Would people come back if UO had another Return to Britannia?

Personally i think this is Not a good time for a return. Account management problems are too bad, and its too close to to other game releases. plus its going to be summer. people will be out in the sun rather than dusting off old video games.

It depends on how the deal with it. If they just suddenly announce it then I think it might be a flop. They should build up to it. Try and spread the word. Email ALL account holders past and present and make sure account management assistance is there ready if needed.

If you check out the UO facebook page there is a post about it. Already a good number of people in the comments saying "I tried to get my account back blah blah fail fail".

I'd love to see a new account management page, they even spoke about it in the video. I just can't see it being any time soon. In fact I'd be willing to bet that it won't even be this year. Also I was under the impression from the original Broadsword announcement that Origin/Mythic/EA was still in control of dealing with payments and the account side of things.

Yes, there are issues with the account management page and it can be tricky to navigate, but I really don't see it making a Return to Britannia event a failure.

There is one option missing:
- People would try to come back, but would fail because of Origin dont sell them GTCs (or anything else).

After over a month of fails, i gave up.
The only thing they tell me is that my payment methods are not good.
Now i am pledged Duke at Shroud of the Avatar and i am not interesed anymore.
SotA since 25.03.: Edelmann -> Lord -> Baron 3 -> Duke and e few store items.
Origin: Your money is not good enough for a 10 bucks item.

The account management should be made simpler. When you sign in there should be boxes.
What do you want to do?
Change credit card?
Make a payment?
Add an account?
Simple things like that. Just check the right box and off you go to what you need to do. I had to change my credit card ##and it was hard to do. For some people who arent really savvy with computers it can be daunting.

i'd return if they made uo free to play, as the game stands its definitely no where near worth the monthly subscription fee

I agree .My wife and i have just come back after a year and a half leave due to an injury i sustained at work.Since coming back i am loving a lot of the new things that we now have but some of the major issue's are still not repaired. The biggest one is Account management.WOW enough said there. But i have just seen the 50 minute Video with the team and hope they can fix that before welcome back goes out.My opinion would be a great help

Lets be honest, unless they allow players to experience Stygian Abyss and High Seas during the Return to Britannia month, there is no point. Many of the fun things I do with guildies requires one of the expansions. They should upgrade everyone's accounts to the two expansions for that month.

And the game would exist for how many days before EA pulled the plug for unprofitability?
Lord of the Rings Online has made a lot more money AFTER they went free to play than before FTP, this is because they sell extra boosters and such in the online store, it works out better that way

Get it on Steam, schedule a promotion with Valve and then do Return to Britannia at that point.
That way we will see a fair bit of returnees.

Yes, but LoTRO changed the pay model after, what, two or three years? UO has been around too long. Players want that flat $10 a month along with buying the occasional Origin Store items, not free plus $5 to hold a house, $2 for Stygian Abyss, and so on. There are a lot of accounts that people do very little with, except holding a house. F2P with anything less than $10 would likely mean a drop in subscription revenue from that, and would it be made up with anything else? Would players really want to pay a relatively small charge for Ter Mur or High Seas, when they know the flat fee would be cheaper overall?

Also keep in mind that the typical F2P model isn't about longevity, but interest for a few months until someone's had enough.

Realistically, the price for SA, High Seas, etc, upgrades adds up quickly. They've been out for years now, and ought to all be wrapped together into a single upgrade pack.

Fix what is wrong with the game!!!!

Drop rates, useless loot needs to be addressed. Houses that need to fall should fall. The Vendor Search is still not working. The freaking Economy is completely screwed and needs fixed badly. A comprehensive easy to use OFFICIAL web site that explains all of the cryptic over complicated points in the game to new/returning players. Depending on fan sites to host websites explaining your game is simply criminal. Broadsword/EA need to be running a site like UOGuide or Stratics, so that the info is always updated and correct.

Just a few reasons off the top of my ole' noggin. Not that it matters, they will do what they want anyway.

Whoa...........
Look jr, we said we will give them a few months to settle in.
Broadsword just got the game and our Dev is still in the process of unpacking.
If you have ever moved you will understand how long it takes to get everything where it needs to be without hunting through boxes for that missing item you really need.
They are looking into redoing the billing.. yipeeee
New content is being worked on in between bug fixes that are all the time being done.
They are talking to US about ideas and things we want to see in the game... and your pancakes???(sorry Petra)
Yes its been years from the last move up for all accounts but to be frank there is not much to move up to that would not perturb EA money makers.
They still hold the purse strings....
Think of it this way ...UO is in college and free of all restraint but for the fact EA(mom&dad) pays for the tuition or in our case collect the cash we spend to keep their paws off us.
The UO Dev need time to get their footing and do what we have wanted done, but remember its not like the past when the office was full of dev people... right now we are at the teams lowest numbers and thats still getting out publishes 2 to 4 a year. Not bad in my books.
To expect the same output as the early teams is impossible. Those of players who have no idea of how production of a game publish happens need to listen to the latest Chat with the dev. Its no walk in the park.

As for getting more then one GTC from Origin... my son just found out how and has done it. Google it! there is instructions for getting more then 1 code at a time and if done that way shopping at Origin store is a bit more easer then the billing system.

I've no clue what this easier way might be. The way I did it, when the site still allowed, was to select the number I wanted from the dropdown, then do the order. Now, the dropdown only allows a quantity of 1, and you cannot add more than one to the cart in a single transaction. When it takes anything more than either of those to accomplish it, then the site is, to my eyes, allowing only 1 per transaction, thus "broken".

I still think the Account Management page is gonna scare off way too many of them..
But this is also a great idea! Taking people out to do cool stuff is a great way to get them interested in sticking with the game. I know I do this when I can and have often run into the "No High Seas" or "No SA" roadblock..
And if it was just for the thirty days it won't make anyone upset that had to pay for it.

yes lady, i think we all understand this, which is why many are agreeing that this might not be the best time for a return to britania (which is the point of this thread)
