Is it possible to change your mind once you place a house?

After placing a new house, your old house is condemned. Is it possible to change your mind, drop the new house, and keep the old house?

Only if you transfer it to another account, and then back. Think there may be a waiting period of like 7 days before you can xfer it back...been a while since I placed anything

But there is no way to stop decay without transferring it, that much I do know

Sometime during Stygian Abyss, before High Seas release, I placed a customizable plot on a grandfathered account of mine. It was a total mistake on my behalf, and there was no gump asking if i wanted to make the result permanent, the plot automatically landed after clicking the ground to my surprise causing all grandfathered housing on the account to turn slightly worn. I made plans to give one improperly placed homes to a friend the next day. After which point I proceeded to demolish the accidental customizable plot, & log for the day. The very next morning, I log'd on after server up & all of my grandfathered housing refreshed without the assistance of a gm. I am not sure if there is a time limit in which you can change your mind in such manor, but I was ever so grateful. I do not know if by transferring the housing anything different occurs, since I've never had to transfer a home. I have been told by other players that If you are successful in contacting a gm, they can intervene to fresh the original housing if there is no newly placed additional housing before it hits idoc status, as well as if the account that owns the original house is currently being payed for.

I'm letting my frustration show, at the point of giving up, and looking for options. Thank you so much for the offers of support.

The short story is, I've been watching several keep locations on my shard for several months now, and one finally fell this week. I placed a new keep and started moving into the new one. For whatever reason, I prefer Felucca over Trammel even though I have no PvP skills - nostalgia maybe.

One of my new neighbors is trying to prevent me moving into the new house. He parked a ghost cam on the side of the house and a red under my house sign to block my recall - which I've since relocated. But whenever I do recall in, he kills and dry loots, and continuously rez-kills my characters. I tried talking to him and get no response. He hasn't gotten anything of value, except a few tinker tools and such, but it has become so annoying that it isn't worth the move anymore. I've got a stealther that I can try moving with, but am working +70 hours a week and it's going to be tough to do.

Thanks again.

Buy a set of the chargable tele tiles.
Ahh - awesome suggestion!

EDIT: Question about how these work. I assume the token you receive gives you two tiles, one to place in each house. Can these tiles then be re-deeded (axe?) or unlocked for use in other houses?

or possibly ask on the shard board if someone would lend you a pair for a few days. One in each keep would speed up the moving process considerably, as well asm making it safer.

Yes. They are not in deed form, so just unlock and pick up. You must charge them with gate scrolls, unless you claim the vet reward type.
You could even sell them on after you finish moving if you wanted.

Good luck with your moving, hope your new neighbors get tired of killing you and accept you are going to stay there.
Maybe call in gen chat, tell your new neighbors are looking for a fight, there may be a few bored players, who will like keeping them busy

Perfect! Claimed a vet reward for the tiles. Thank you, thank you!

They make moving soooo much eaiser. And you can place them in the keep to get from one side of the keep to the other. I like Fel also. Hubby has a house in Fel on Cats.

Or one on step outside, so you can get in before you get killed, just be careful, that your new neighbors is not around, when you place it.

Hello, I'm not sure this will be useful to you now, but for anyone in dire need: there is a way to set your old house as your primary which will refresh it and make your new house enter the decay cycle.

I should offer the disclaimer that this worked for me a few months ago, but I am not in a position to verify that it currently works. However, I can't think why it no longer would.

You will need a house placement tool and funds in your bank to place a house.
The steps are as follows:

House (A) is the house you no longer want, which is on auto refresh. House (B) is the house you want to keep, but has entered the decay cycle.

1) Move your items from House (B) to House (A). Make sure House (B) is completely empty.
2) Stand under the sign of House (B). Say "I wish to resize my house" - this will demolish the house as described in this link.
3) Place House (B) again. Your account has a one-hour reservation on that area, but try to place as soon as you can.

House (B) should auto refresh, and House (A) should be condemned and enter the decay cycle. Move your items from House (A) to House (B).

I used this once when I bugged and was able to place a house despite being on the 7-day cooldown, condemning my shiny new house. Because GMs can't help with house placement except to clear stuck items (soup, anyone?), I sincerely hope this isn't removed, as there are no contingencies in place to help when things go horrifically wrong.

Hopefully this helps.

That's a great story. Thanks for cheering me up :)
Thank you for your consideration and concern for my little problem. It has a happy ending thanks to some great advice.

May you find others in real life as helpful as you have been in UHall, may your friends and family treat you with the same kindness and respect shown to fellow members of these forums, and may life treat you with the same cheer and kindness that you spread here.
