across as childish and irrelevant. If you aren't happy then don't play here. It's just a game and the rest of us had fun playing this part of it.

I have all of Jandreth's arguments in my chat history, and I have all the rules of the competition in my chat history. Without seeing the book I can only assume he guessed incorrectly at a few locations, or didn't didn't accurately describe them, and thus didn't score high enough to place in the top three. Even if this is not true and he correctly stated all the locations, this is not your concern, but Messana's.

I wish you would stop bringing your drama llamas here. Out of the 15/20 people who showed up only Jandreth had an issue and legitimate concern. All of "his friends" complaining about it during and after the event, who as far as I could tell wheren't even there, are these "friends" are not helping and are ruining the fun for those of us who just want to play a game we pay money for. The only Llamas we want here are purple and swirly.

Let's also not forget, the competition still wasn't even over and he still had an opportunity to find the correct location of all 25 ducklings to win the grand prize of the original Mamma Duck which the "first three places" were not eligible to win. He made the choice to not continue with the competition and his "friends" he referenced so much about being upset should have gotten up off their butts and helped him win the final prize instead of white knighting.

If winning was so important you all should have done what Jack Sparrow did. After only finding a very few ducks during the competition he went out and crafted a duck call out of an oyster and two crabs, ran all over the realms, and found all 25 ducks.

I hate to do this because I rarely close threads but this has the potential to get out of hand very quickly.

This is really between Jandreth, the EM's and Mesanna so it should be handled that way. EM Drosselmeyer did state:

If you truly feel that Jandreth was discriminated against for any reason, then please send your complaint to Mesanna. I will not answer any more comments, queries, or questions on the matter.
That is probably the best solution and Mesanna would be the only person to overrule an EM's decision. Jandreth and and anyone else who disagrees should contact Mesanna: [email protected]
